Interesting that it's a proposal FROM the leading cruise trade organization TO the White House.  Sounds to me like the cruise industry doesn't want these folks to cruise, but doesn't want to seem like "the bad guy."

Actually it sounds like the cruise industry wants to keep things from getting even worse thus FORCING the entire industry to shut down.

Forget the pundits and the chartists....and MSNBC and be a bit wary of information coming out of the US government....this is an election year so facts can take on a political overtone (on either side) 🙂  Think about the cruise industry.......think about if COVID-19 spreads (very highly likely) to the US....think about cruise ships being refused docking like the MSC ship.  In that environment, do you think folks will still go on cruises?   I'm sure there will be vaccines, drugs developed quickly....but would you make the final payment on a cruise today or next month?  Would you even take a "deal" on a cruise in early summer if folks do cancel out?

    I'm holding...but I bought my 100 shares for $1400.....and I'll hold them because I'm a very long term investor.

I also bought my 100 shares in 2019 and am holding-not selling. RCL has taken about a $50 hit and people are running to get out. This is the time to BUY. In 2009 things looked terrible but that was the time to buy.I have been in the stock market and the time to buy is when everyone is scared and selling.

I am currently on a cruise and the Future Cruise desks are jammed. I just made a final payment that only had a $200 deposit for an European cruise. I'll take my chances.

If you don’t like the ships, you don’t have to sail them. There are many other choices available between the M and S class ships.

I am currently on the Edge now for the first time and barring some incredible itinerary I will never get on another Edge class ship again. I do 40-45 days on Celebrity a year and I am running back to M and S class as fast as I can.

Sorry to hijack this thread-- I will go away now.

  4. OP here. Thanks for the help. I looked at a Google map of the port and I still can"t tell how long of a walk it is from the garage to the ship. I think that I will be fine dropping off the luggage and walking back to the ship. My big concern now is getting OFF the ship. Do we have to carry all of our luggage back to the garage and if so is that doable for most people?- Or can one of us pick up the car and  come back for the luggage?

    Thanks

  5. We are sailing on the Edge out of Terminal 25. We are also in a suite. If you could help with some questions please.

We are driving. Do we park in the middle parking garage?

Do we drop off our luggage with all the other luggage or is there a different place for suites?

I am assuming that we drop our luggage and then go park-Due to being older I hope that the walk is not too far

We are planning on arriving about 11am to 11:30 and hope that there will be plenty of parking.

I have searched other posts but get conflicting information.

    Thanks for any help

  6. Wow! DYKWIS -I am impressed. I had never heard the word "preprandial" and just looked it up. I will be using that in the future and and I am looking forward to the blank stares that I get. Thanks for the word-I learn something new every day. ps I know it's a great word when my spellcheck keeps telling me it's wrong

  7. I tip the first day at the Martini Bar and am happy to report that this tip i.e. bribe gets me excellent service for the rest of the cruise when I tip again. Not to be a wise guy but I usually have my drinks while others are frustrated waiting and cannot understand why they are waiting so long.

Is it fair? -I don't know. I just know that I never have to wait for a drink.

TA's were most likely hedging their bets on selling their allocation at a good profit for them and below the established Rack Rate was for those cabins...

The release(s) most likely came from several TA's rather than just one.

    bon voyage

Maybe but all 30 cabins appeared two days ago and all at the exact same time. I am not saying that Celebrity did anything underhanded. I just find it being a rather unusual coincidence.

  9. Friends are sailing in a nearby cabin and our choice is limited to one of these three cabins. We will be on the Summit but I assume all M-Class ships would be similar. I am concerned with noise from above or any other information that someone would have about the good and especially the BAD about any one of these cabins.

I have searched but I found very little information available. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  10. I have looked all over and cannot find any answers.

    1. Are the cabins under the Oceanview Cafe (Concierge?) still noisy from chairs etc. and where are the doors to the crews quarters?

    2. Looking at cabins in the 6042 area, where is the door to the crews quarters?

I am looking at the Summit AFTER being revolutionized but I guess any revolutionized M class ship would be similar.

I know these are rather specific questions but any help would be appreciated by those who may have experienced these areas.

    Thanks
