1. Did they TA say that you were bring given first shot at the pre-inaugural? In other words, do you have a chance to get the same stateroom?

Actually they did ring me with a good deal, so yes. But they didn't hold that deal. I was a bit upset at the time over the change. By the time I'd rang my friend to tell her and check if I could change our transportation to Southampton it had gone up by £100 pp. so the plot thickened. Anyway we have ended up adding it to our 17th April Itinerary. So we are sailing on both.

  2. Also just been told that another cruise had been add on the 14th which means I am not on the first sailing. ..

Does anybody know what can be done in regards to credit or refunds etc

I guess you will have to contact your TA or RCCL if you booked direct. Tell them if you want a refund. They haven't sold you what it said on the tin now they have slipped another cruise before you.

I'm still going but I'm not happy.

  3. We are also annoyed Royal Caribbean have added this cruise on the 14th April

As we specifically booked as it was a maiden voyage.

We received an email this morning offering a discount of £50 against the new sailing.

However, we are still looking forward to sailing on this magnificent ship.

I'm hopping mad as they say. A Maiden voyage should be just that a maiden voyage. I was offered the same. But why do we want to sail out of Southampton twice in April you can expect any weather.

    Totally dissapointed

  4. I'm booked on the Maiden Voyage. Was so excited as its my first Maiden trip. To get a call from my TA this morning saying its ready early so they are doing a Pre Inaugural would I like to add it. I'm furious. A Maiden voyage should be just that a Maiden Voyage. So sail out of Southampton in April for 3 days to sail out again for 5 days !!!!!!!! Not happy.

  5. We were on this cruise and the main reason for the delay was bad weather and seas coming around Denmark and heading for North Sea so to avoid it Captain made decision to sail further west than planned before heading south to avoid it so therefore the 2 hour delay. We were told this by the Captain yesterday and the "swimmer" in the channel was not the reason just a slight delay. While on the subject we thought the food in MDR was good, buffet poor, entertainment choice poor and service througout the ship by bar staff very poor staff seemed miserable and short staffed especially International Cafe. We are Elite and it was the worst Princess cruise we have been on and she was very shabby in places.

    Thanks for the info.

There were a lot of cheap deals out of Southampton on all lines this year. We did a RCI cruise June and I could of written what you have about that cruise. Are all the lines slipping due to over capacity in Southampton possibly and selling cheap deals ?

Hope this is not going to be the norm.

  6. Keep an eye on Royals UK website. If you see a higher grade cabin offered for sale at slightly over what you are going to pay, they will upgrade you on request, my UK based TA has got that for me.

If the TA tells you Royal says no, ask to be included on a 3 way conference call or to be copied into an email trail and try again.

Thank you for this information. I appreciate it.

  7. This is exactly why plan on moving to Florida after the kids graduate. We cruise often now, but we want to cruise even more and be able to take advantage of those last minute deals that we can't now because flights would be waaay too expensive. Some day :D

Wow. Wouldn't that be amazing. :)

  8. Definitely call. We've taken advantage of this before as well. We couldn't get the huge price drop because it was after the final payment date, but we were able to get into a JS from a D1 for free.

Well. I'm even more disappointed now. I made that call to my TA and I'm told if I want to upgrade it will cost me £300 to a higher grade cabin. It has nothing to do with what's on offer today to sell off cabins at this extremely low rate. They don't work the UK market the same as the United States.

Thoughts are. We have had Anthem over for a season and she's going back in the fall. I think there is far too much capacity for the Southampton market and they have loads of empty cabins to move.

  9. If you don't care about a specific cabin or about possibly not getting on the ship period and you have the ability to travel last minute then waiting may be for you. We book early as we have to be able to plan our vacations in advance and in most cases we have specific cabin we want. We could always plan everything in advance, but wait to purchase our cruise last minute. But, I'd prefer to not end up in a departure city without a cruise reservation either because they sold out or the price ends up being more than we are willing to pay.

Yes Adam totally agree with you there. This particular trip we can drive to the port. I've done it 5 years on the run. Every time I've seen the price drop but never by this much. We are now able to go when we want. It's made me think.

  10. Many cruise for 2016 and 2017 have gone up in price. One cruise I have been tracking (Panama Canal) has gone up $1000 CDN for 2017 from 2016.

Yes. I have noticed that. And then when they don't sell this happens. With exception of busy times like Christmas and New year.

It's a choice one makes I guess. You pay it or don't go. I'll wait and see if they drop it when they don't sell out. I expect it to drop at last minute if they have a lot of empty cabins but £700 pp. ridiculous.

  11. Well I have been cruising for some time now.

Never have I seen my RCI Med cruise reduced by £700 per person and offering more extra benefits than I got by being a loyal and faithful follower.

Next year. I will be waiting till the last minute to make my booking.

£1400. Is a lot of money to throw away for being loyal.

Let's hope they upgrade me. I live in hope.

  12. My Son is taking their daughter on her first cruise. Age 3.

What can they expect re children's club ?

Do they take them to breakfast or dinner on any days of the cruise. Generally what can they exoect from the service. Ship is Explorer if it makes a difference.

    Thanks.

  13. I will be so dissapointed if this is true. 3 cruises booked. How dare they lol. Isn''t this what luxury cruisung is about. I say move it to a better location.

Where is Celebrity when you need them. Would be good if they would comment please.

  14. Yes Ed & Barb totally agree.

Hate these new promotions and price games they are playing. Ive booked a Christmas Celebrity Cruise. Ended up with $850 of OBC. I would rather have the lowest price. Most of my friends are waiting to book .... Say the price is much too high and are playing a waiting game. Be interesting to see if they reduce the prices if the bookings don't cone in and remove these complicated deals. Only 3 so far on the Roll Call.

  15.
I experienced just about everything in this thread.:)

We had $300 OBN (from X) and $475 OBR (from the TA)

I stopped by guest services and they told me that they took the money from OBN first.

I went to the casino and took out $200 and $210 was taken from the OBN account.
I spent an additional aprox $100 on gifts and Bistro on 5.

The night before we got off of the ship, it stated that we had a $462 credit.

The day after we got off of the ship $462 was put back on our charge card.

Nice! They did what they said they would do.:)
Thanks. Just what I wanted to hear. Appreciate the information

Thanks to everyone that has posted. Happy now.
