1. Once you wash your clothing items, roll them in a bath or pool towel for an hour. This will remove most of the moisture; and will allow your clothes to dry quickly.

Just ensure that you don't leave these rolled towels in plain sight of the cabin attendant....

  2. Our status was just updated to Diamond thanks to our cruise last week! Never thought I cared that much until I saw it today. I like it!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

    CONGRATULATIONS to you!!!!

When I disembark from Navigator on Feb 15th, I will be Diamond Plus; and I can't wait....

Enjoy your time in the Diamond Lounges....

  3. I might as well chime in on this cruise:

What a fantabulous roll call we had; over 5200 posts!!!! It was wonderful meeting most of you, and putting faces to names.

I loved Blu, Ocean Liners, and Tuscan Grill. Most of my misbehaving occurred at the Martini Bar, where Putu was always creating something for me to enjoy....

My butler, Nikola, was awesome. He could prepare a party for us with little warning. I think he managed to eclipse my first butler....

As information, several of us are doing the Summit repositioning cruise on April 25th; San Juan to Bayonne.

I hope you enjoyed the champagnes; I'm in the process of replenishing my stock, courtesy of Total Wine....

  4. I have a question, and everywhere I look, I see a different answer.

I you purchase a beverage package on Day 3, are you charged from Day 1, or is it prorated??

Some say it is; some say it isn't, so I am only asking someone who has done this.

I'll be on Constellation in November; if you have direct knowledge of Connie's policy, I would appreciate that too.

    Thank you in advance.

  5. This is basically how I did my sail away in the penthouse, I asked the captains club hostess to provide some appetizer platters, just the same ones they stick on buffet, and asked guests to bring their own bubbly and I ordered 5 bottles from gifts by celebrity so they were cheaper than on board. Gold guests to stop and grab a drink at whatever bar was closest on the way just after muster drill.

It's definitely a simpler task when in a suite (with butler) than standard cabin with no one to really get the particulars in order.

Hi Curt. When did you contact the Capt. Club hostess, and was it via email or what?

I want to host a sailaway in the PH during my Nov 2014 cruise. We're trying to organize who will bring what; and also what we'll need to ask the butler to gather. Any info you can provide is much appreciated.

If you prefer to contact me via email, mine is posted below.

  6. I have a Travel Box which I keep under the bed. In it is the travel alarm, small zip loc bags with OTC meds in one, and highlighter, pen , post it pad, sewing kit, eyeglass repair kit, folding scissors, in another, travel umbrella, luggage tags, etc.

I just pull it out and take out what I usually take for a cruise. I also have plug converters and a curling iron I bought in Europe for when we used to travel overseas.

Makes packing a breeze. Only thing I really need to remember is to have fun!!

When I get home from a cruise, I put all of the little stuff I'll take on the next trip in my carryon bag. The stuff I didn't use goes back into the household closets.

During the cruise, if I think of something I might need the next time, I make a list of those items.

Nowadays I pretty much remember everything.... especially the Kitchen Sink.....

  7. Be sure to check prices at home BEFORE you leave. The Caribbean isn't as cheap as it used to be.

Have exact model numbers and prices in hand when you go. While you won't be paying sales tax (8-10% savings) you will also NOT be entitled to the US warranties. Those international warranties are tricky at best.

    KNOW BEFORE YOU GO....

  8. 1. Rubberized shelf liner to prevent things from rolling around or clanking against each other.

    2. Ziploc bags to hold souvenirs from each port.

    3. Safety pins.

    4. Thank-you notes.

    5. A spreadsheet with userids and passwords (and also answers to those security questions)

    6. Spreadsheet with all of the credit card info for the cards I bring with me

    7. A couple of those 9-LED flashlights you can get for about $1-$2 each on ebay

NOTE: Instead of hanging my washing to drip-dry, I ROLL the items in a large towel overnight. The towel absorbs most of the water; drying time is greatly reduced....

  9. Oh yes, I sailed on Costa Riviera twice: 28 Sep 1987, and again on 01 Feb 1992. Had a great time on both cruises. I still remember that there was a floor-to-ceiling pole in the middle of one of the cabins I sailed in....

I still have my Costa Club book, with the stamps.

The schmucks at the NEW Costa have declined to recognize my 7 Costa cruises. This is probably a reason why I will NEVER EVER sail with them again.

  10. Check out the price on board the ship before you dock. You can also call A H Riise (340-776-2303) and ask them; they're in St Thomas.

If you're going to St Maarten, you can call Gulmohar's (599-542-2956). This store is located in downtown Philipsburg, about 2 blocks west of the town square, on the right. It looks like a dump, but has some of the best prices on the island. They also have an awesome walk-in humidor....

A little homework should yield a good price for you.
