1. On the other hand, many of us who cruise solo tip the stateroom attendant double. So it may not be much of a hit to them.

Given that RCI hasn't made an official announcement, I'd say that the customer service reps are shooting in the dark at the moment. Every new points-related promotion I've seen (e.g., the late Diamonds in December promos) has been keyed to the date of sailing, not the date of booking. Let's hope that this one is, too!

I don't think their IT dept could figure out date of booking so I'm fairly confident that all those paying a single supplement for current bookings will receive 2 points per night. It is probably also why cruisers having solo cruises posted after October 3rd are receiving the extra points even when their cruise was in September. Once it's in their system it should be calculated with the new rules as their IT dept has a difficult enough time as it is never mind putting in rules on booking dates and such. LOL

  2. If this is true, I bet it is only for solos that pay 200%.

No it's for all single supplement fares. Even if you pay a reduced single supplement fare you still receive the extra point per night. Plus if you book a suite you'd get a point per night for the suite. Basically it is balcony and below 2 points and suites 3 points when paying a single supplement.

  3. Gil T.........did you personally check this out?

I understand MM, as I know her personally, to only say what would be the truth.

On the other hand.... well, you know what I mean, so I'll call RCL tomorrow, and we will find out if you are truly......Gil T or knot!

    Rick

Yes I have personal knowledge and I posted correct information.

I am sharing what I know and what you choose to believe is your business. Happy checking to you....it will only confirm what I have posted.

However if you really want to split hairs......MM has posted only what she has heard on facebook and I have posted info directly from the mouth of someone at RCI. The new double points for solo cruisers is effective for cruises departing after Oct 3rd, 2013.

On a side note...I find you quite rude in your response.....but maybe that is just the type of person you are.

  4. Some great news for solo travelers on RCI. Effective this month all solo cruisers paying a single supplement will now receive double cruise points. You will now receive 2 points for each night sailed. Any cruises departing after October 3rd, 2013 will receive double points for cruisers paying a single supplement.

  5. Go to www.checkmytrip.com

This is the site that choice air uses for their confirmation numbers. You should also be able to see your reservation on the airlines website directly but you need the carrier record locator number to do so.

However the above site is one that works with choice air and that they recommend that you use so it can be posted here as it's affiliated with choice air.

  6. Bob said there was no floor to "ceiling" wall which is true on all the ships that have had the CL relocated to this location in the Viking Crown Lounge. The wall starts at the floor but doesn't go all the way up to the ceiling. So Bob is absolutely correct.

What I was saying is that it is the Diamond Lounge that opens to the Viking Crown below NOT the Concierge lounge and there is a proper wall between the 2 lounges.

  7. I have D+ friends who also did a B2B on Freedom. The first week they were in a GS and Willie took great care of them. The second week they were in a JS and he completely snubbed them.

Yes Willie was great in the beginning but he now caters to suite guests and not the frequent cruisers. A few others are like that as well. Unless you know them quite well from over the years they snub the frequent cruisers in favor of the suite guests. It comes down to some frequent cruisers are not so good tippers in the lounge so they put their efforts to where there is money to be made. However they do not all act this way.

  8. I'm not sure I understand who is who on Enchantment - is it Nizar or Iryna as of 5/20/13.

    Thanks,

    Irene

Nizar is not going back to the Enchantment. Iryna is the Diamond concierge that started 5/20/13.

Can anyone tell me who is concierge on the indi 15 th June 2013??

I can't help you with your sailing but Nizar is going to the Independence as of the 2nd week of July.

  9. You're memory is fine. That nice CL, convenient walking distance to all the suites on deck 8 is now 4 staterooms. Instead, you take an elevator or walk up 3 decks to the new CL, which does not even have a floor to ceiling wall between it and the rest of Viking Crown.

Actually the Diamond lounge is on the side with half a wall looking over down on the Viking Crown. The Concierge lounge is on the opposite side with the windows out to sea and it has a wall between the 2 lounges.

If Rahul is going to the Enchantment then that is news to the GSM on Enchantment because nobody is expecting him.

A Concierge's contract can be for up to 6 months.

More times than not the GSM is the last to know where Miami is placing or moving people.

  10.
It was on the Jewel last week that four in our party, at different times, tried to get a drink from the Champagne Bar with no go. Not even soda. I put a slight complaint on the comment card, so maybe they will listen.
The reason that you cannot get drinks with soda or even plain soda at the Champagne Bar is because they do NOT have a soda machine at the Champagne Bar.
So the price that they give your per day includes the 15% gratuity?
Yes that is correct. The $45 and $55 drink packages already have the 15% built into the $45 and $55 per day price. In reality the packages are roughly 39.13 and 47.83 then the added gratuity brings it up to the 45 and 55 prices.

A friend of mine just got off the Dec 10th sailing of the Serenade and Capt Karin was already onboard. I'm not sure when she started but it was sometime before this sailing.

  12. Capt Per left in the middle of the Oct 9th sailing of the Mariner. I don't believe that he went back for the Oct 20th sailing so their rotation may be off a bit. He was supposed to be back but things got delayed. Young guy covered him but his name has slipped my mind at the moment. Old age catching up to me.:p I'll check to see when Capt Flemming started his rotation. I know a couple of officers that had sign off during the crossing before the long sea days on Nov 8th.

  13. Don't know why I just caught your screen name, I always thought your name WAS Gil Azell :D

You caught that did you? haha You are the first on here to see it.:D

We're on Liberty next week, and Royal told us that Captain Bang will be the Master.

According to Capt Frank Martinsen he IS currently on board and will be until Dec 13th when he then moves to the Navigator. I would think the source is pretty accurate as I would hope that the man himself should know what ship he is currently on.:p He started on the Liberty on Oct 21st in France.

  14. There is other "rumor", but nothing that can be substantiated or that is currently verifiable.....

    Yes there is.....

Capt Frank Martinsen will be on the Liberty until Dec 13th and will then be heading to the Navigator. He is not going back to the Majesty and will begin his new permanent rotation on the Navigator on Dec 15th.

  15. Alaska is so hard to get around by roads. No roads go to Juneau. I remember in 2010 one of the Senate candidates campaigned by taking a cruise.

Alaska is actually very easy to get around. Alaska has an excellent ferry system for both walk on passengers and for those with vehicles including RVs. Many popular attractions are primarily accessible by highways and the scenery along the way is beautiful. Not only do you see remarkable natural scenery but also some amazing wildlife. The ferry takes over where the roads do not go. Juneau also has an international airport that would be very easy for cruise ship staff, crew, entertainers, etc get from the airport to the port.

  16. can anyone confirm who the master on Voyager is (and when did he start); when did Capt Arild start on Legend (and what happened to Capt Ryan); any other movement anyone wants to share? :)

Capt Ryan is now on the Voyager.:)

I will find out when he started and when he'll be on the ship till and report back.
