  1. What is included with the spa pass? Can you get just a day pass? We will be staying on the ship while in Jamaica so was wondering if this is something we may want to do that day? Thanks.

As of last summer you could get a day pass - -I believe it was $35/day? Included is the thelasso therapy pool (think giant hot tub) and the thermal suite. The suite is comprised of four different rooms, two steam (one is aromatherapy) and two dry (sauna style, and another a little cooler with heated loungers).

Both my wife and I have booked a spa stateroom on our last few cruises because we LOVE the quiet, relaxing retreat of the spa. My favorite is just relaxing in the tepidarium. The room is warm, but the heat comes through the uncomfortable looking, but actually very comfortable, tile mosaic loungers.

  2. Ah. My wife also reminded me that you each (first two adults in the room anyway) get one free fitness class for the cruise as well. I've yet to use mine, hence why I didn't remember...:p

She doesn't think there are discounts on treatments. I would say unless there's something that you ABSOLUTELY have to do in terms of treatment, have a look at pricing once on the ship -- they sometimes run specials on port days.

  3. Sorry i don't have all the answers, BUT this year will be the third in a row the wife and I have gotten a spa room. We like the quiet escape of the spa.

With the spa stateroom you have included access to the thermal suite (four "heat" rooms, two dry and two steam), as well as the thelaso-therapy pool.

I don't know about pricing/discounts, but I believe you have "priority booking"?

We got a couple's full body massage/facial a couple years back. It was very nice.

  4. We were on the Glory the week of 4/13 and they had the Crème Brulee on the second night (Mon). They told us it was the first night it was back on the menu. I was very excited and it was awesome as usual! The chilled soups weren't back on the menu yet but our waiter remembered my son loved them from our previous cruise and brought him the Strawberry Bisque every night. When my mom tasted it and liked it, he started bringing her one every night too!

Sounds like an all star of a waiter! One of my buddies sailed on the Valor in November last year, said the creme brûlée wasn't good. We're not friends anymore.:p

  5. We've sailed Spirit, conquest, splendor and dream classes, and have yet to find a ship we didn't enjoy.

That said, our favorites are the Legend-partly because it was our first cruise and created our addiction, but also she's a pretty ship with a very "user friendly" deck plan.

And the other favorite is the Dream, love the lanai, serenity area and the thermal suite/spa. Actually...we just like pretty much everything on the dream.

I'll try to remember to let you know about the Magic when we get back a little later in the summer!

  6. Carnival ruined.........

My DH's choices for ships and cruise lines---

After the Breeze, he wants Guy's Burgers on every cruise :p

I love, love, love the shaved spiral cut onions on the toppings bar, myself :D

I have yet to have the opportunity to enjoy a Guy's burger...sad.

I am however going on the Magic soon, and I'm really looking forward to the Red Frog Pub. Any suggestions or pub favorites I need to try?

  7. I second the chilled cream and fruit soups. Love them. Creme Brulee just because I don't have anywhere else to get it.

My wife started to tear up when we saw the new menus, no creme brulee! But from what I hear those and the chilled soups (another wife favorite) are being added back!

  8. LPut and Karin -- Have a super happy fun time! Let me know about the pizza! Jealous you get to Dream a few months before me. Wife and I sailed her a couple years back and LOVED it, now excited to see her after the (partial) 2.0 upgrades.

  9. I'm sorry if this has been mentioned earlier, but just wondering if the Dream has the new pizza (wood fired type thin crust) a la Pizza Pirate, or if it's Carnival's standard fare? I saw some pictures on a recently 2.0 upgraded ship and it looked pretty fantastic.
