  1. Which leg is the train ride on the tour including Fairbanks? Is it Fairbanks to Denali?

    Both cruise portions are southbound.

Tour HB5 starts in Anchorage (1 night), then Mt. McKinley (2 nights), then Denali National Park (2 nights). From Denali the 9 hour rail trip to the cruise ship.

    OR

Tour JB6 starts in Fairbanks (2 nights), then Denali National Park (2 nights), then Mt. McKinley (2 nights). From Mt. McKinley the 5 hour rail trip to the cruise ship.

    Which is better?

    Anchorage or Fairbanks

5 hour or 9 hour rail trip

  2. Whatever you decide, you should make sure you have two nights at Denali Princess Lodge. That gives you a fully day in the park, which isn't enough, but it's much better than a half day that you'd get with one night at the lodge.

Yes, both tours include 2 nights at Denali and 2 nights at Mt. McKinley. The only difference is the choice between Anchorage and Fairbanks and the choice between the longer or shorter rail trip. That's my dilemma.

  3. Hi! I am so excited :D that I am finally planning my trip to Alaska!!! I have been talking about it for years.

I have decided to take a Princess Cruisetour, touring first and than cruising. I have already posted this on the Alaska board, but I would also like to hear from the Princess "Pros"!

I am trying to choose between Tour HB5, which includes Anchorage, Mt. McKinley and Denali and has the 9 hour ride on the Princess Direct to the Wilderness Rail Service (double decker) and Tour JB6, which includes Fairbanks, Denali and Mt. McKinley and has a 5 hour ride on Princess Rail Service (not double decker). The obvious difference is that JB6 has an extra day.

What will I be missing if I do the 5 hour ride instead of the 9 hour ride? While I can't be disappointed because I am in Alaska, will I be sorry :( if I don't do the 9 hour?

Any thoughts about Anchorage vs Fairbanks?

    Thanks, thanks, thanks in advance!

  5. We are traveling on the Anthem on August 11th. We are scheduled for Dynamic Dining Classic early seating at 6:00P.M. We would like to do a private tour when we are in St Maarten, however we would also like to be back on the ship in time for our scheduled dinner time. Does the ship allow you any flexibility if you need to get back a little late? If so, how much flexibility? Any suggestions?

  6. I have been to both St. Thomas and St. John on land vacations. This August I will be on the Royal Caribbean's Oasis. We will be docked in St Thomas for a day. There will be a group of six of us ranging in ages from 50 to 60. We are interested in Island Marketing Ltd., VIP half day sail and snorkel to St. John.

Has anyone used this company before for this particular excursion? What are your thoughts about it?

    Thanks!

  7. We were thinking of taking a one day tour from Oahu to The Big Island. I know that it will be an exhausting day and it would be much better to stay for several days. However, that is not an option.

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with the one day tours and if you could suggest a good tour operator.

    Thanks!
