  1. We proceeded through customs in short time. The buses were there in 10 min. or so. The driver put all the luggage in the bus and he unloaded it at port. We arrived at port around 1. We were able to upgrade to a suite for believe it or not 50.00 for both of us so we were on the ship in no time. I should say we were on the Reflection. The day if departure we were off the ship around 830 but then we had to go through customs and that did take some time to do so. We left Miami on time and had a very nice dinner ( by airline standards) I was surprised by the meal. They also give you what you want to drink, and headphones for the movie ( that could be better) and we werehome in no time. The service on the aircraft was excellent. They told me that the are based in Alberta and fly northern runs. Celebrity sent me an email of a white aircraft with the word Celebrity Cruises on it. It would be nice if we get that one.lol

The age of the passengers 40 and up. I am one of (the up)

When we go on a cruise we go to Buffalo the day before our flight. And we stay in Fort Lauderdale for 2 days. When you think of the cost of meals flight hotels transfers and tips it does add up. This way we can just drive over to the airport get my Tim Hortons and just relax. There you go a short novel on you question. All in all I think that Celebrity did a fantastic job. I am sure you could find other people that could say that Celebrity could have done a better job but I did mot hear any complaints. One would think that they must have done a great job or they would not have sold out flights from Feb-April in 5 different cities. Hope this helps.

  2. Yes some of the points you mentioned did happen to so people. When we arrived at the airport in Hamilton 10 minutes from our house( made me happy ) at 545 there was no one at the ticket counter. There were around 20 people ahead of us. The First Lady in line fainted and there was a lot of commotion due to this. The EMS was called but she refused to go to the hospital. (As it turned out she was fine fir the rest of the trip) After things calmed down things progress well. There were two ticket takers and we were out in row 3 which was a nice location. We departed at 0800 and arrived in Miami at 1045 they told people on our flight where to go and what to expect once we got there.

Canadian North due not have a regular terminal at the airport that say Air Canada or West Jet have. So we had to go from terminal to the others which was somewhat of a walk. Wheelchairs were provided fir a few people who required them. One we go to the other terminal we had to go through customs like we could do in Toronto pre boarding. Or clear customs at the bridge when we fly out of Buffalo. It would be nice if we could pre clear customs in Hamilton but I do not think that will happen.

  3. We were on the April package last year from Hamilton Ontario. I was somewhat apprehensive as I had not even heard of Canadian North before our cruise. We have been on many Celebrity cruises in the past but not the airline. The airline is excellent. The direct flights the meals and drinks the service were fantastic. Last year they only offered it out of Hamilton and Ottawa. The response was so good they expanded it this year. Hamilton was sold out for all sailings months ago. They (Celebrity) said that response was excellent and the passengers were more than pleased with the product. That is why they expanded the offer to more places. I would hope that they expand it to other Western Provinces and American States. Who knows it may have been an experiment to see how a package like that would sell. I am sure that they will repeat it again next year at least here in Ontario.

  4. The IT department didn't fix anything for us. I just tried registering for our sailing - and still not happening.

The date isn't even showing as a valid sailing date. I even checked two dates AFTER ours - and nothing.

I have tried to register for the past 4 months for our cruise on Feb 8. I called the Captains Club three times and was told that they would report the problem to the IT Dept. And that it would be fixed. I would try every other day with no results. I was so happy to see your post on the topic. I went on and same thing happened this morning. Then on our roll call this afternoon someone posted that they were able to sign up. I jumped on it right away and was able to register. Now several people have posted on roll call that they were able to do the same. I am sure that we will have the required number within a day. I don't know why they would have the problem with one cruise and not the other. I would think that the only way for them to know is for people like yourself reporting it. Thank you for reporting it and I hope that you will be able to register soon.

  5. We are unable to sign up for the February 8 2015 cruise as well I have made several calls to Captains Club and was informed theywould report the problem to their IT department. This has been going on for months now. The message keeps coming up as an invalid sail date. Please Celebrity get it fix so we can have our meet and greet.

  6. Hi all, since this is my first cruise and is a total AI pkg (including chartered flight) offered to Canadians by Celebrity, our flight times and transfers are all made by Celebrity. I believe we will be arriving at the port by around noon. Any suggestions where we can sit and relax with a cocktail while we wait for our boarding time, which looks to be around 2:30?

We did the same package out of Hamilton in April. And are doing another one in Feb. in April we did not arrive at the port until 1:00 by the time you clear customs and get your luggage and board the bus to the ship it will be close to 1:00. When we arrived at the ship we were on in just a matter of 15-20 min. Don't worry it will be fine. You are going to be more than pleased with the package that Celebrity offered. They have sold out all the cruises in Hamilton,London.Ottawa and Nova Scotia for Feb March and April. They must be doing something right. Have a fantastic cruise you are going to love it.

