  1. I think some people complain because they don't know how to do anything else. Glass half empty.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm on a cruise. I'm not going to let a few issues ruin my trip. It would have to be a major mishap for me to come on here and complain.

RCI is increasing prices. Have you been to the grocery story lately? Everything is going up. It's life.

  2. Such an entertaining thread. And also a very sad thread.

I find it sad that the OP could only find things to complain about. When I am on a cruise, I could care less what someone is wearing or who is using the elevator.

Now hand washing is a different story. I would like to think that everyone has clean hands when they eat. But I know they don't.

  3. I almost hate to respond to bring this to the top, but.......WHO CARES ABOUT THIS FIGHT........????? Or any boxing at all........

Why does this bother you so much? It bothers you so much that you had to come in with a nasty reply. You didn't care about the fight and that's fine. But a lot of people did. Everyone has their own interest.

Too many negitive Nellies on this board.

  4. I have met many new friends in the champagne bar on cruises, and the occasional Mr Right.

I dont like cats, I have a dog.

I do have a great job, and yes I do have "Some" friends, and they are good ones.

I also think that leaving children wander around a ship until 2am is asking for trouble. That is very bad Parents the kid has, and no matter what type of humor you spin on it, the kid is going to be trouble.

    .

I did not see anyone say they LET their kid run around the ship at 2:00 AM. Are you assuming this is being done?

  5. Love it! Poor Knickers... I'm guessing 50 something spinster with six cats, a great job, but no friends (just acquaintances) Sits in the champagne bar all evening waiting for 'Mr Right'.

Enjoying this game. It's better than hearing her slag off our teenagers that she knows so well

That made me laugh out loud.

  6. :-) Good kid!! Good parenting!

Thank you! I'm pretty proud of him. And, yes, he tried to pull a fast one on our cruise when he was 15. (see story in this thread) But when I found him, he wasn't doing anything wrong. He and a bunch of boys just sitting around talking.

This knicker person is just trying to start trouble. I'm actually finding it a little enjoyable.

  7. My son is a senior in high school. He is such a horrible kid. He had his prom last weekend. His date was a beautiful girl. I gave him a curfew of 1:30 AM. His date had the same curfew. Do you know how disappointed I was when he walked in the house at 12:10? When I asked why he was home so early, he said “the prom is over, nothing else to do” He's such a juvenile delinquent!

  8. What an awful experience, having to use walkie talkies on a vacation.

Think about it, it is totally naff and an awful sight and uncomfortable for others.

    .

I find is so odd and rude the way you respond to people. And for that reason, I would follow you around using my walkie talkie. :D

  9. Funny story. My mom and I took my son on an Alaskan cruise when he was 15. I had rules set for him. Like he had to check in often and had to have dinner with us unless there was an activity in the teen club at dinner. He also had a midnight curfew. No problems until the second to last night.

Every night he and his friends would go to the hot tub around 11:00. The second to the last night he came and got his swimsuit on and said he would be back at midnight. I guess I was extra tired and fell asleep. I woke up at 4:00 AM and my son was not in the cabin. I quickly got my clothes on and went searching.

The feeling and thoughts I had were horrible. I was sick to my stomach. I go down to where the hot tub was and no one was there. I went from floor to floor. Finally a young man that worked on the ship asked if he could help me. I told him my situation. He said there was a young man in a lounger with his girlfriend at the pool. I go up there and sure enough, there he is in a lounger on TOP of a girl with a blanket over them. I marched my butt up there and slapped him on the head. He looked up at me and to my dismay......it wasn't my son. The looks on the boys and girls face was priceless. I asked if they knew my son, which they did but didn't know where he was.

I went back to the elevators and heard a bunch of laughter from the deck below. I went down the stairs and there is my son with a bunch of kids just sitting around talking. My son’s eyes were as big as saucers when he saw how mad I was. His excuse was he forgot his key and didn't want to wake us.

Needless to say, he was grounded from the teen club the last night. The ship gave all the kids white shirts for everyone to sign. The kid I slapped on the head wrote on my sons shirt "I will never forget your mother" The shirt is a keeper!

  10. I have to disagree - the best way to get a response or action in today's world is to tweet a company. They responded in less time than it would take me to wait in line at guest services that they would pass it along to the management of the ship. Plus - if it is an issue with the management of the ship "not caring" then talking to guest services wouldn't help anything. When you get corporate involved then there is pressure to address it.

Perhaps my view is a little different, but I don't believe that crew should smoke, hang out or talk on their personal cell phones on public decks. It's not that I feel they are "less" than me - it is just what is a standard in the hospitality industry. Why even bother having a crew mess, crew bar or crew outside area then?

For some reason, I do think you believe they are less then you. I'm just curious how this is hurting you in any way. Have they verbally assaulted you? Do they smell bad? Are they ruining your vacation?

  11. I cruised to Alaska last year on another cruise line. I always went to the same smoking area. There were always crew members sitting there smoking. I never thought twice about it.

If they get a break, it's usually not very long. It would take up their entire break time to walk to their area. We shouldn't forget, they are working for us. They are people too. They are not caged animals. Yes, they do have their own area of the ship, but I have no problem with them mingling with me. I enjoy talking to them and finding out about them. They work hard. Probably harder then any of us ever thought about.

  12. It's going to very hard to not show your excitement. But I think you need to act dumb. I'm willing to bet he is just as excited that he is giving you such a wonderful gift. You don't want to take that away from him.

This may be the longest two weeks of your life.

  13. I am really on the fence about this. Do I think stealing is right? Absolutely NOT! But I also think RCI is stealing from it's passengers. Think about how much they are making on one bottle of booze.

I normally don't drink a whole lot. I was really conflicted on whether I should buy the drink package. My next cruise is in October with my whole family. I figured I might drink more then normal so I went ahead and bought the package. For someone like me, RCI will probably make a lot of money. I was afraid my bar bill would be pretty high if I didn't buy the package. Since I can't see into the future and I don't know if I'm going to feel like drinking on any given day is why I was conflicted. $10 to $12 a drink is ridiculous. It's total robbery.

Again, I don't condone sharing a package. But I also don't think RCI is being fair to their passengers. It’s all about money.
