One of the differences between p&o and Thomson is more port days and longer in port. You are given the info on arrival time so it's easier to sort out private trips etc

We've done a few cruises with P&O in the Caribbean, Meditteranean, Norway and Canary's, but are thining of doing one of Thomson's Caribbean cruises next January. Although certain statements are made on thThomsons website I just wanted to get an idea of some of the differences. I have a few short questions and would be interested in some views/answers.
1. It states some drinks are all inclusive, I like a Scotch and my Wife likes a G&T. Would these be included? Also do they allow you take a bottle of Gin & Scotch on board?
2. Do you get room service, nothing flash, just maybe a pot of tea and fruit/cereal?
3. On P&O I use WiFi on my Netbook, two weeks cost £130 last winter, what does Thomson offer?
4. Do they have Black Tie nights and does this mean tucks etc?
5. Are your cases taken straight to the cabins, so the last time you see them was check in at the airport?
6. How does the entertainment compare with P&O?
The main reason for looking at Thomson Cruises is they seem to have some new locations they go to, which is what we like.
Many thanks
Keith (Southend):)
1. yes and yes
2. Don't think so, but kettles in cabin
3. Sorry don't know
4. Depends on which ship, discovery 1&2 do dress to impress others do formal night. You can wear want you want, some in tux, some in jeans and everything in between 1 per week
5. Yes in the Caribbean
6. Better entertainment team who do 6 shows a week then only have 1 night where entertainment is brought in

B2B is common but normally only 2 weeks. Go online to the Thomson cruise site and put in length if cruise and it should come up

I am planning on doing a private tour of the Vatican in September, but need to be there for 9 am. Therefore would need to catch either the 7.30 or 7.44 train from Civitavecchia. Can anyone that is on Discovery this week lat me know what time is the earliest you can get off? If the train doesn't work it will have to be a taxi.

I changed mine earlier today. Go to the Thomson site, top right is an option to log into your account. You might have to use your orange account to begin with, then you can go into your booking and change it.

The only issue I could see is about the dining. If you all book freedom then it's fine but if you book club you may end up on different tables

We did the hoho bus, what a nightmare, we drove along seafront and a high wave caught us, we were upstairs on an open top and we got soaked. Then we were dodging branches from trees health and safety nightmare. Couldn't wait to get back to the ship as we were frozen. Day after we did a private tour with Havana journeys in a classic car. That I can highly recommend

Thinking of a Thomson Cruise for a change...
in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)
Posted
Go onto the website, on main cruise page about 1/3 way down on left hand side there is icon for shore excursions, put in booking ref, date etc there will be a list there. They might not be available to book yet but gives you a good idea.
