Belkin: Thanks for posting that article and now I know exactly where the place is located. However as many things in that article were not only out of date, there were several inaccuracies.

The "restaurant/bar" described is not true. It is a bar only, there is no food served at these places only beer or wine. If you walk the sea side of the city wall, you will see them and yes, there are two.

If you download the Dubrovnik old town map, you will be able to find them easily.

As we are looking forward to our first trip to Dubrovnik in August we have been researching how to take full advantage of the single day we will have. Based on our research, we are going to try: Komarda Restaurant (http://komarda.hr/index.php?lang=en)

 

It is just outside the walls at the Ploce entrance and appears to be at the sea shore. We've seen this place mentioned postively in a few places and are looking forward to trying it out.

Yes, in fact the cable car station is basically in the Old Town area.

As you leave the cable car station you walk inwards, away from the seaside and you'll be in the real Old Town.

Yes, the market is practically at the beginning of the Old Town area.

Dubrovniktravellady I was reading a post in another forum that was talking about a restaurant that was built outside the city walls on the ocean, they talked about walking the wall until you came to an opening. Just wondered if you know the place? Are you allowed to recommend a place to eat?

I know this probably has been asked so sorry for repeating but could we walk from cable car station to Old Town? If we can walk to Old Town do you have directions? Is the market near Old Town? Thanks for all of your help!!!

We are scheduled to be in port from 7am to 7pm. We are going to go to Pompeii on our own. Since we will be there until 7pm I was wondering if we would have enough time to go to Capri too or would this be too much? Any suggestions?

I found the map it is a great source of information. Will we be able to walk from port to Old Town (we are on Carnival Legend)? Also how far is it to the cable car if we exit at Ploce? Sounds like it is an easy walk.

On 01 November the opening hours for our sites will change to the shorter winter hours. The wall will be open from 0900 to 1500, cable car 0900 to 1700 (weather depending). When you say the Placa thoroughfare, I am assuming you mean the main promenade which we call the Stradun. Yes you will be walking on the Stradun, if you plan to visit the old town. Fort Lovrijenac will also have shorter hours, it is considered part of the city wall but a bit off the beaten path. Guess you can do it all, but depends on the hours your ship will be docked here.

I am curious if you are coming this year, or 2013? If next year, you have enough time to research. I strongly suggest you download the map which I have posted numerous times, it will help you with an overview of the locations of the sites.

Last year our summer weather was long and hot, well into November. The year prior November was wet, cold and windy. Who knows what this year will bring us, as April has been very cold, wet and windy.

We cruised in December and loved the Freedom. I can't think of one negative thing. It is by far my favorite ship and I would sail her again in a heartbeat. We had the aft wrap 7445.
