Not all enjoyed it more. We found it grating and irritating. More of a mismatch than anything else.
I agree 100%. We avoid this venue. We do however enjoy the music of BB King and Rolling Stone Rock Room.

This is great John. We just got back from our land sea trip on Sunday. We did the three night Denali experience but the route was the same as yours.

I really appreciate you doing a review of your British Isles cruise. We are doing a similar itinerary on the Rotterdam in May of 2024. We leave from Rotterdam. Thanks again !!

@nutensteve, I assume your insurance reimbursed you for the meds.
I submitted the claim and it is being processed. I'm hoping we are reimbursed.

The day after boarding I developed a cough and a sore throat. I self-tested positive and the medical staff tested both my wife and I and we were both positive. We were confined to our cabin for 5 days. I did receive a letter stating that we would receive FCC for the days of confinement. We were prescribed Paxlovid and boy it is expensive. We both felt better after about 3 days. We disembarked the end of May.

I have a guarantee cabin on the Nieuw Amsterdam leaving Wednesday, April 26. Wasn’t to stressed about not getting a cabin up until now. Driving down to San Diego tomorrow. Called HAL this morning. Supervisor said I will be issued a room when I check in. Has this happened to anyone this close to departure?
Thanks,
Jo
Hi there Jo ...Hope you get a decent cabin. It was nice meeting you on the Koningsdam over New Year.

Tried logging in with Edge...no joy! Same issue. I don't think it's a browser issue.
I was having the same issue trying to book the spa ..... tried Edge and boom it went thru. All good now

Thank you John for a very good review of your cruise. We were on the same cruise and you brought back some good memories. I was hoping to meet you and although I carried around your profile pic (j/k) I never did see you. Maybe next time ....

That’s not what we were told.
We just got off the Koningsdam on Saturday and our room was serviced twice daily. We did not ask they just did it.

Hmmm...seems high. We park at SFO for $13-15 per day....that is about average for the off site parking. Surprised they are charging $25/day.
I thought it is a little high also. We are paying $16 a day at the Intercontinental which is next door to the Wyndham.
-
We have parked at the Wyndham hotel right across the street from the dock. This time we are parking at the Intercontinental Hotel also just across the street. You need to make reservations in advance thru Airport Parking connection. The rates are very reasonable.

Your room should be ready when you board. This is one of the things I like about HAL.

Thanks for the information ....very informative. I printed it to use on my trip next year.

Looking forward to following along Copper. We are doing the same cruise in December but it is a 9 day on the Koningsdam. I always enjoy your day by day reports.

Hmmmm no survey here yet and I have 2 cruises booked.

In November we ordered a couple from our room steward and they were delivered to our room. they were four dollars each. They are comfortable to wear.

Enjoy your cruise John. We got off the Kdam in November, she is a great ship. Merry Christmas to you and your bride.

Prior to our cruise on the Konigsdam last month we made appointments at a local Urgent Care. We were seen timely and had the printed results within 15 minutes. There was a charge but the experience was totally stress free. We would go this route again if required.
We did the same thing at a local Urgent Care. They did the Rapid Antigen test and we had the printed results in 20 min. We were charged $100 each but it was worth it to eliminate the stress.

If boosters are now necessary to maintain your waning protection, why don't they matter?
My concern was the timing of the booster being so close to my cruise date. I do not doubt the necessity of the shot itself.

Boosters are NOT required, so when you get your booster doesn't matter.
Thanks .... That's what I was hoping.

I was on the same ship in 1957 also Liverpool to Montreal. I was only 10 years old but I do remember how rough the seas were. I think 90% of the passengers were seasick. They nicknamed the ship the "Drunken Empress "
