  1. The Music Director treated us like we were 'Pro-Singers'! He had no mercy or patience with dear Mannie.

He was a little softer on us...we were the paying choir for his Concert!!

We (the choir) did rebel and asked that Mannie be treated gently..Mannie had to sight-read these very serious music scores..dim light..

The fun part was meeting and listening to the voices from around the world (actually it was Upper USA states!).

It was neat to experience the power of a professional musical director..

    Lots of fun!

  2. I am sitting at home listening to Christmas Carols...

Don't know what's happening this December..so I wanted to give a heads-up to December sailers..this could happen to you!

Sailed last December on the Equinox and I signed up for the Christmas Carol Concert..remembering back to childhood..Key of C & D..

Exciting, fun and once-in-a-life time event!

Orchestrated by the Senior Music Director, accompanied by Manie on his organ..lots of fun..lots of rehearsals...challenging and exciting.

We filled the Stair Case top to bottom in the Grand Foyer and we sang our hearts out.

p.s. Wardrobe? Red tops please and big smiles

  3. Hi Beth! It's me-Anita

So good to see your post. I did Equinox December 9th(?) 2015.

I found lots of things changed since our last cruise together. As described on this forum 'cultural artist activities' have vanished.

My cruise was a 10 nighter - no art classes..no speakers.

As you know me - I brought me beads, handiwork and watercolour package (from our last cruise together) and created my own fun.

I am booked on the EQ Jan 9th for 11 nights of fun!

    Anita

  4. Check out your Roll Call Membership and ask for interested Bridge Players. Saw this happen on Equinox in December..granted it wasn't perfect for all the players...but Guest Services did make an effort to accommodate the bridge group.

  5. hello,

Anyone know if the 2nd bookstore on 17th is still with us?

In the strip plaza across the street from Ross/Staples/Dollar Tree.

I will be staying in the area pre-cruise in the next month..I have always found great books to read-and-leave on the boat.

    Thank you

    Anita

  6. Hello - For years the website recognized that I use Canadian Dollars..so it has always showed pricing clearly in Canadian Dollars.:)

..yes like everyone else I was checking pricing on my confirmed booking.

..yikes..the new 3BBB pricing is American. Yes there is a notation AM beside the price...so we now have to convert $ figure into Canadian $$.

Our dollar is sinking as you are reading...bring out those calculators.

    Anita

..maybe a missed a new currency conversion button?...

  7. ..this grass event reminds me of the Joni Mitchell song..'paved all the parking lots'..........charged all the people $5..

I would be more interested in seeing a usable small herb garden along side the grass. Something of interest..a small sign & suggested uses. Feature herbs in menus..

Roof-top gardening..flowers for the decor..be creative..it's a rich feeling to touch let alone smell a flower, sage leaf.

Just an idea if X is looking for new stuff

    Anita

  8. ..wow..what a hot topic..surely every cruise line/timeshare owner/financial planner is reading in great $$ interest..Celebrity delivering over 2000 potential customers (some unhappy) to their doorstep...a captive audience

..Celebrity has published dates, times and locations where the sophisticated entrepreneurs can offer 'special' evening tours..

...for just $10 a couple..climate controlled (with security) bus tour to local casino, nightclubs, bistros.. $90 package for $10 with seacard ID..

If would be even funnier if another cruise line started 'overnights' at the same ports...'Come and visit OUR ship's bars, bistros, entertainment venues..just show your seacard..welcome to my liar

Disclaimer: Just booked one of the last real 10 nighters: Dec 11 2015 Eastern Caribbean..what a deal..Thank you X

  9. Hello All.

I am organizing the famous Slot Pull, Equinox. January 2015. I am curious about your slot pull events...

Was there a favorite machine that everyone liked to use? $$?

We are planning to do $15 = 5 pulls @$3.00

Did the casino manager get involved in choosing machine?

What is the best time? Early or late afternoon?

finally..any improvements in set up/organization that you would recommend?

    Thank you for your help.

    Anita

  10. Sharon and all CCPosters, Thank you for your wealth of information, patience and sense of humour.

I just cancelled Hilton Marina @$259 (2 nights January) and re-booked with Hyatt Regency Pier 66. Bingo! Hyatt offered $199 with Costco membership.

