  1. Lori & Andie,

I was on the Breakaway to Bermuda in August last year. Yes, the pools are crowded. Doubt ANY ship of similar class could handle all the guest to the point you'd feel like you were at a motel pool. Lines for the water slides weren't that bad. 5-10 mins though that was for the "adult" slides.

That being said, you are going to Bermuda! 3 days! Lots of beaches! Sure you'll hit the water at some point.

As for non-paying restaurants, I had no problems when I went though did dine early.

Would not hesitate to take the same ship/cruise again. Enjoy!

  2. Usually there is no need for reservations as they have plenty of scooters. Rent for 2 days if you want. I rented one around 10:00 AM or so and returned on the 3rd day before 10. They have a drop off if you want to do that earlier so as to not be bothered on the next day. There is scooter parking right next to the ships. Works out well. Lock and go.

  3. The Bahamas one covers more ports, which suggests possibly more things for us to visit, but we are concerned the weather may be too cold.

Not really as time is not on your side on the Bahamas cruise which is the opposite for Bermuda. Nice to have a couple days in one place should weather be a problem.

My first cruise was to Bahamas. Second, Bermuda. Did more in Bermuda. Did more on the Breakaway also.

Going a cruise for the first time will be nice no matter which you pick. Good luck!

  4. In 2013, major cruise lines are expected to welcome 17.6 million passengers — or more than double the number from just around a decade ago, according to the Cruise Lines International Association. On top of that, the lines also introduced new ships — 13 in 2012 alone and 167 since 2000. All that spells serious competition, with ships trying to offer adventures and amenities that set them apart from the rest. More...

Some might find this worth a read.
