I think we will have to wait two weeks to see if any passengers or crew come down with COVID....that is if they get tested.....I read on one CDC comment from a medical professional....that a required test after passengers return is the only true test of cruise ship spread... they would have to see a cluster with like dining.....group activities...etc. that would assume that passengers were tested pre cruise....and all tested negative.
-
I agree we have to see...but I think we are seeing what it might be like reading the reviews from Europe.....there has been a number of responses on Apple News...all I have read have not been good...one cruiser stated that it was a little like being in isolation....as almost all interaction between crew and passengers was very brief.....we have a few scheduled cruises in nov. 2020. (Not).....and late 2021.....hoping for the best
-
I just finished reading a review from one of Europe’s cruise to nowhere....it didn’t seem like the cruisers are ready for the changes. Only 150 allowed in the theater....the rest watch from their staterooms...Music had to be slow so no one would dance....Most bars not opened......masks always....Don’t know if I am ready for the new look of cruising....waiting to see how this next round goes.....at least there will be ports.

As of yesterday the Bahamas has banned entry to Us residents......Since cruise lines are thinking about short cruises .....an Key West is thinking about not allowing cruise ships....how will this play out?
-
It not just CDC now.....the Bahamas need a negative COVID test before you can enter their waters....this is going to be a real problem for cruise lines using Caribbean ports...everyone on board would have to test negative within 7 days of reaching their waters...how is that going to work? We were going to Boat to Abaco in September...but are now reconsidering...we have to have an approval from the local government And negative test before we can enter their waters.

We just went from a celebrity suite to a royal suite on nov 30......may not happen.....and we get 19.28 back......
-
Maybe it’s us and they way we have been treated by celebrity...we have over 7000 in future cruise credits with celebrity....we have rebooked several times and those cruises have been cancelled.....giving us more cruise credits.....we do not get the extra 25%, as we keep rebooking with FCC. We have been told that does not apply....Refunds are never an option...we are long time Celebrity Cruisers but we are also over 70....We are running out of cruises we wish to take, because we have opted for shorter cruises...normally we would have 4-6 cruises booked with deposits..but because we don’t want to ties up more money we have not advanced booked. That is revenue celebrity is losing....we are just two people, but what I am reading many more members feel as we do.

We cancelled under cruise with confidence .....no refund ..just fcc.....rebooked had that cruise cancelled....rebooked again...November 2020......Questionable.....we have over 7000 tied up with Celebrity.....and may never get to use it......We use to have 4 to 6 cruises booked at one time.....will never do that again...if they would have offered To refund our money, we would have rebooked in a minute. This may well be our last cruise with Celebrity, if we ever get to take it.
-
I know your are right.....which is okay.....we want the cruise industry to survive....But not everything they are doing is in the best interest of their consumers....I know we feel differently about Celebrity in regards to booking cruises in advance...sometimes we would book years in advance.....now it’s a month or so....because of their policies on refunds.

This might have something to do with an email I got from the Florida Attorney General, last week....I sent a letter to the NC attorney General in June about Celebrity not willing to refund money on cruise with confidence cancellation rebooks that were also cancelled...I could not find other suitable and affordable cruises to work with our schedules. celebrity did not respond to NC....so they sent it on to FL.......I got a reply from FL saying they were looking into the thousands of complaints on price gouging, bait and switch, non refunds by the cruise lines....it appears to be a blanket letter.....not just about Celebrity......I imagine this could lead to some sort of class action taken about these same problems.....
-
I think bringing the crew back may be a big problem for the lines....I was reading that some of the countries have high rates of Covid....I would assume the crew would need to be in quarantine for at least two weeks before they can reboard. This could be a logistical nightmare.
-
Looks like Celebrity feels there may be many more cancellations......

I just read in the “DisneyInsider” that the Disney higher ups are thinking DIsney will not open until January.....anyone else heard that.....
-
Seems Royal has changed the wording on their travel advisory. Check it out
-
It seems that Royal has changed the wording on their travel advisory.....hope Celebrity follows

Still trying to confirm the accuracy of the email

Just a FYI...I just got an email from Elliott Forums, a consumer advocacy group that RCL as removed the “fit to sail”. We will see
-
It appears. RCL has removed the requirement for the doctors note.....That is from Elliott Forums.....a non-profit consumer advocacy group......

That usually happens during the cruise....and usually it is only one port....But if the ports are changed before the cruise, will we be given an option..... I think cruise lines tend to not think about other costs the cruisers incur.....transportation, pre and post lodging...food costs, parking, clothes unique to a certain cruise...I don’t want to fly to Florida for a Caribbean cruise and end up in the Bahamas....(I like the Bahamas...but been there, done that). Had one cruise diverted because of a hurricane ...going to Bermuda..ended up in New England....I did not have the proper wardrobe....gave us onboard credit to buy jackets.....lol.

Another issue here is what happens if booked cruises radically change the ports.... will we have the opportunity to cancel for refunds ? We have future cruises booked to ports we want to go to....I would not want to be forced to go to ports I have no interest in.

May crew that have returned home may not come back.....I imagine the crew, in most cases, does not have a great view of how they were treated...that would mean training new crew members....that take time....
Another issue could be the predicted surge in cases as States reopen.

Done the Edge...I still like the smaller ships ...Millie and the Connie......

In our younger days we very seldom were in our stateroom....now we use the balcony and sitting area often...enjoy canapés and drinks in our stateroom....even have some dinners and breakfast in room..so a suite makes sense.
The Infinity
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
Is something going on with the Infinity.....Celebrity cancelled the Nov. 16 cruise.....we have a cruise on her Nov 30......You can still book that cruise....but on the downloaded website it said the Infinity is not supported at this time......I cannot get into my reservation....even through Captains Club......when I called I got a vague answer .....but no information.....Any ideas?