  7. Air balance I am from Ontario and If you want a pie you should have a peach pie NOW. I am in the mids of making them and putting them in the freezer. I make a fantastic pumpkin pie but with the peaches the size of baseballs and so sweet when you cut them the juice just runs between your fingers. I would not expect any Thanksgiving meal on your cruise as I do not think that Celebrity acknowledges Canadian Thanksgiving. Oh well do not worry you can have the dinner when you come back. And I am sure it will be just as good.

  8. Kevin did you write a review on one of your Celebrity cruises? I remember someone from the East Coast who had a review last winter on their cruise with a step by step of their journey. I think that his name was Kevin as well. If that was you I just loved it. The pictures of the snowstorm and their cruise. It did make me laugh and I loved all the details. You are right about Celebrity selling out the packages. They all sold out here in Hamilton. They ran it every week from Feb until the second week in April. They said that it was such a success they added more departure cities.

  9. This seems more likely. I think, though, that it's not for the other passengers but the possibility of having to vacate the pier by a certain time....or pay more...just my thoughts.

We were on a cruise once out of Fort Lauderdale and the ship was 2 hours leaving. We were told that there was a chartered flight coming in from LA and they had to wait until they arrived. I really do not know what they would do if we have a major snowstorm and were unable to leave Hamilton. If you book Choice Air like we have done in the past they will get you to the next port of call. I would think that Celebrity would do the same. The last time that we went out of Buffalo we went the night before the flight. True to form they had a major snowstorm that night. We were able to fly out the next morning and spend 2 night in Florida before the cruise. I would love it if Celebrity would include a 2 night stay in Florida pre cruise. I suggested that on our evaluation of the package.

  10. Celebrity offered this out of Hamilton, Ontario last year, and again this year it is in our local newspaper weekly, again out of Hamilton - - only on the Reflection and it includes air.....

We have been on many Celebrity cruises. We were just thrilled to see that they were offering a package out of Hamilton. So we decided to go out of Hamilton this past April. We wanted to go in March but they were sold out. I have to tell you it was the best thing we could have done.

We are 10 min. from the airport and did not have to drive to Toronto or Buffalo. With the weather being what it is during the winter months we did not have to go to the departure city the night before which would mean paying extra fir hotel parking and meals or go to Florida a day or two before the cruise.

Our son drove us to the airport 2 hours before our flight.

I was somewhat apprehensive of what to expect as this was the first time that the package was being offered.

When we got to the airport the reps for Celebrity were there and we were checked in without a long delay. They had chartered a airline Canadian North that I had not heard of before this cruise. They service was excellent the food very good by airline standards. They serve you breakfast going to Florida and dinner coming back. They also serve all drinks coffee, tea, alcohol and soda. They give you ear phones to watch a movie as well. All thus us included in your package. When we arrived in Miami there were Celebrity reps there to tell us when we were to meet the buses. The driver took all of the luggage and loaded the buses and we were off to the port.

The cruise itself was wonderful. Post cruise the buses were there to take us back to the airport for our flight home. We were so impressed we are booked to go on another cruise this winter out if Hamilton.

Is it not cheaper to do it this route but it is less stressful and everything is done for you. Plus if the weather being what it can be if they cannot fly out they would make other arrangements. If you are thinking of going on a cruise this winter than I would give this one a try. I don't think that you would be disappointed.

  11. Gordon (from Goa) is our favorite butler to date. He was polite, informative and did his job well. I hope to see him again on the Relection this January! He was fantastic.

***Celebrity Take Note. He is one of the good ones... and should be recognized***

We had Gordon as our butler on the Reflection as well and you are right he was fantastic. We also had Dominic when he worked on the Summit last year and he was fantastic as well. We were very fortunate both times. But after saying that we have never had a room attendent that was not good. I think it all depends on how well you treat them and how much respect that you give them. I am sure that they encounter people that are not respectful and are demanding or just down right rude. I am sure they could tell some good stories of the passengers that they have encountered on some of their sailings.

  12. I'm sure it's because it is the championship round. I don't think you can compare that to regular season games and expect those to be shown as well. Do they show regular season American football games on the ships? Those would come ahead of hockey.

That would depend on who you are talking to and where they come from. Lol. Yes you are right about it being the championships games compared to regular season games as more people view the Stanley Cup games. All I know is my husband would enjoy watching the hockey games while on a cruise. This is a man that has three games a night on TV for the season. Come to think of it maybe it is good that they don't televise them in the ship.

  13. Hi all,

Good news! We've been informed that all of our ships will be showing the Stanley Cup Finals. One quick note is that every ship may not be able to show the games live, as that will depend where the ship is located at the time of the game. Some games may be on a slight tape delay.

With that being said, we have every reason to believe that Summit will have the games live. Hope this helps!

