  1. We are booked on a RC cruise out of Boston this October.  We will be flying in a day early, to see a bit of the Boston area before embarking on our cruise.

We have never been to Boston.  Any suggestions for a hotel?  Or at least an area that would be appropriate?  We will not have a car and will be dependent on Uber.

We have lots of Hilton Honor Points, so a Hilton would be nice but not necessary.

    Thanks

  2. We did this in January and had no issues with cars going too fast.  Everyone was very nice and patient with us!    We had a really great day!   There were 6 of us with 3 golf carts.

It’s been a while since you posted this question… but I am booking  a Celebrity cruise this summer with my 8 year old and am wondering what you discovered about the app for your kids? Do you need to purchase the internet package for it to work?

in general, how did you like celebrity with your kids? We haven’t pushed the button yet because celebrity is so adult oriented… TIA!

Hi there!   Yes the kids were all able to use Celebrity's free app.  They all just downloaded the app on their phones.  We all used it to check in with them.  The only down side is it does not notify you when you have a new message.  We told the kids they needed to check their phone OFTEN to look for new messages.  The little ones had to check in every 1/2 hour .....in other words they had to send a message to their parents every 1/2 hour.   At least at the beginning of the cruise.  Once every one got comfortable, it was not as often.

Our kids had a ball.  They loved the activities, used the pool (and hot tub when adults were not in them).  They played with the 'games' in the kid area and really enjoyed trying all kinds of new foods every night.

  4. We are attempting to get 5 cabins in a row for our family.   We will be traveling with 6 kids, but we are unable to get ANY adjoining cabins for March of 2024!

When we traveled on Celebrity, we were able to open the balconies on all 5 of the cabins....creating a VERY long balcony and allowing the parents to get in and out of the kids rooms without going into the hall.

Will this be doable on the Oasis?  We are looking at the balconies facing the sea, not Central Park.

We will be on the Edge in January. We have anytime dining . So can you still make a reservation for anytime dining or is that not a thing anymore. I know Celebrity was still allowing you to make a set dining time on the Summit in July. Thanks

Yes, we just got off the Edge last week, make your reservations for dinner now!   If trouble with the website, just call C and they will do it for you.

Once on board, most reservations are already gone.  You just go when your ready and wait, just like normal restaurants.  But on Edge, no close bar or seating to make your wait enjoyable.

Thanks all!  We are going ahead and booking a SV 🙂  DH is fairly sure he is going to like the IV but I am on the fence.  Don't want to take a chance and have the SVs all sold out before we get a chance to experience the IV in Feb and book onboard.  Black Friday promo seems pretty good too!

We just got back from the Edge in our first IV cabin.   We will not book again.  Was just a room with a floor to ceiling window.  When you open the window....even a crack, the air goes off!

We did Hawaii in a SV room many years ago and it was wonderful!!!   Go for it!

  7. Is there any kind of a 'town' where the tender lets off the passengers?   Trying to decide if its worth getting off the ship just to wonder around the port area with no excursion planned.

Has anyone done horse back riding on the beach while on a cruise.  They happen at West Bay (are a couple of vendors) and start at 2:00pm  Rides are 1 1/2 hours and our ship sails at 5 pm.  We have to take taxi to and from ship. I am worried we may not make it back to the ship in time and wondered if anyone has done this.

We are looking at doing something very similar with Spirit of the West.  We would actually swim with the horses!   The only drawback is we have to provide our own transportation to and from the ship, about a 20 minute taxi ride.  Has anyone done this?  Any information would be appreciated.

If you're looking for a private tour guide I would recommend Gone Caribe.  We just got back and both DH and I agreed it was one of the best tours we've ever taken.  They will customize it to whatever you want to see/do.

    Thanks, we booked with them!!

Our only visit was in 2014 and we rented a car.  Back then, there was an Avis at the Mega Pier.  We docked at the other port and walked over to the Mega pier.  We loved Shete Boke and the flexibility we had with the rental car.  I did go full coverage since we were in a foreign country, but it was easy to get around.  Curacao is always at the top of the list of islands that we have visited and Shete Boke is the biggest part of that.  We stopped at several different locations in the park and also did a little hike.

thanks so much.  We will definitely plan to spend some time there.

True, you do need wifi for this to work. But we always get wifi, so this is a good solution for us.  We were on Millie last week and  it again worked well.

Interesting, as our 360 only showed as a 'blip' in the middle of the ocean, not where anyone was on the ship.  Not real helpful.

Thanks. Hoping we will able to do the same.

We had 7 that needed tested.  They allowed up to 4 per session, and scheduled the other 3 immediately following the 1st session.   When the 4 of us that went first were done, the lady did the last 3, even though the last 3 had been given a different link.  She just pulled up their names and went ahead and did them too.  It was so very easy.  All 7 of us were done in about 20 minutes.

They only asked for Drivers License or Passport for Identification and do request Insurance and you can just select no insurance (I think they use it for other medical virtual doctor visits).  No SSN but do ask for Date of Birth, Home address.   Pretty basic information

They did not ask us for DL or Passport.   We also had 6 kids that we had tested.  They did not ask for Birth Certificates.

Did the registration require all the keys to the kingdom?  (Social security number, birthday, health insurance number, passport, drivers license)

No  I believe it was just name. DOB, and address.  We did not give SS number or DL number.  Nor did they ask for insurance, as you are self paying.

    Thanks Anne,

You were right, nothing like the ones on the Edge.  Not at all what I was looking for!

    Hope you enjoyed your cruise.
