  1. Until January 31, it is permitted to bring all the wine you want. You weren't 'caught' because you weren't breaking a rule. :) (Assuming by case, you mean case of wine, not beer.)

    Until Feburary 1.........

You assumed incorrectly. It was about beer, which this thread is about.

  2. If you try to bring alcohol (liquor, beer, or wine over the limit) you WILL get caught. Maybe not today, or in the past, but maybe tomorrow or at some point. Save yourself the embarrassment. :o Buy your beer onboard.

In over 20 cruises, never been caught. Usually bring a case onboard at embarkation and more at the ports. And if they do eventually take it, no big deal. I still came out way ahead.

  3. HAL will order anything you want. Call ships services. My rum is only $30 a 1 ltr bottle. Super cheap.

Not true. I asked if they can get Belikin beer form Belize, Presidente beer from Dominican Republic, or Mack and Jack African Amber from Washington State. The answer was, no.

  4. I hope this isn't a flame issue but will ask anyway. Do you have a favorite CD and why do you like them? Lets leave John Heald out of this one as I know so many have a love/hate relationship there. I am interested in knowing the reasons people like their CD's! Who do you like to see on the ship you are sailing! Do they cater to you? Do they stop and see if you are having a good cruise? I have sailed numerous times and I only have 1 who stands out! I will save that for later and why?

My favorite CD is AC/DC's Back in Black.

  5. I'm not saying that they are lying, I'm just saying that the reasoning doesn't make sense if it applies to only part of the year.

    1. Fuel regulations along the West coast would apply Sept-May also, not just June, July and August.

    2. Do cruisers sailing out of West coast ports spend less money in the summer months than in the Spring, Fall or Winter? I'd like to see those studies.

    3. The cruise I was mentioning starts in Vancouver and ends in South LA.

It could very well be that there just isn't the interest in that itinerary and so the route is not profitable if they can't fill the ship, but I find it hard to believe that the time of year has anything to do with it.

South LA does not have any ports. It was formerly called South Central LA. It is many miles inland.

  6. This is my first time posting on here, but I'm no newbie to cruising (In fact, I've been on 12). Next year I will be graduating from college with a nursing degree, and I was wondering if anyone had any info on nurses on cruise ships. I think working on one would be amazing, but I don't know what lines require in terms of experience or what ship life is like. I figure I should do this type of thing while I'm young and don't have a lot of commitments yet :) Who wouldn't want to cruise 24/7!

My parents are platinum on Carnival and I'm two cruises away :) If I had the choice, Carnival or Princess would be my go to lines so if you know any bits of information I'd love to hear it :)

It's not like you would be on vacation 24/7. You would be working exceptionally long hours. You wouldn't be able to see family and friends for 6 months at a time. No thanks.

  7. I found this information online and thought it would be useful for anyone debating if the cheers program would be worth it to them or not.

The question many are asking: "Is it worth it?"

Program Cost = $49.40 per day with gratuity

    Sample 1

    5 - Martinis

    ($8.95/per)

    = $51.50 with gratuity

    Sample 2

7 - Top Shelf Vodka Drinks

    ($7.50/per)

    = $53.63 with gratuity

    Sample 3

    8 - Domestic Beers

    ($5.75/per)

    = $52.96 with gratuity

    Sample 4

    4 - Domestic Beers

    3 - Sodas

2 - Drinks of the Day

    = $50.43 with gratuity

If you can drink on average one of the samples above in a day, this program will save you money.

Wouldn't be worth it for us smugglers. 2 liters of booze, 6 bottles of wine, and a case of beer on our last cruise. $100 compared to $700, we will keep on smuggling.
