Your second question should have had the opportunity to answer:  will wait and see.  Am not convinced we will be cruising in January 2021.  I certainly have nothing booked for then.  I'm hoping I get to use the pieces of paper called FCCs which will be reissued to me because I used them on some cruises which were cancelled, but I'm not optimistic about that.  Celebrity is in a very precarious position.  LLP drove them deeply in debt with her new ships and all the refurbishing.  She initiated stock buybacks and paid out big dividends to keep the stock price high.  Thus no cash reserves.  How's that working out for you now, Lisa?  They just drew down the last of their credit reserves.  I'm just hoping I get the money back from my cancelled cruises before they go belly up.  I am exceedingly grateful to all those who are accepting 125% FCCs and not draining their cash reserves.  Am cancelling the Iceland/Greenland one today prior to final payment to get my $900 deposit back.  And, there's the issue of whether or not they might condescend to let me board one of their ships since I'm over 70.

Always appreciate your point of view.  We were among the first people to get cancelled for our March 15 Silhouette. in hindsight I can now say we were completely STUPID in even thinking on going. We were going against the advice of our federal health minister. I was even considering FCC then my alter ego the accountant in me said, " Take the refund Stupid". We took the refund.

Cartagena was fascinating and beautiful. I highly recommend the ABC islands. Unlike Cartagena, we weren't harassed by hawkers on any of those three islands. Definitely a bonus though I would love to go back to Cartagena as well.

Hello, Still here and loving your report.

I meant to comment on your Cartagena comment re "hawkers".  Prior to our 2017 visit to Cartagena the most aggressive peddlers we experienced were at Dunne River Fall Jamaica. Then when we visited Cartagena wow! the peddlers in Jamaica had nothing on the very aggressive annoying peddlers in old town Cartagena. It is too bad because that is the one thing that sticks out in my memory of a very beautiful and historical location.

Yep! This was the same guy, Ian B. Garcia,  on Silhouette last March 13, 2019. Now I think I am wee bit younger than you guys and was really too young for the Beatles and I am more of a Paul McCartney and Wings fan. I owned "Band on the Run" & "Venus and Mars" LP's. I really enjoyed the show and it was actually my favourite from the cruise.

On another topic. Ken wore his Dirt Shirt, a gift from our son & daughter in law after their trip east, one day.  When he wore that shirt on our 2018 trip he got so many "Are you from P.E.I.?"s, the we were wondering if there was a busload of you fine folks on the ship. This time, I don't think he got any greetings.

Okay it is all coming back to me now. Our group of six were on that same 2018 Reflection cruise with you and a good chance it was one of us. I believe we were both on Deck 10. I went back and checked your 2018 Trip Report and of course I remember reading and posting to it. Yes! there were a few other PEI folks on that cruise that we ran into also.

This was our crew of six all from PEI on the 2018 Reflection.

The PEI Dirt Shirt is a staple in my cruise suitcase. (circa 2010 Equinox)

I'm catching up on photos. I edit in Lightroom and then transfer them to Flickr before posting. Our rural internet is really slow. I'll go for a spin on my indoor bike and then get back to this with photos of our dogs, the snow we got & Fort Lauderdale to start.

Just catching up on your Photo Review and the above quote had rung true for me and have to add my two cents here.  I felt your pain(past tense). I suffered for many years for an overpriced terrible DSL provided by our largest corporation in Canada. It's sisters company in Atlantic Canada, Bell Aliant, is rotten to the core with the worst customer service ever.  I like you also use Lightroom but I use Smugmug to upload my photos for my Photo Trip Reports (PTR). The upload load to Smugmug was brutally slow. Thank God! Our Local cable company Easlink was doing upgrades on our roads and I can happily say I love my connection and Eastlink and $60 cheaper a month with no troubles at all.

