  1. And we would kiss "Angie" and her agency good-bye...forever :(. There are plenty of decent high volume cruise agencies...and one should expect that they know about these kind of credits (and perhaps other credits of which you would not be aware).

    Hank

As set forth in my post, she had tried once before and been told by Celebrity the b2b credit was not available due to all the perks we had already received. When she went back she got someone who knew the correct answer. We are pleased with her and have developed a relationship over time, hard to do with a high volume online agency. It makes a difference to us.

If you have a better specific suggestion we would like to hear it.

  2. Due to the recent change in policy by Photobucket I am trying to find another method to link to photos. Have been trying to use Shutterfly, but it will not allow me to upload. Just says the attempt failed, with no explanation. They do not appear to have any way to contact them for help, and the various FACs are not on point.

I am running W10, photos are on the hard drive accessed through 'photos', which is probably windows based. I have not been able to find access to photos on hd without using 'photos'. It appears the Microsoft does not play well with Shutterfly. Any ideas on how to work around it or make it work in some other manner?

Also, more than willing to use some other online hosting site if there are recommendations.

  3. Two years ago were on the last Alaska cruise of the season in September and saw a lot a whales. We were with Floyd of F.I.S.H.E.S. in Icy Strait point. Saw bubble feeding as close as legally possible, about 150', a whole family of curious seals staring at us, and a momma bear and cubs. It was a wonderful excursion.

  4. As a result of this thread I contacted Angie at our large online TA and asked her to go back to Celebrity and press them again for the credit. Within a couple of hours she replied she had done so and we now are receiving b2b credit!

    Sometimes it pays to Persist!

    Thanks, everyone.

  5. Re: Celebrity b2b credit - We had our TA ask for it and were told it was not available because we received too many bennys already (drink package and $300 OBC). Wonder if we should try again????

  6. We are on a b2b in August on the Millennium, same ports up and back. Since we have cruised Alaska before we intend to be very laid back this time. Will do things we did not consider in the rush of first timers (snorkel in Ketchikan!), take leisurely walks, and generally just chill. May not even leave the ship on some of the ports, enjoying our 'private yacht' while everyone is gone. Alaska is so wonderful we will not even mind some repetition. (Would never consider it in the Caribbean.)

Besides, anywhere is better than Texas in August!

  7. Based upon prior cruises and what I read on CC I believe that the Captain and Hotel Director have more influence on the quality and experience of a cruise than anyone else on the ship. They set the tone and quality of service for the voyage and are instrumental in establishing and maintaining the morale of the crew. They can make a ho-hum cruise fantastic, or vice versa.

That being said, does anyone know who the Captain and Hotel Director will be for our late August Alaska Millennium cruise? If so, what can you tell me about them?

  8. From what I read Celebrity does not have a uniform policy for b2b passengers. Sometimes there is lunch, sometimes not. Sometimes you must disembark, sometimes not. Is there any way to find out ahead of time what they will do on our cruise? We are doing a b2b to Alaska on the Millennium in August, with turnaround in Seward. Would sure be nice to get a bag of laundry done.

  9. In reading a lot of reviews is seems that the same ship can have wildly divergent opinions over time. Recognizing there are always 'different strokes for different folks', there appears to be some similarity within time frames.

I think the crew makeup is very important, probably more than the ship itself. Is there any way to predict whether you will have a 'great crew', or just and average one? The Captain certainly sets the over all tone, with great Captains seeming to inspire outstanding performance from everyone, but is that all one can track? Does the supervisory crew come onboard as a group, following the Captain, or are they just a random mix assigned to the ship? How can one search for particular personnel and when they may be assigned to a ship?

  10. Would be curious to know if all the hype to which the OP refers was from friends or the source. Did he know about Cruise Critic at the time? As I am sure he now knows, one can get a wealth of information on CC, which might have been of immense help in deciding if cruising was for him, and determining the best cruise fit for his expectations.

IMO, CC and TripAdvisor are absolute 'go to's' when we are planning any trip or cruise. Have avoided a lot of mistakes and saved a lot of money.

  11. We have gone with FISHES once, and are booked again this year. It was a fantastic trip.

I believe they have a reasonable refund policy for a cancellation. I would suggest you book with them and check closer to your date. I bet they will have enough pax and you will be assured a seat. If not, just cancel iaw their terms.

I sincerely doubt you will be disappointed.

  12. I have spent some time looking, once I decided I needed a new compact camera that is waterproof (snorkel Alaska!) . I decided the Olympus TG-4 most closely meets my needs and have tried to purchase one for the last 10 days. It seems everyone, including the Olympus store itself, is out of stock unless one wants an international model. Finally found one at Roberts for $349 today.

  13. If you are an Amazon Prime member they make 4-6 books a month available to download for free without being a Kindle subscriber. They are often #1 of a series to try to get you hooked, so the quality is not bad. I have 4 or 5 loaded on my Nexus 7 so if I do not like one I can try another.

You can also download issues of a lot of magazines.

They appear to be subject to the 10 book limit on Kindle.
