  1. Belkin: Thanks for posting that article and now I know exactly where the place is located. However as many things in that article were not only out of date, there were several inaccuracies.

The "restaurant/bar" described is not true. It is a bar only, there is no food served at these places only beer or wine. If you walk the sea side of the city wall, you will see them and yes, there are two.

If you download the Dubrovnik old town map, you will be able to find them easily.

I will check the map out as it looks like a very senic place to relax. Thanks

  2. As we are looking forward to our first trip to Dubrovnik in August we have been researching how to take full advantage of the single day we will have. Based on our research, we are going to try: Komarda Restaurant (http://komarda.hr/index.php?lang=en)

It is just outside the walls at the Ploce entrance and appears to be at the sea shore. We've seen this place mentioned postively in a few places and are looking forward to trying it out.

Thanks, looks like a very nice place.

  3. Hello belkin,

Yes, in fact the cable car station is basically in the Old Town area.

As you leave the cable car station you walk inwards, away from the seaside and you'll be in the real Old Town.

Yes, the market is practically at the beginning of the Old Town area.

    You're welcome.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I am starting to keep notes as we will be visiting 15 ports and I started getting a little mixed up. :)

  4. On 01 November the opening hours for our sites will change to the shorter winter hours. The wall will be open from 0900 to 1500, cable car 0900 to 1700 (weather depending). When you say the Placa thoroughfare, I am assuming you mean the main promenade which we call the Stradun. Yes you will be walking on the Stradun, if you plan to visit the old town. Fort Lovrijenac will also have shorter hours, it is considered part of the city wall but a bit off the beaten path. Guess you can do it all, but depends on the hours your ship will be docked here.

I am curious if you are coming this year, or 2013? If next year, you have enough time to research. I strongly suggest you download the map which I have posted numerous times, it will help you with an overview of the locations of the sites.

Last year our summer weather was long and hot, well into November. The year prior November was wet, cold and windy. Who knows what this year will bring us, as April has been very cold, wet and windy.

Thank you for all of your help. We are coming in 2013 so we have plenty of time to research. The ship will be there from 0900 to 1800. Yes I was referring to the Stradun. Thanks for posting the hours. We are in pretty good shape so we should have no trouble getting around but I dont want to rush either. I am going to search for you map. Again, a big thank you! Mary

  5. Dubrovniklady I was wondering if you might be able to give me some advice on how to plan our day? We would like to see the wall, old town and the cable car. Will we have to time to do this without rushing?

Also wondering if we could fit in Placa Thoroughfare and Lovrijenac?

We will be coming on the Carnival Legend November 2nd, 2013. We are so excited Dubrovnik looks so beautiful.

    Thank you for your help.
