  1. depending on what excursions you're doing, and how much time you want to spend on deck, consider some waterproof pants. They work as a nice wind layer too. With the right gear you can be perfectly comfortable even if it's raining pretty hard! I find umbrellas a waste- many places you'll be will be crowded, and they are a big hassle with other people around like on a whale watch or something- and totally useless if it's windy.

  2. buying wine in Alaska in general was a bit of a challenge for us- the liquor stores tended to proudly announce things like "we have all the flavors of Arbor Mist!" when asked about wine. If that's your taste, you'll do great, but if you are looking for  a more traditional selection it was often harder.

  3. I don't know what the rules are this summer for traveling into Canada by car, but when we were in Skagway years ago we rented a car and drove as far as Emerald Lake in the Yukon territory. There are a lot of detailed descriptions of the drive on here, it was gorgeous, I enjoyed doing it on our own timeline, and it was a pretty inexpensive day (only the car rental). But again I don't know if you can cross the border this summer by car.

  4. I don't know if this would work, but the Miami Airport has a hotel right in the airport at the E concourse (Miami International Airport Hotel or something generic like that)- I wonder if they rent "day rooms' for a couple of hours so that you could change and shower before your flight? We've stayed there a couple times- the rooms are decent, and were a lower price than I expected for an in-airport hotel.

  5. Yes, I was slightly concerned that with everything else going on they wouldn't use it, but honestly it was easy to just go for a half hour or so- and a lot easier than some of the other activities that were more of a time commitment. But even in a half hour they could quickly rack the cost of what the package amounted to per day. I'm planning to get it again.

Can I ask where you've seen it online? I can't find it for my Bliss trip at the end of May.

  6. We've gotten them a couple of times and thought it was worth it and great- the kids could go there for a little bit while we were relaxing in the room or elsewhere. We went as a family a couple of times and played air hockey. Before we had it we were constantly worrying that they would rack up a large bill, so knowing it was taken care of ahead of time was really helpful. Most games were $1-3 each time, so it adds up really quickly if you don't have it.

We're all sailing together and still outside of final payment, we were due to cruise in 2020 but it was cancelled due to covid so we took the fcc and rebooked this.

She doesn't intend on getting vaccinated so obviously can't cruise, just wanted to know if anyone had cancelled as they weren't vaccinated. I know its going to be a situation as they used fcc to book this back 18 months ago.

The issue is going to be that those FCCs have a book by date of the end of this month, and then a sail by date at the end of 2022.... and I think it's really unlikely the vaccine mandate will change by then. So you'll need to see if someone else can use those credits if possible. Maybe they will refund since that rule wasn't in place when she originally booked in 2020, but I'd start looking into it now.

I looked and did not see one on the Getaway, Breakaway or Epic.  I believe the Jewel class ships have wine bars and I know the Pride of America did too.  It is odd that the Away class ships do not.

Yes, even the Dawn did- and it was always really busy in there it seemed- I'm surprised that's not more standard, especially since it's fast and easy to pour (so doesn't require much staff), and many wine drinkers would pay upcharges for better wines.
