  1. First, I guess. would be that I have heard the same rumor for the past 40+ years of cruising. And I can't confirm the rumor nor deny it, but, my tipping method is probably more generous than many people's. I auto tip, give the cabin steward a $20 on day one and another $20 on the final day, before disembarking the next morning. I tip $20 each extra to the MDR waiter and assistant waiter. If I have had any special requests for the MDR Maitre'd I will them $10 or $20 depending on what the request was. I don't typically use room service but when I do, for coffee in the morning, I give them $2. I am not rich by any means but I figure if I can afford to take a cruise and can spend $10 - $12 a time or two or three a day for drinks that I can afford $100 - $150 extra for tips. The people on the ships work long hours each day and much of the time it is on broken shifts, 4 hours on 4 hours off then 6 - 8 hours more that day. So they deserve every penny they get as do the people you don't see on a daily basis. People in the laundry, kitchens, cleaning crew, bathroom attendants, etc. So please don't remove the auto tip and if you can and want to throw around a few more dollars. State room attendants are totally surprise when I hand then a $20 on the first day, before the ship has even left the dock. And you can bet they are very grateful for it.
  2. And you will get the same kind of response you see on here. i tried but couldn't get through but will try again.
  3. I know right. It is just totally disgusting that you can only order 2 lobster tails and prime rib. How uncourteous of them. Geez. If you are that big of an eater, maybe staying home and spending the cruise money on restaurants would be a better fit.
  4. We live in La Porte, about 15 miles east of Houston. We have used the Walgreens on Spencer Hwy and Underwood Rd. for our last 3 cruises. You can make an appointment either 6 or 7 days before you want to take the test and there are a large number of openings for everyday. I suggest you locate a CVS or a Walgreens close to where you intend to stay and make an appointment, before you come to Houston, as long as it is within the 6 or 7 day window. If your cruise is on Saturday, you can test either Thursday or Friday. We always do the test 2 days before cruise day, in case you get a false positive. Gives you more time to get a second test. If you do it at Walgreens the test you want is the Rapid NAAT Test. It is a drive up test, at least it is at the Walgreens we use. If you are Ubering to the location you may want to call the store to see what their procedure is. Even with Uber I imagine they would be happy to take you to the location and pull up to the drive thru and wait (and charge for time) while you do the test. Only takes about 2 or 3 minutes per person to do the test. They call and give you the results on your phone. We get our results within about 30 - 45 minutes. I don't know what CVS procedure is, but probably the same, But I would call the store just to verify. But it is a really simple process.
