  1. We do not have anything booked on the Panorama so I haven’t researched her. We had a spa room on the Horizon in January. You are correct, there isn’t a thalassotherapy pool. There is a jacuzzi though. There are also heated stone loungers, sauna, steam room, and rain fall shower. All of these are basically in the same room with doors to the sauna and steam rooms. We had a spa room on the Magic and the thalassotherapy pool was in its own room. The jacuzzi is in the same room with everything else.

I love the stone loungers. There is a fridge with chilled towels. It feels so good to lay in a lounger with the towel over your eyes.

  2. While we didn’t fly out of Paris, we left from the US, we got a great deal on flights with Fly2Fun in 2018 to Barcelona. It was much cheaper than anything we could find online.

Also to note, we were interested in flying to Ireland for a few days before the cruise however, we were told the flights had to go into Barcelona.

We are booked in May on the Horizon Spa deck.  Does anyone know if the Spa offers these specials on this ship?

Yes, the Horizon has them. We stayed in a spa cabin on her in January. While some of the ships, Magic included, have a Thalassotherapy pool the Horizon does not. It’s more of a large hot tub.

I got upgraded to a spa balcony on the Sunshine, and I was wondering if we get to keep the spa slippers or are they like the robes. I personally hope they're not like the robes...I don't really like the idea of wearing shoes hundreds of other feet have been in for a week😐

We’ve stayed in a spa room twice. I’ve taken the slippers home and have not been charged. Also they come in a little bag thing. They are brand new.

  5. Give your PVP a call. We went out of Barcelona last April. We monitored flights for many months online and they were expensive. I saw someone post about flights through Carnival so we called. We got a great deal on them.

    Carnival doesn’t currently book hotels.

We stayed at Ohla for three nights there and enjoyed it. It’s rooftop bar and pool have a beautiful view. Breakfast there was delicious. (Book a room rate that includes it so you don’t have to pay)

  6. Yes, a normal seat on a transatlantic flight is just as packed. (Unless you upgrade)It doesn’t help when the passenger in front of you reclines their seat all the way back and bounces the whole time either. The plus side of the flight is wine and beer are free. Haha.

We did a Mediterranean sailing in a April so I’m not sure about those ports. It was wonderful though!

    Thanks Tori!

I personally like the flyers as I think it's easier to view them with a group of people (I can print them off and they have the descriptions right there).   There is no way to consolidate the view on-line when printing them out- each excursion has to be printed separately to get the description and length of tour.   Call me old fashioned, but I just like have everything on 1 sheet of paper instead of having to click each item.

Is this your first time to Alaska? It'll be ours & the 2 other couples we are traveling with.  The excursions all sound wonderful.  Some of us are thinking of either a floatplane or a helicopter/glacier hike - this will be our splurge excursion & the drysuit snorkeling.  How often do you hear of people snorkeling in Alaska!

They say traveling in May is BEAUTIFUL!  There will still be lots of small icebergs in the water and more snow around - will make awesome pictures.     We are going to do the last cruise of the season in September to maximize the chances of seeing the Nothern Lights... a gamble I know, but would be awesome to see.

This will be our first time. I can’t wait! We booked our excursions a couple of weeks ago. We booked a sea plane to a Taku Lodge, dog sledding, and a boat that takes you around and has a sea food boil.

If you see the Northern lights that would be such a highlight of the trip. I sure hope you do see them!

We chose our sail date because it’s over our anniversary. May cannot get her fast enough.

  8. I’d keep the reservation handy for Teppanyaki. We booked Teppanyaki for our Horizon sailing in April when it first became available. We booked it for my Birthday night and received confirmation. When we showed up for dinner they didn’t have our name down. I pulled the reservation up on my phone and they asked us to have a seat and they’d see what they could do. We waited fifteen minutes and then they said a couple didn’t show so we could have their spot. I would have been very upset if they didn’t work us in.

  9. We prefer to fly Southwest but the past couple cruises we haven’t wanted a three hour drive home from the airport in our state Southwest flies out of.

Try giving Carnival a call to book airfare. We got a great deal on our April cruise on flights through them. Way cheaper than we could find anywhere online. We also booked through them for our upcoming January cruise and got a great deal.

  10. I would have it just in case. We’ve never had a problem at the Steakhouse but at Teppanyaki, on the Horizon, they didn’t have our names down. Thankfully I had the confirmation on my phone. Even though they were booked they worked us back.

  11. All of our cruises have been when kids are in school. (Mid January, early May, middle of October, end of November after Thanksgiving, and the first week or so in December) There are always kids on board but never a lot of them. They’ve always been well behaved. I would assume when schools are on break there are many more kids but I don’t care to find out for myself. Plus, I’ve found we can get better rates when school is in.

  12. There is a kid’s menu. I’ve ordered the chicken nuggets as an appetizer before when nothing on the normal menu looks good. They also have a banana split on the kid’s dessert menu I’ve ordered for dessert before. I’m not sure what else is on it.

  13. I’m interested in Bermuda from NY for next year too. Leaning towards RCL unless Sunrise is renovated and well reviewed before then. None of the dates are perfect for me either. NCL put a crappy itinerary on Bliss so it’s a no go for me.

This year I was completely against Triumph so originally I was going to fly out for a cruise but flight + checked baggage + Uber from airport to port and vice verse ended up being almost the same price as the premium price for Horizon. Incidentals and inconveniences made Horizon my choice.

I’m hoping I enjoy my first Carnival cruise. I had a great time on NCL Breakaway last year but I really didn’t like the food.

I get that they put the best ships where they make the most profit, I just wish there was less of the Bahamas itineraries.

Sailing out of NY is beautiful but it would be even better if they waited until the sun set.

I’ve enjoyed all of my Carnival cruises. They stop sailing to Bermuda in September and switch to New England/ Canada. NCL still has Bermuda cruises in October which is appealing. I guess I’m like you, I’ll see how the Sunrise does when she makes her appearance.

We were delayed leaving NYC last year. It was beautiful as the sun set. We were starting to sail but by the time we were by the Statue of Liberty it was dark. We purposely booked our balcony on the starboard side so as we sailed away we would be right by her. We were late to our steakhouse reservations that night because I wasn’t going to miss the Statue of Liberty.

  14. We want to book a Bermuda cruise next Fall out of NYC. The Triumph wasn’t appealing so we were looking at trying the NCL Escape. We were willing to give up Carnival perks to try a new line on a newer ship. BUT since the Triumph will be no more and the Sunrise will be sailing I think we’ll stick with Carnival. Can’t wait to sail from NYC again.
