  1. My niece and her son are going with her parents on the Dream next month. Her son is 14, mature and 6' tall (210lbs). I don't think he's going to enjoy being in a club with 12 year olds (they probably won't want him with them either..lol). I was wondering if there is any leeway with the ages and clubs? He is mature mentally as well as physically. Not overly so but more than most 14 year olds because he has only been with adults most of his life. No giggling, goofy kid silly stuff. Any ideas?

I don't know when you are going, but if its over Christmas, there will be lots of kids on board and there is bound to be someone he will want to hang out with. Last December by son was in Circle C at 14 along with his brother who was 12. My 14 year old was almost 6ft tall at the time. This was at the beginning of December and there was only 12 kids in circle c. They would often all group together for certain activities but when they were just hanging out around the ship they tended to stay in groups of 3 or 4. My son always stood out as he was at least a head taller than everyone else, but he is used to that. He had a great time and still talks to a few friends he met onboard. This Christmas they will be in separate clubs and there should be lots more kids.

I think he will be fine, just make sure he goes to the party the first night. My kids didn't want anything to do with the club at first, but I told them they had to go to that party then they could decide if they wanted to participate in anything else. With so few onboard I was glad for that tip from the boards. They thought it was silly, but the kids they clicked with during that party were the one's they hung out with for the rest of the cruise.

  2. Thanks, the main reason I wanted to do this is because New Orleans traffic, especially around the port, intimidates me, lol. I was hoping to be able to come back after some sightseeing and leave when it's not so bad. Not a big deal, hopefully the craziness just seemed worse from the back of the taxis we've always been in :-)

  3. Tried posting this on the ports of call board, but not much traffic over there. We have never parked at the port before, but plan to this time. Do we have to jump in our vehicle and leave immediately after our cruise? We have a few things we would like to do within walking distance of the port, so we'd like to drop our luggage in the car and set off on foot for a few hours, is this possible? Didn't think it would be a problem, but then got to thinking that it is solely for cruise parking so is there a walkway in and out of the deck to the street?

I don't mind paying an extra days fee. It would be worth it not to have to leave and deal with traffic and search for another place to park.

  5. I was really hoping these would be a good way to help someone else save for a cruise by gifting them on special occasions, but I think they are missing alot of features. They should be able to register an account and redeem their cards to their account, kind of like Amazon. Then there would be no worries about losing multiple cards, especially since they are not reloadable. Having a bunch of separate cards to keep track of, would be a real pain. If they are lost, they can't be replaced even with a receipt?? Dumb.

  6. Great tip! Can't wait to try it during our December cruise! Hubby and I both have android phones and my kids both have android mp3 players. I installed the app on all of them, put the phones in airplane mode and turned wifi on on all of them. I unplugged my dsl and was able to make calls between all of the devices. The biggest surprise was the kids' mp3 players behaved just like phones, the speakers and mics all lined up perfectly. They thought that was really cool!

  7. Bingo. I lost all respect for the Carnival dining room when I saw this video.

I wouldnt wear anything like a tank top or a speedo to the MDR, but clearly just about anything else goes. ;)

Wow! I am no prude, but I would not have stuck around in that dining room. Only made it through 19 seconds of the video. I've never seen the waiters dance though, are they just as obnoxious?
