  1. Hang about a minute people have commented that my thread was not the real experience and that your negative one was - you can't have it both ways that people with a negative opinion are allowed theirs but if our positive experience and opinion doesn't align with yours that we're somehow wrong?

I can appreciate there are others who didn't have as good an experience as we did - doesn't mean any of us are in the wrong. I enjoyed speaking to a few of the people - there were others who I didn't continue speaking to as their negativity was like being in a mood hoover!

I haven’t read your thread, nor have I claimed your experience not to be real. Like I said people will always have different opinions on everything, that’s life. I’d hardly say that the negativity was like being in a mood hoover. The problem here is that you are loyal to your brand (MSC) and you are struggling to accept that some people simply don’t like what they have experienced.

I am not loyal to any particular cruise brand but I have sailed with RCI more than any other. However I understand that some people may find RCI awful, and that’s fine.

I have sailed with NCL a few times too, I really like what they offer and that style of cruise, I noticed earlier that you had a bad experience on NCL and won’t return, and that’s fine. It’s great you tried it, formulated an opinion and voted with your feet. The people on here who had a bad experience on MSC are simply doing the same thing.

    Happy Cruising... 🚢👌🙂

  2. I enjoyed chatting with Nicola who we're seeing again in a couple of weeks on Fantasia, and Mark who had been on the earlier cruise, it was the whining in the background - jeez is a camping kettle that bloomin important?!

So you did enjoy the get together?? I’m confused...

It seams you are clearly struggling with the fact that a lot of people were unhappy with certain aspects of their holiday. Please just remember that we are all entitled to our opinion, even if it’s different to yours. ;)

  3. support group? more like a glass of wine and whinge, was glad when it was over

You could have left at any point. I didn’t see anyone holding you back...

I’m sorry you don’t like the fact we didn’t enjoy ourselves on MSC. But that’s just life. If everyone liked the same things, the world would be a boring place.

  4. We were also onboard for this 2 nighter from Hamburg, and we, as others have been, were tempted over by the status match offered by MSC.

Now let me first say that we (me & my wife) got this 2 night cruise at an insanely cheap rate...

HOWEVER, it was the worst cruise we have been on by far!! Total chaos. I found it quite worrying watching the staff being completely clueless during check in, departure, and most off the time whilst onboard. God only knows how they would all react if there was a real emergency!!

Black card privileges were non existent, other than the black card we were issued we got 0 other benefits. We did not go to guest services and request any of them, as we couldn’t be bothered to join the ridiculous queue...

I’m sure you loyal MSC cruises will be pleased to know that you have got 2 less black card members, as we won’t be sailing with MSC again. Each to their own, we will be sticking with RCI, NCL, and we will probably try some other cruise lines too.

Some positive did come out of this cruise... We did meet some great people onboard at our litttle cruise critic get together, had quite a few drinks and a real laugh discussing our experiences of MSC. 🍹🤣

    Things they got right;

    - Great Pizza

    - Great Coffee

    - Great Gelato

  5. Majesty of the Seas- 2/17/18:

I have a question....how many servers did they give you for your reception. With the bar being closed, do you feel people were able to get enough drinks? Also, what did you do during the reception? Speeches...dances...ect? Did you have DJ, or do a bridal party entrance? Thanks

There were x2 servers walking round with champagne, and they also opened olive & twist bar. There was plenty to drink!!

We had a pianist at our drinks reception, so there was some dancing. We also signed the wedding documents. Everyone mingled, had some drinks we also did a lot of pictures! We did speeches at the evening between courses in chops grill. We did not have a DJ.

  6. My opinion is that prices have increased across most lines. As someone mentioned in an earlier post, there was a big price hike when we decided to leave the EU and the pound tumbled against the dollar. I also agree that when NCL moved the uk market to premium all inclusive, they most definitely added a bit on!!!

We made a booking quite recently and used a US agent and paid in $$$, we are saving over £300pp against the U.K. Website and pricing. That's for identical booking.

  7. Hey everyone, we have a group booking for feb 3, 2018 on harmony of the seas - cant wait. Looking for insite into venues for weddings and also how to go about a reception. Its a long ways out but so far unimpressed with royal weddings group but cant do much about it. Any insight or photos or experiences is appreciated.

