  1. We've booked a jeep tour through Shore Excursioneer. We're looking forward to it, but a little apprehensive since it's the first time we've booked outside the cruise line.

We booked the private Jeep excursion (just 3 of us) through Shore Excursioneer and will be there mid-May. I will try to remember to post back here and let you know how it goes. :)

  2. If you can afford the prices, it never hurts to try one or more of the specialty restaurants. We did on our first cruise and have on each one since, at least 2 or 3 times during the week, depending on the restaurants. We're not big alcohol drinkers so we aren't spending a lot of extra money that way. We also do not personally care for the Main Dining Room so specialty dining is our little splurge instead.

  3. Captain...Jack? No. Captain Morgan. Wait- Captain Crunch!!!

Seriously, I have NO idea. Whomever he was, I'm guessing English was not his first language, because his announcements each day were like: "Hullo this is uti odds fsdjklh rewjklj iosjfi..." I'm not sure if it was him or a really crappy PA system. I couldn't understand anything I heard over the PA - maybe the airboat ride blew out my hearing...

Oh, BFE sista (yeah, I'm still following you!!!), I just laughed out loud !!! :'):') I think that same captain is on every ship. Our first cruise was out of New Orleans and the only word we could recognize was "reeeever" about every 15-20th word. We finally quit trying to understand anything Captain Kangaroo ... errrr, Caveman .... had to say!! As long as we got there and back we were happy !! ;p

  4. I am LUUUUVIN' your review (not going on Allure - just love a good review with photos !!!) You and I could be BFEs (besties forever 'n' ever) !!!!! :D (1) You don't hesitate to discipline other people's kids ... me either. Three little female munchkins were SITTING IN THE FLOOR and hogging one of the elevators on last cruise, pushing E-V-E-R-Y single button E-V-E-R-Y time anyone got on or off. After about the 4th time and we still weren't to our floor, hubby (bless his heart) beat me to it and let them know in no uncertain terms they had better NOT do that again. Next floor, they got off. They just moved to the other elevator. :p (2) You have my full and complete sympathy on the hotel fiasco. So unfair. Somebody say "compassion" !!! AND (3) I am still ROFLMBO over the "Deluxe Lizard Shoot and Beach Break" :'):');p Soooooo looking forward to the rest of your review !!!

  5. My first cruise was in 2012 at the ripe old age of 52, with my hubby who was 48 ;p I had wanted to go to the Caribbean as long as I can remember, but no one would go with me and no one wanted to take a cruise. I actually WON OUR FIRST CRUISE from Royal Caribbean. I have listened to the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning syndicated radio show (out of Dallas) for years, just happened to come across the contest on their web page and entered on a whim. Initially they were only giving away 6 cruises for 2, but decided to add 2 more and I was one of the lucky last two !!! :D Hubby decided he DID want to go on a cruise and, needless to say, we were both hooked from day one on the ship.

Yes, I felt nervous (not knowing if we would like it or not and be stuck for 7 days) but very excited and ready to "see the world" and travel for the first time out of the country. We were upgraded from an ocean view cabin to a balcony cabin and cannot imagine cruising without one - probably my favorite place on the ship is my private balcony!! Also being "rocked" to sleep at night is the best. It's hard to describe to someone the colors of the sea - from the deep royal blue of the gulf to the greens and turquoises of the Caribbean; the soothing sounds of the ocean waves; the sunrises and sunsets; unpack once, somebody else does the "driving", cooking and cleaning ... it's just the most relaxing, enjoyable vacation imaginable.

  6. We travel with a small fan and extension cord, is this allowed?

We have not sailed on Grandeur but have brought small electric fans on all of our cruises without any problem. Have not brought an extension cord before but other folks say they have and had no problems either. If you want your fan really close to you, an ext. cord would be handy.

  7. My husband and I did the Blue Lagoon tour in December.

I read in another post (and now I can't find it) that the drive to/from the Lagoon was an hour and a half one way. Do you recall that it took that long to get there? Also, did you find the drive interesting and scenic or boring?

The description states it's a 5 hour excursion so if it's basically 3 hours traveling to and from, that only leaves 2 hours at the lagoon and if the kayaking is 1.5 hr (as stated in the description), that only leaves 30 minutes to relax, eat, change clothes, etc. Maybe we will be as lucky as you and not have a crowd to deal with and the kayaking won't take so long.

  8. We have reserved an excursion through ShoreExcursioneer.com to go to Bacalar Lagoon (Costa Maya Seven Colors of Blue Lagoon Excursion) this coming May. Cost of $54.99 per person. 5 hours. Transportation provided. Lunch provided. Use of Blue Lagoon Resort facilities and a kayak tour if desired. Not sure when you are cruising, if after May, I can give you a review.

  9. We will be in Roatan in May and have the freestyle tour booked with Rony. I am curious to know what you decided to do, what you recommend as "must see" or "don't waste your time" on, etc. Also, how did you like Rony's and what can we expect? Thanks. :)

  10. How long is the ride by water taxi between West End and West Bay, and what is the cost? Also, we are doing freestyle tour with Rony. Is it possible to do the water taxi and have our driver meet us at the other end?

  11. By now it's clear that some travelers love them, and some don't. I'm in the "don't leave home without them" category. My bag for checking on the plane is actually designed to perfectly fit the ebags cubes. Couldn't be simpler. Rather than try to explain how they make my packing and unpacking more efficient, have a look at some of these youtube videos. Here are a few, or search youtube for yourself.

I've never used the cubes, but after watching your video suggestions, I think I may be hooked!!! :D I'm an organization freak and not sure why I never tried these. ;p Thanks for the info !!!

  12. My husband and I did the Blue Lagoon tour in December. We were the only ones who booked it so we essentially got a private tour. Yes, your hubby can relax/ nap under one of the little huts while you and your son kayak or swim. Our guide took us out for about an hour in the kayaks which was nice. Neither one of us had been in a kayak before and she was very patient as we learned how to make it move. There is a current in the lagoon which surprised me. Lunch was included which was chicken, some veggies, and tortillas with an open bar. The only beer they had at the time was Corona which is great if you like it. After one, my husband went to margaritas. I had pina coladas.

Thanks for your reply!! Sounds great !!!! I have booked with shoreexcursioneer.com for our May cruise !!

  13. Private Jeep Tour for the day; Going to the "Other Side" of the Island with only you and your party with a guide in the back of your Jeep. Stops along the way at anywhere you want including snorkeling, drinks and lunch included; Then end up at The Money Bar before heading back to the ship. I've been to Cozumel 25+ times and have about done it all. Been to every beach club/shop and water and land tour around.

I usually rent my on car now days.

Which excursion company did you use for this?

We are looking at shoreexcursioneer.com for private jeep tour in Cozumel and Blue Lagoon tour in Costa Maya. Wondering if anyone has good experience and recommends this company? Thanks.