The 2 properties are literally across the inlet..I can walk across the bridge for $60.

The Hyatt offered a 'Cruise & Sleep' $269 pack which included wifi breakfast & upgrade room. At this late date they couldn't offer an upgrade..so I will stay at $$199 and see what happens at check in...this is like playing blackjack.

    Merry Christmas

  11. Cute idea...

BUT if i read the bolded part correctly..

Sadly, YES it is against the Terms & Conditions of one's Cruise Contract exchanging services for money

See if I can find the relative clause

If I read incorrectly (I appologize), and it is just a fun time no money exchanging hands... Then ya totally do-able.

    Cheers!

T'hank you JohnB for your kind insight & comprehension. At no time would I challenge/question X Terms & Conditions. I have the highest respect to X. ..I just pictured the dear soul from California in her room struggling with her hair because she 'drew the line in the sand' with the spa $$. K.Regards to all Yellowhat..from Canada

  12. ..rather than struggle in your room alone with your comb..

    Who is full of fun?

Why not post a light-hearted request on your Roll Call..calling a talented hair stylist? Nail stylist/technican?

Out of 2000+ people, there could be like-minded souls equipped with their special combs and pins and curling iron..few laughs and drinks and new friends that appreciate the 'underground anti-establishment' economy. :p

There is no issue that guests cannot afford to pay for spa services and guests are trying to make some $$ on the side..it's the fun factor.

On roll call you can exchange names and set up a 'date' just like high school.

    Have fun:cool:

  13. ..so sorry to hear about your c/card $45K..

Old Canadian trick is to have a $500 credit limit card.

Transactions beyond the $500 credit limit are refused...zero..nada..

Great for internet purchases and such.

..your c/card # and expiry date are very very valuable information that is sold around the world..phone transactions..etc

P.S.: Credit card companies HATE these $500 cards..tell them to issue a second card from your existing credit card limit..and make sure that they will KILL any transaction over the $500 limit.

    Love CCritic.

  14. :)I sailed the Sun in March 2014. 11 night. Fantastic. The Best. The wrap-around-the-whole ship promenade was worth every cent.

Yes NCL Food is world-'famous' - but don't get discouraged.

I ate every night in MDR.

THe menu showed what was available - meat, fish, vegetables, etc.

I simply asked (with a gentle tone and smile) for the offered meat/fish, double offering of the evening vegetable and asked for any sauces to be put 'on the side'.

I even asked for a 'hot' plate. (Prevented the food from getting cold)

I never never had problem. Everyone (dozens of staff) would be so gracious and kind.

..the sauces and salad dressings can be interesting..so it's easier to serve yourself.

I Love the Sun. Kind and gentle crew. They just need to know what you have in your mind.

  15. Yes. Movies in CCentral would be fantastic.

How appropriate then to have Celebrity offering celebrities in the Movies?

Movies make great employees.(think in-door recess staff).

    No wages. No overtime.

You don't have to feed them.

    Results are consistent.

Easy to create a 'theme' offering..musicals..era..comedy

    How about a 'I Love Lucy' marathon?:D

After 25 years of retail, happy customers/cruisers forget about the petty picky things.

Just too much laughing and too much popcorn.

  16. Thank you antsnanny for the visual link to these type of wire baskets promoting individual portions.

These wire baskets reminded me of a Fisher-Price 'Let's Play McDonald's' kitchen set.

... have any guests rebelled by dumping one or 2 wire basket contents on a real plate?? (a real plate from an alternative food venue)

Who started this wire basket thing? Casinos? The basket manufacturer?

Just imagine the cost of cleaning/sanitizing these wire baskets compared to 'real plates'.

Is the wire 'plated'?..will the 'silver' flake off???

    Silly silly

  17. As I travel solo (..thus single), X offers me security and safety and total comfort that I have absolutely nothing to be concerned (worried) about. I am 'free as a bird'. Any concerns that I might have discussed with Staff were addressed without me feeling like a weirdo...(I am sure I gave Staff their daily laugh for the day)

Calm cool and the best holiday that I could ever have.

From where I come from, imagine walking around outside (!) at 4.30am enjoying the early sky. Thank you X

(Plus thank you CCritics for the enjoyment)