  6. I hear you OP.  Our cruise was the Sunday March 15 on the Silhouette.  Stressed started for us on Monday 3/9/20 when Cdn Gov issued their recommendation not to cruise. We were resolved on going despite the many doubter around us. Friday morning checked in online for our early Saturday morning flights than drove over to Halifax. That 3.5 hour drive was very calming because no social media no added anxiety from the "are you still going?" gang. Then stopped at Costco to return an item and pandemonium was "full on" the parking lot was full... like Christmas times 3. People behind us in the parking lot said, "don't go in there". Then we heard the dreaded words I did not want to hear from our provincial government "Those retuning from outside Canada must self isolate for 14 days."  Then we started to doubt if we should go. Also received phone calls from employers warning us of the 14 day isolation period if we cruised. We were already past the Celebrity 48 hr deadline for FCC. What to do? Anxiety mounting especially for DW. Was able to get a hold of our Travel Insurance rep and  confirmed we were golden if we wanted to cancel. We were real close to cancelling while video chatting with our cruise partners in Ontario. DW, Donna, was convinced to cancel me not sure. Anxiety mounting. Then we read a post on our roll call that RCL had cancelled and this was at least 90 minutes before RCL had officially published it on their corp site. Done! decision made for us.  Had a reservation at Embassy Suites in Fort Lauderdale cancelled and thank you to Hilton corp for extending their cancellation period for us since we were past 24 hours.

Next "cruise" stress level is to choose between FCC or refund. Currently working from home now since most government agencies here on PEI are stressing social distancing.

Thanks Kevin. And thanks for the information about making corrections. Beautiful photo. Where is that? How are you feeling these days? How disappointing for you. My brother his wife and my cousin had a trip booked, for early April that they canceled while we were out to sea. I see that Fort Lauderdale declared a state of emergency on Friday the 13th; the day we left. You wouldn't know it from the airport or cruise port. Not temperature testing, only a few basic questions, a quick look at our passports. Same thing in Toronto. We had to make a declaration on a computer and have another terrible photo taken but it had nothing to do with our health.

Today was a tough day especially seeing how beautiful of a day it was in Fort Lauderdale and seeing Silhouette docked via web cam and us not on it. This is our second cruise that we missed out on since 2016.

That 2018 picture of Reflection was taken from the 17th St Causeway Bridge in Fort Lauderdale which is my second favourite cruise watching spot. Of course my favourite watching spot is here in Charlottetown.  Keep safe in Ontario.

  8. Welcome back to Canada. Thanks for taking the time to share.  We left for Halifax yesterday what was suppose to be a 6:00 AM flight to FLL today and then pickup Silhouette this Sunday for a 12 day. But we all know what happened!  We drove back to Prince Edward Island  this afternoon. Things changed quite a bit since you guys embarked on your Reflection cruise. On Friday things happened real fast.  We would have been facing a 14 days isolation on return had we left Canada. Our first case was reported today for PEI and the word is she was on a recent cruise.

I will sit back and enjoy your photos.

BC and PEI have implemented this for their residents, but I'm not aware of any federal requirement as yet. With all of the rapid changes, maybe I missed it.

How Is this ever going to be policed / regulated?

  10.

I am a Canadian Traveller and my question is not about the "Cruise with Confidence" credit I think I understand that one.  But I am interested to know will I be refunded or credited the items I have already paid for on with the Celebrity Cruise Planner in advance of sailing such as Specialty Dining packages, Upgrade from Classic to Premium, and excursions.

I figure if I am to cancel it would probably be best to first arrange and cancel my purchases for refund then cancel my cruise for credit.

Anybody with experience with that they can share. Please no "I think this..."  Thanks!

On entering our room I use sanitising wipes on the remote, the bathroom toiletries bottles, door knobs and telephone. Takes only a couple of minutes...We also then thoroughly wash our hands aware of the multiple surfaces we have touched in the hotel lobby, the taxi, the cash tips for the porters....After that we use every sanitizer we see, rarely use public bathrooms and keep washing our hands. Other than that we relax and enjoy our cruise.

The above was all to do with noro and is our routine in hotels as well as on cruises.

Cards I hadn’t considered...perhaps a quick wipe over once or twice a day.

As others have said you can’t avoid all bugs but if everyone tries their best....

I have read that you have done this in the past posts and kind of thought "then" a little over kill. But, now I agree 100% with your process. In fact on our upcoming cruise next week we will be taking some sanitising wipe with us for the first time.

  12. Very much enjoying your recount of your trip. Thanks for taking the time away from your vacation to share with us. I don't think I could do a live blog. It just takes me so long to do a unlive trip report from home.  Thanks again and enjoy the rest of you vacation.