Very interesting. May I ask are the games going to be shown just because it is for the Stanley Cup or is it because NY and whoever wins the next round to be able to play as well. It would be fantastic if you could show all the NHL games on your ships in the winter months I know my husband and a lot of other Canadian as well as American fans would be very happy with that.

  14. When we were on the Summit to Bermuda last May there were no hockey games on the TV. They did publish the results in the daily news for Canada and US. I doubt that even if NY is in the finals for the Stanly Cup they will have it on TV. My husband who is a avid hockey fan will not cruise when the Cup is being played. I have never seen them show hockey games on TV on any of our Caribbean cruises. My husband would love it if they did.

  15. He had a ishemic stroke so all I am saying in his case the TPA worked if he had had a hemorrhagic stroke no it would not have without causing adverse effects.

I am sure the ships doctor would not have administered the drug without doing the needed work up that he had available to him on the ship. Everyone in any medical emergency on a cruise ship have to put their trust in the medical team onboard and trust they have the knowledge to cope with the emergency.

  16. Part of every crash cart are anti-coagulating drugs but as has been said without knowing whether the stroke is hemorrhagic or not they are not likely to administer them. The patient would already have to be on blood thinners for them to take that risk.

I seriously doubt they have TPA on board cruise ships and I know they do not have a CT scanner. A stroke in progress would be an acute situation calling for emergency evacuation as soon as possible.

My BIL was on a NCL 21 day cruise last week and suffered a stroke 7 days before the last port.He is a otherwise healthy 64 year old with no previous history of any medical issues. On no medication. Fortunate for him they did have TPA on board and it was given to him as it has to be administered within 4 hours to be of help. The doctor on board had previously worked in the neurological field. They were a day out of LA. They continued on till they reach LA and he was monitored in the sick bay till he could be met a port were a ambulance took him to a hospital in LA. He is now home and doing fine in British Columbia. I would hope that all cruise ships have TPA in their medical facility's as it can be a life saver. I think without it the outcome may not have been so positive.

  17. We had upgraded from AQ to a suite on our last two cruises. The first one for $100.00 for both of us and again last month on the Reflection for $50.00 for both of us.

We were pleased both times. You receive a dinner in a speciality restaurant for two included with the suite. There are other perks that you receive as well that you do not get with AQ. Plus you can dine in Blu if available.

To me it is a win win. I am sure you will enjoy your suite even if you do not have an opportunity to pick the location.

  18. Let's see:

The OP asked: "How Celebrity can afford the drink packages?"

My comment was about the cost of the drink package for Zenith members.

    Seems highly relevant to me.

Besides, when has relevancy become a criteria for posting? Threads often take on a life of their own. But in this case, my comments were on topic.

Orator if I remember correctly on our April 12 cruise on the Reflection you posted on our roll call that it was your 17th cruise this past winter with Celebrity. That cruise you became a Zenith member.

After doing all these cruises with them plus all the many others that you have done with Celebrity I can understand why they would give you all the for mentioned perks. If one would calculate the cost of all these cruises it is the least they could do for you.

Our granddaughter and her husband who worked on a cruise ship. She worked in one of the shops and he was an officer told me even if they sold two drinks from a bottle of liqueur the bottle would be paid for.

We received the drink package as one of our perks. I had 4 drinks and my husband had 2 as well as wine with dinner. Most of our non alcohol drinks were coffee and water.

The people that like to drink went for the premium package at a extra cost. I am sure that many people like ourselves did not.

Celebrity have done the number crunching and there is no possible way they would offer a program if the though that they would lose money on the program. One would think that after offering the pick your perk offer multiple times that they are not.

  19. We just returned from our cruise on the Reflection. On our cruise last May we had a butler by the name of Damion. We thought the he was the best butler one could ever have. He also did things beyond what anyone could ask for.But after the Reflection cruise we had a butler by the name of Norman who was just as good as Damion. Both times the butlers did everything they could possibly do to make our cruises enjoyable. I think that it depends on how you treat them. When some people are in a suite they seem to feel an entitlement to all their demands. If one ask in a polite manner and ask if it us possible to do so they both did everything that we asked of them. We asked for tickets to see Sin City and he got them for us. People that we made friends with said that they could not get them so we asked Norman and he had them that evening. He knew that I would enjoy breakfast on the balcony but since my husband does not eat breakfast he suggested to him that he would serve him coffee and pastries and told me to order what ever I wanted even if it was not on the list. So I ordered eggs Benedict. Well would you not know that my husband enjoyed it so we did it again the next morning. My husband told him he did not like the appetizers that they served and he ask him what he would like. We received shrimp cheese plus I asked for celery and carrot sticks and dip. He delivered the Canadian and American news paper every day. He even made me a camel towel and two love birds. He brought me coffee when I asked for it at his suggestion. And they helped make our cruises priceless.
