No, not right now, but they used to.  Vancouver to Hawaii was one of my favorite itineraries (we did it twice on Carnival before the pandemic).  Going under the Lions Gate Bridge and past Stanley Park was amazing.  I so wish Carnival would start using the Port of Vancouver again.

And another vote for San Francisco, my second favorite, but I haven't done New York yet - it's on the list for next summer.

We did it on a Legend repositioning cruise for Alaska in 2015, before starting her season in Seattle. The other time we did it was on a Princess one way Alaska. Hands down the most scenic port when you sail out with land visible most of the night.

  2. I've had it work with facebook messenger in the past, pre-starlink existance. It seemed like it would happen overnight where I would receive the messages for the day, then replies to those would go out the next night. My guess was they allowed many things through in a window where they opened up service due to one system process or another overnight daily.

  3. The Vancouver to Seattle at the beginning of the season and the Seattle to Vancouver cruises at the end are spectacular for the itinerary on Carnival. Princess did a little more than carnival, like the puppies in the piazza, but I much preferred the younger crowd on Carnival both times we went that way.

  4. We've done Carnival twice and Princess once. The one way itineraries allow more time in ports than the closed loop week long sailings from Seattle. Princess service was generally better.

That said, I would not hesitate to take another Carnival Alaska sailing. Our first one was an 8 day Vancouver to Seattle at the beginning of the season and it was a better itinerary as it included both Tracy Arm and Glacier Bay and was in ports until pretty late.

  5. We were on the first cruise after the Legend came over from Australia one year. There are two outlets in the room, one american style and one european style. I don't think they changed anything out between sailings. Maybe the Australians use plug adaptors full time on cruises?

According to Carnival's Australian site, they have either 3 prong Australian plugs or adaptors with additional adaptors for sale.

That's odd, because this picture shows they've built a temporary wall, covered it with a banner (trying to keep it from looking so unsightly), and have set up the tables. Water glasses and pitchers are set up, the pitchers are full. Why would they make the effort just to keep it closed? Maybe it'll reopen before the cruise is over. Or on the next cruise.

Agreed, but I have heard it from two different families and one poster on page 14 that I do not know (or at least, don't think I know).

  7. The steakhouse has always been there. This area did not change. It is not listed on the list of restaurants because they consider it part of the buffet. It is open for lunch.

(you can choose the ship and it will show that bbq is available).

    Edit to add:

You can see it listed here: https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4252

  8. We tip a dollar extra per drink usually (unless the service was bad). We have asked the bartenders on several trips and all of them have said that the pool tips on cheers go across all the bartenders, but the tips that you put on the line go to the bartender/barwaiter that served you.

We have not had bad service with cheers, but I think after the first few drinks they know who is going to tip and who is not.

  9. Since your question is specific to Vista and Galveston you won't find many answers since she has only docked there once.

We've sailed from Galveston twice and found that embarkation starts between 11 and 11:30. I think I have seen something where that particular sail date had a change of itinerary so maybe there is something special about that date. Since you are platinum I would just go whenever. Our trick recently is just to wait until boarding begins (watching the galveston webcams) and head to the port then and the check in process is so streamlined that you never stop moving really.

  10. On one of our trips, I want to say Magic, they did have tickets for Comedy. They would have you go into the night club and give you basically a group number and a line number (almost like southwest airlines boarding), then when they were ready to seat you they took you through a side door and into the comedy lounge. It was on the Breeze or Magic or Valor, but I can't remember which one.
