The linked article does NOT “report” that it’s a cholera outbreak.  It says this:  ”While on the ground in Mauritius, USA TODAY and a group of journalists scheduled to depart on a press itinerary Sunday, heard the stomach illness was suspected to be cholera.”

Let’s not get ahead of things!

When I posted the USA Today article did say it was a cholera outbreak. It seems like they have edited the article since then to indicate it may be a cholera outbreak.

Not necessarily true. All of the OBC that we get from our travel agent is delivered as refundable OBC.

Refundable credit can be used for anything onboard, including daily service charges. You can also opt to purchase a future cruise credit with it or take whatever amount you don't use back as cash (as long as you do so before the last night of the cruise). On our last 2 sailings, we have gotten back $400-500+ in cash from each sailing because we pre-paid our gratuities and had very few purchases on board.

That's why I said "most likely." The OP didn't provide enough information for either of us to know for sure.

  3. It depends if it's refundable or non-refundable credit. Most likely from a travel agent it would be non-refundable credit. That means you can spend it on onboard purchases such as spa, retail shop, photos, drinks not included, bingo, and the like. You can't spend it in the casino or use it to pay your on board daily service charges.

So as I read it, morning coffee and continental  breakfast even if you're  not in haven are free. If you order hot foods then it's a charge. Am I reading this wrong. Has anyone ordered just coffee and gotten a 4.95 charge?

That is what the website says, but the website is wrong/outdated. The words, "Morning coffee, continental breakfast and" need to be deleted.

I’m sure it had something to do with us being on the 3rd sailing of the season so between them trying to “get the bugs out” and testing children before boarding it was just crazy.

Hoping our experience next Friday will be better 🤞

Could you provide an update on suite/Haven boarding in Boston this year? I just realized I can pick my check-in time tomorrow. I'll be staying at at hotel near the port, not driving in. Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out a way to do the reverse.....I'm traveling solo and want to use my platinum dinner at food republic.  I want to get 8 items though (since the dinner is for 2).  I think I may get someone to check in with me, we order 8 items, then they can excuse themselves to use the restroom.  🙂  I'd then wrap up 4 sushi rolls to go and have as my 3AM drunk meal

In all seriousness the "refrigerators" in NCL cabins are actually "beverage coolers" and are not food safe as the lowest they go is 45 degrees Fahrenheit. It's not worth getting Bacillus cereus from the sushi rice.

It is not necessary, but if you think you may want to sail with NCL again some time, then loyalty points earned in the NCL Latitudes program may be important to you.  Each individual who sails is eligible to earn reward points, but each must have an NCL account for those points to be registered.  You can earn free nights in specialty restaurants, discounts on shore excursions, free laundry service, and much more, but each person must an NCL account to receive the points.

My husband does not have his own NCL account and his Latitudes status shows the same as mine. You just have to make sure you use the same Latitudes number each time when booking.

Sorry to be so dumb....but all I want to know is if I have my phone connected to the 150 min WiFi and have my phone switched to WiFi calling if I can just dial a number and make a regular call.

You need to check with your carrier. Also take a look at Cellular at Sea, https://www.ncl.com/about/staying-connected-sea-cellular-phone-service-texting.

Another suggestion which applies everywhere not just in the Haven.

When you first  meet  your steward, butler, etc., ask for their card.

Then you won't have to fumble around trying to remember their name when filling out  your post cruise survey.

    You mean a business card?

  10. Thanks for this thread, my husband was just diagnosed with Celiac a few months ago so we have not cruised with him being gluten-free before. I just submitted the special access form and will also contact our suite concierge ahead of the cruise if possible. Does anyone know if Moderno is mostly gluten-free? We love eating at Moderno on every cruise.

  11. The first three reported cases in Iowa may have been from this ship, https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/health/2020/03/08/coronavirus-iowa-kim-reynolds-cases-covid-outbreak/4954032002/

The three people, who live in Johnson County, tested positive for the virus after returning March 3 from a cruise that traveled through Egypt, Reynolds told reporters at an evening news conference.

    {snip}

The three were on a cruise

The cruise that the three Iowans were on ran from Feb. 17 to March 2, according to Gerd Clabaugh, director of the Iowa Department of Public Health. All three returned to their residences on March 3. They later sought health care services after feeling ill and were sent home.

"The three are currently isolated in their homes," Clabaugh said. "Public health and health care partners are doing what they're trained and equipped to do to protect patients, themselves and the community."

Officials described one of the individuals who tested positive as middle-aged, between 41 and 60 years old, and the two others as older, between 61 and 80 years old. They said two had underlying health conditions and one did not.