We got married on Freedom back in 2013.

We did find the whole planning / pre cruise aspect very frustrating indeed. As you will already know, you have to use the royal romance department in Miami. They take ages to reply to emails and rarely answer the phones.

Let me just re-assure you as to the fact that the second we checked in at the pier, the crew and wedding coordinator onboard the ship were fantastic.

We were married at sea in the sky chapel by the captain, and we had a drinks reception in cloud 9 next to olive & twist. We booked all our party in to chops grille for the evening. There were 26 in our party in total.

We used the ship's photographer and added an additional hour of her service to ensure we got the pictures we wanted. She was exceptional.

If you have any questions, me or my wife would be happy to answer them if we can.

  8. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

We are not sailing on freedom until Oct 25th. Hopefully if any repairs and or dry dock is required, they should be completed by then. We are marrying onboard with 25 guests, that wont be easy to re-arrange onto another sailing...

  9. My first cruise with P&O is on 25th April on Britannia.

We have sailed on RCCL many times before and we have always been at the port for around 10am and are usually onboard before 12. I can't imagine P&O would want hundreds if not thousands of people within the terminal building...

I will be arriving around 11am. No matter what time I get allocated...

  10. Appreciate you taking the time to do this live thread. Thank you.

    I have got a couple of questions;

Can you please let us know if the casino is "smoking"

If you get a chance, could you please take a couple of pics of the sky chapel above Viking crown lounge. We get married in there later this year and would love to see it beforehand. Thank you in advance.

    :D

  11. That and the pics I found of 1864 on Navigator is what I was basing my input on for sure. 1864 appears to be as big but clearly has a regular bathroom from the pics I came across.

Also, 1864 is booked by a few cruisers here. No one has mentioned anything about it being accessible.

Im also why wondering why on Freedom, these are category F cabins but on Navigator they are P1 and P2.

I have just spoke with RCI, i tried to change my cabin to 1864, i was told that this cabin is reserved for guests of 3 or 4 in one stateroom ONLY. She confirmed that it is not an accesable stateroom and that it does has the same square footage as the one on the opposite side that is. They changed our room to 1862 with no problems.

  12. A lot of the RCCL fleet is getting on a bit bar the new flagships such as Allure and Oasis.

I guess you would need to compare Britannia to Quantum to have a level playing field.

The old ones are probably due to become Thomson's "new" ships soon.

BTW - is there still a Haribo factory shop in Ponty?

Royal would struggle to get me onboard the Quantum class ships, i dont buy into the Dynamic Dining crap... Ship looks tacky in my opinion...

Yes, Haribo shop is still attached to the factory, and still open. They are currently building a huge new factory on M62 @ Normanton. Not sure what will happen to shop and factory in Ponty when this is complete though.

  13. I think you will enjoy the change and P&O's newest addition, then when you do go back to RCCL you will appreciate the benefits of both lines more.

I do think Britannia will be more like a RCCL cruise than any other ship in the P&O fleet.

    Enjoy!

I think the Britannia looks better than a lot of RCCL ships. the CGI images really do it justice...

  14. Me and my fiancee are also new to p&o, and we have also sailed 8 times with RCCL.

We have just booked our first cruise with P&O on britania, April 25th.

Yes royal has all of the WOW's but we very rarely used them, ie we watched the flowrider but only tried it once, we never went on the rock wall, we never went ice skating, we never went on the zip line, we never went on the carosel....

We really enjoy RCCL and we do get perks for being crown & anchor diamond members, but there has to be a point where you give another cruise line a try. One cannot make any comparisons until you have something to compare it with.

    With reference to RCCL pricing;

RCCL have announced to there investors this quater that there new strategy to get people onboard is to offer additional "freebies" and not to reduce prices. I am not entirly sure this is the right way to go, as more and more people will always compare prices with alternative lines. Not everyone wants a "free" drinks package.

We are really looking forward to our cruise on Britannia with P&O, i think the ship looks amazing and i am looking forward to something different to RCCL.
