  1. I doubt it will get the Magic. I am betting Triumph. They don't sell out at a price to need the Magic.

I agree with this. San Juan cruises may sell out most of the time, BUT most of the time it is the cheapest (or close to the cheapest) 7-day offering available on any Carnival ship. Its an awesome cruise, but I think a lot of people avoid it becuase of the airfare to San Juan.

I doubt the Magic will go to San Juan. Likely Triumph. But maybe they will have Triumph and another ship there? Doing 2 differnt cruises? THIS WOULD BE AWESOME! San Juan gives you soooo many more choices of islands to visit within 7 days. This would be my dream scenario, so I could book another cruise from San Juan w/o going to the same 5 islands I visisted last time. (I doubt this happens though, for the same reasons I doubt Magic will go there. No reason to increase capacity in a port that already sells cheaper than most other Carnival homeports.)

  2. Am I the only one who thinks this may not ne as successful as they hope considering the fee for it? Can't see having to pay to watch a movie when you can go to Lido and watch one. Also, will this effect the Seaside Theatre?

If the IMAX really is showing first run movies, while Lido is showing older movies, it will do ok. Im not saying I would go see a movie, cuz I prolly won't, unless there is a rainy day or something, I spend my time in the sun.

  3. In order to do a reposition cruise (with guests on board) from NY to Miami, they would have to visit either, Aruba, Bonaire, or Curacao. So this might explain an 11 day journey from NY to Miami.

Cartagena, CO or Trinidad and Tobago would also be options, but your right that it will most likely be one (or more) of the ABC islands.

One other option, it could be an 11-day journey from New Your to San Juan, followed by a second seperate cruise from San Juan to Miami, since San Juan is exempted from the distant foreign port requirement, and often serves as a start/stop point on 2 leg repo journeys.

  4. 1. Book Early. DCL prices are the lowest they are going to get on the day the fares are released. (Except if a cruise doesnt sell out and you can get a GT rate, then booking late might be cheaper.)

    2. Book during the off season. Prices are lower, ships are less crowded, there are many less school age children on board. Even if you have school age children, dont go during the summer! Pull them out of school for a few days if you have to.

    3. DCL is worth a premium price. How much of a premium you a willing to pay is the question. I personally would not pay 8K either, but 4-5K during the off season is way closer to the ball park, and the Carribean is GREAT during the off season anyway.

  5. MDR does stand for Main Dining Room, even on ships where there are multiple Main Dining Rooms it is still MDR. Most Carnival ships for example have 2 seperate MDRs, but depending on your assignement you will only eat in 1 of the 2 each cruise.

You are correct with Disney that there are 3 rotational restaraunts, but to most all 3 would be MDR. The alternatives to the MDR would be the buffet area (not actually a buffet for dinner on Disney, just sitdown service in the buffet area.), room service, Palo, Remy, etc.

  6. I'm thinking it is the Limelight Lounge on deck 4.

The disco will share space with the main show lounge (Liquid Lounge) just like on the Sunshine.

Limelight Lounge is used for the comedians at night, so it ciould not be used as the disco, unless they move the comedians to the main lounge, but that seems unlikely given its larger size, and comedians prefering the more intimate venue.

  7. I would love to see the Vista or Magic in New Orleans. They could leave the Breeze in Miami.....They can move the Dream to Galveston and still have a big ship ported there....

Would it be freaky if they move a big ship back to Long Beach to do Mexico....

I am going to try to do the Breeze this year of I can get around paying the full fare myself as my friend will be able to pay her share. My cruising friend is going to Cozumel (and I happily pay the full price myself just to hang with my American bestie for a week).....If the Breeze falls through I'll be on the Glory to HMC....which won't bother me at all...

Carnival won't be sending ant "big" ships to the West coast until the Panama Canal expansion is completed. WAY WAY too costly to have to sail them all the way around the tip of South America. Even then I doubt Long Beach gets a Dream or Vista class ship. Maybe a Conquest Class. The Mexican Riviera just isn't as popular as the Caribbean for cruises these days. (Maybe if Mexico ever gets their sh*t together, it could be again, but until then, its just not.)

  8. Oh you're paying for it on Disney,:D

I did the Dream last year and am doing the Magic this year...and it's about double the price of other cruises..but hey, my kid is only going to believe in princesses a few more years so I'll fork over the cash.

I just about had a HA when I tried to price their european cruises.

Disney certainly is a premium price, but for a premium product. So its true, more should be included in the price with Disney. I actually didn't even watch any of the movies in the Walt Disney Theater last year, never got around to it on a short cruise, maybe on a longer one though.

I also did the Dream last year and my daughter LOVED it (Mommy & I did too!), so we are doing the Wonder this year to try one of the classic ships to compare.

I am with you on Europe, I looked at those prices and was astonished! The trick with Disney is to book the day the fares are released, or if the ship still isnt full, last minute. anything in between and the prices are off the charts. I booked our Wonder cruise this year the first day it was available (to non-gold/platinum) and got a very reasonable rate. Today that same cruise is more than TRIPLE what i booked it for! TRIPLE!

  9. Vista is not going to Cuba. Travel to Cuba solely for tourism is still illegal, and that is unlikely to change anytime soon. There is no way Carnival would be planning where it's brand new ship is going on the hope that the embargo may be lifted in time. NO CHANCE!
