  1. Why not start reading the threads on this forum? Bermuda is an easy DIY.

I have been reading since we booked the cruise 3 months ago. I even made a document with tips (most are from you, SBtS). :)

Problem is that, since we only have 2 1/2 days in Bermuda, I would like to know what is worth doing most with the time we have.

Also, when it's your first time visiting, the info here can be confusing (dare I say....intimidating?!)

I'm a planner. Because of it, my family relies on me to have an agenda. I'd like to be prepared. I know everyone wants to visit the caves (I heard you need heavy jackets there because it's so cold??). The zoo/aquarium is optional (I heard it's nice but nothing you can't leave for next time). My DD14 is fascinated by the glass beaches and wants to go there. We'd like to also go one day at the best beach to see the "pink" sand. We want to experience Harbor Night. Would like to visit both St George and Hamilton. Want to do some shopping. Finally, see what expert deem a "Must See" in Bermuda.

I have to prioritize and squeeze the most into the short time we'll be there. Not easy when you don't know where you're going and how close the places you want to see/do are in relation to each other.

Now you know why I asked... LOL :D

Thanks everyone for the great advice!!! :)

  2. If seeing the island is your main priority my suggestion is to plan a day to hire a blue-flagged taxi (certified tour guide) for 5-6 hrs. You will be driven all around and shown the highlights of Bermuda, from the lighthouse to the Swizzle Inn and the beautiful beaches. If you are lay on the beach and relax types, definitely plan some time at either Horseshoe Bay or Elbow beach.

If you like history, go over to St George. Plenty to see there and lovely shops.

On our last day in Bermuda, (visit #5 coming up for us in Aug) we usually like to take the ferry to Hamilton for a couple of hours for some last minute shopping.

Check out the Bermuda boards in the "ports of call" thread here on CC.

Lots of info there on things to do.

Enjoy your cruise and Bermuda! It's a wonderful destination!

    Thank you!

  3. Sailing in August on the Summit and still trying to decide what to put on our "must do in Bermuda" agenda for the 3 days we will be there.

It's our first trip to Bermuda so we want to make the best of our time there. Our group is interested in seeing the island and its treasures but not snorkeling, sailing, high adventure type of activities.

Just curious to hear from the experts what you recommend doing. Also, if anyone has made such an itinerary and wouldn't mind sharing, I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

    Thanks!

  4. Let me start by saying that I have read hundreds of posts about the drink packages before deciding to ask my questions.

We have booked 3 cabins on Summit for August 2016. We chose the classic drink packages and OBC as perks.

1)We have DD14 in one of the cabins paying regular price (she is the second person in the cabin, NOT 3rd). She obviously got the classic non-alcoholic pkg that, as others have mentioned, does not compare to the classic alcoholic version as far as frozen (virgin) drinks, etc. Should we upgrade her to the premium non-alcoholic version or should DH (who hardly drinks alcohol but has the classic pkg) get her an occasional virgin treat on his card?

    2) I'm thinking of upgrading my classic to premium because I like San Pellegrino for water plus espresso martinis, and good drinks in general. If I am the only one to upgrade to Premium and order Pellegrino at dinner, will they bring a little bottle just for me or will they bring the bigger bottle and leave it on the table?

I don't want to upgrade to Premium if it will make it awkward for the rest of the table (family members).

    Thanks!

  5. I remember taking a bus there in the past several times to Bermuda...is that still an option and if so, does anyone know the price? We will be there beginning of August. thanks.

If you look at the post before yours, you'll see sunshine's answer with the price.

  6. Thank you so much, SBtS! Your explanation is very detailed and gives me the confidence that we can do it!:)

Just a couple more questions if I may...would it be easier if we got a taxi (there are at least 5 of us who want to go and might be worth the cost)?

Is there an entrance charge to the caves and BAMZ?

  7. My family (myself, DH, adult son and DD13) and my brother's (my brother, SIL and their DD16) will be going on the Summit to Bermuda in August.

As part of our booking package, we received extra on-board-credit. Everyone wants to do the caves/zoo/aquarium trip. Celebrity offers it as an excursion at $99 pp (our OBC would cover that) but, after reading all the great tips here, I'm thinking it might be easy (and so much less expensive) if we did it on our own.

It's our first time there so, in your opinion, should we venture out and do it ourselves or go with the arranged excursion? Also, is there a charge to get into the above mentioned places?

I saw the great list with bus #s that SBtS has posted here (thank you, fellow CT resident! :) ) but, realistically, is it doable by newbies?

    Thanks in advance! :D
