  1. Over 9,000 views already…I hope that means you want me to continue. As I said at the beginning…I’ve never written a review before…then again, does this even qualify as a review? Reviews tend to provide useful information! What’s a better name for this…narrative…diatribe………I know……..manifesto! The Carnival Magic Manifesto…it sounds so official.

Uh oh…official sounding isn’t good…you might raise your expectations…I need to keep them low! We’ll stick with review.

I should have some time to write the Cayman Islands portion on Friday…the ports take a little longer. (Maybe I’m saying too much…let me know if you’re tired of reading my ramblings and just want pictures.)

Thanks for coming along on this journey with me!

(On a side note...the minions and I all got together last night...and...I was told to start looking for another cruise. It's unanimous...we're doing this again!)

Next up…Chapter 5 – Cayman Islands (Jump Seats, Underwater Camera Deaths…and…Swimming in the Fish Toilet)

Me! Me! I want to go too. Just let me know when and where.

  2. Unfortunately, no name changes. Tell dad to hold off on that breakup at least until they return from the cruise. :o

Here are the terms. It states that the deposit is non-transferable and no name changes are allowed.

  3. I don't post much here, but need to vent among like-minded people.

The past few years have been rough for me and my family. Hubby lost his job and got desperate enough to take one making less money. Things were tight financially but we were able to get by. I've been a homeschooling mom for 20+ years so we're pretty much a one income family. I'm not in the best of health so it would be hard for me to go back to work, not justifying not working, just explaining. :)

And, my dad is ill and my mother passed away earlier this year.

Hubby and I booked a cruise for October and I decided not to get trip insurance. We decided that we NEEDED a vacation and we were NOT going to cancel. If a family member passed away, we would miss the funeral before we'd cancel. We were that certain. So, like a moron, I booked Early Saver with no insurance.

Meanwhile, hubby's job got more and more stressful to the point that he felt he had no choice but to look for another job. Well, yea, he got one! A job! Hurray, right? Right. But, his vacation benefits don't start accruing until after the cruise ends.

I considered doing the "He's not here? He was supposed to meet me here!" no-show thing but with my luck they'd change the policy, not let me board and call the police with a missing person's report

He hasn't started the job yet. He starts the week before our final payment is due. They might be cool with him borrowing vacation time. They might be uptight and fire him for asking. Or, they might be cool but he doesn't want to risk them firing him for asking so he probably won't ask.

On top of everything else, we looked at a family cruise last December, it was tiny bit more than we wanted to pay (and my mom was very sick), we looked again but had some unexpected expenses...this is the 3rd time to have my hopes dashed, but only my first time to actually book and lose money.

I'm not here for advice, or a "you should have had insurance" lecture, but I do need to whine a little.

My husband is wonderful but he doesn't understand that I can be happy about his new job and sad about the canceled cruise at the same time.

    Is it past final payment?

  4. This genius thought this would be a good activity as his boat pulled out of port. I saw him doing this and had to run back inside to grab my camera. I'm glad he was sailing Norwegian Getaway and not on the Breeze.

I can just imagine the pointing and shouting from the boat along side him. They had to be close because you can see the reflection in the windows.

  5. I want to know what you would advise. We are booked with an early saver fare for February 9, 2015. In our cabin was supposed to be myself, my daughter and her boyfriend. We have paid the deposit obviously, and from what I understand that is non refundable and we cannot change the name and take another passenger. My daughter and her boyfriend just broke up. My thinking is it would be better to go ahead and pay the rest of his fare along with ours, and have him just be a no-show vs. calling and canceling him now. Any thoughts?

Have you tried to find out what the penalty would be to change? or do you even have another person who would be able to go?

  6. I booked our March 1, 2015 because I'm addicted and my daughter is graduating next year.

I booked our May 23, 2014 because I wanted to take the edge off from the addiction and March 1, 2015 is too far away.

but I'm hoping this will curb my appetite a bit or it could cause problems at work.

Cruising is my drug of choice.

  7. I'm surprising my daughters next week with a cruise. They think we are going 2 hours away for an overnight stay at an amusement park. They are cruisaholics (10 & 13 year old) We aren't telling them until we are hours into the drive and they start wondering. Plus John Heald promised my older daughter a surprise in the room because of her obsession with Carnival. She picks 1 ship at night before bed to read about and quiz herself on. Crazy girl but its funny she knows things I have no clue about.

  8. Heaven.

From now on, I will ONLY sail on those ships with Alchemy Bar!

(not really, but would be if 100% my choice)

Seriously though, my next goal... Cheers! plan + Alchemy Bar = a perfect cruise experience. :D

    I'll Second that!!

  9. I'd heard such great reviews about him on this forum. Shame! How do you find out who the director is? I'd like to read up about them from other reviewers. Also, I signed up for the roll call, and there's only 4 people on it! Is there a better way to see who you'll be cruising with?:)

Which sailing date? I looked for a Roll Call for our sailing but didn't find one. :(

  10. You need to find out from Carnival directly. It will usually advise with the handicap symbol if it is wheelchair accessible or not (my guess is that it is not.) I just got back and don't remember seeing any of the tours being accessible for Nassau. I didn't ask them because we rolled from the ship to Atlantis. For the most part it had curb cuts but on a few occasions I had to go down a curb. THe bridge was the most dificult part as it is steep to allow for boats to go under it but we managed it with my husband pushing me up it. All the shops are right at the port so you can simply roll around the main area if you didn't want to bother with Atlantis. Most of the taxis are vans and you likely will find one that can fit your chair in the back (provided you can get into the seat - a couple steps in.)

You rolled to Atlantis? Might I inquire the directions you took...
