  1. We have a credit card but choose to use cash on our account instead because, honestly, I suck at budgeting my money on vacation. If I put $500 cash on the account, that's all I'm going to spend. If I use my credit card, I'm more likely to spend more than I budgeted for. We do bring a credit card with us while traveling, but we don't use it unless we have to like when checking into a hotel, renting a car, etc. I know my own spending habits and cash works better for me. We use cash as often as possible in our daily lives, too, because it helps us stick to our envelope system of budgeting. Not everyone wants to live in a cashless society.

Have you taken the Dave Ramsey class? Just curious.

  2. From this thread, it seems like they will likely be working on the 10th floor when we sail at the end of March. Just curious if I will have any choice in what happens if they need to work on the room we've booked at that time. I've been watching this thread, and it's really hard to tell what the pace is. It also doesn't sound like calling to ask will be worthwhile...

I'm much more interested in keeping my upper floor and cabin type over having refurbished room. I know they can change cabin assignments for a variety of reasons, but I'm not clear on whether we would be notified if it has to happen.

Has anyone had their room changed/moved because of the construction? Were you notified before check-in?

We were originally booked on deck 10 in a 4J but was asked to move to deck 2 OV I'm assuming because of the renovations.

  3. Garbo's - I loved it, my wife not so much. Its a food truck and she isn't a big fan of them. She did like the fish taco - I loved their burger

We decided to book our Victory cruise this year just to be able to go back to Garbo's. We love the food at Garbo's.

  4. Fru-fru drinks are the same just about anywhere. A lot if calories not a lot of alcohol. Nice around the pool IF it's really hot. I like any of the Long Island Teas. I think there's around 5/6 different types. All the same liquor with a different color. There's a Long Island Tea, Tokyo Tea, AMF Tea, Long Beach and the LA Tea are all I can remember. All YUMMY. And pack a wallop if you drink 4/5 over a short time. My hubby and I drink them all day and then if we have any drinks left on our Cheers we'll do To-Kill-Ya shots. (Tequila). 11 days till we board the Magic!!!

Whats the AMF? We do blue long island and Patron shots.

  5. That evening we spent a little bit of time at the casino and packing - DH had a snooze then went to the Mexican Buffet at 11:30pm. I am not a fan of Mexican food so I passed on that and just decided to stay in and watch TV.

Below are pictures I meant to add earlier :)

Did you Actually get turn down twice?

  6. Those are two very different experiences. Passion Island is like a Corona commercial, but the included drinks were very low quality. And I got bitten by bugs, even with repellent on. Compare that to Nachi Cocum. Top shelf drinks, delicious lunch, a dedicated server, hot tub, pool and beach. I depends what you are looking for, but I would not return to Paradise Island. We have been to Nachi three times and would go back on any sunny day.

    I agree 110%

  7. Last week, I took my parents on their first cruise on the Carnival Victory. My mother has mobility issues so we rented a scooter for her and booked an accessibility room (6205).

Unfortunately I would not recommend this room or location for those who may have mobility or balance issues.

For one thing, when it was windy, my parents had a very difficult time moving around in the room without loosing their balance. When we were in other parts of the boat we did not have as much of an issue on those worst days of the cruise.

I've been in an accessibility room on another cruise line which was on a lower deck and midship which in general would seem to be a better location for those with mobility issues.

The room also had several other issues such has a leaking toilet, the bathroom had a bad musty smell to it and the closet doors would not fully close and would rattle whenever the boat rocked. At night, there were load banging noises that shook the room.

I was also disappointed that the serenity deck was not accessibile without climbing several stairs.

We had a good time overall other than the issues with our cabin though.

Next time I will need to pay more attention to where the accessibile cabins are located.

You can get to the lower serenity level not just the upper.

  8. I am in a wheelchair because I can't walk at all. On my last cruise I had to navigate the Stewards cart and 2 scooters that were parked continuously outside neighboring cabins. I finally just told my husband if the ship were sinking I'd go down with her.

Please, please don't leave your scooter in the hallway. There are reasons for rules.

  9. I just want to say Thanks! OP for trying to find the owners. I know what its like to lose something and never get it back.
