  1. I will be in Roatan in December on the Getaway. Will have my Son 48 and Grandson 22 with me. I have been to Roatan before but have not visited West Bay. Have researched all of the day passes and excursion deals but can't settle on just one.

Is it possible to visit all along the beach area and partake of each resorts amenities, ala, a Beach Tiki Bar Pub Crawl. Will our presence be welcomed at the various venues or frowned upon. Anyone have experience doing this? Thank you for your response? Any help will be appreciated.

  2. That's just too simple... :)

I was on the Sun last year and found the water undrinkable in my cabin most of the time (had a brown tint to it). I would refill only in the buffet area as the water stations are filtered there. Water fountains in public areas are also filtered. I believe the Sun is the oldest NCL ship and could use much plumbing work. That having been said, I had a great time on the Sun and am sure you will also. Enjoy!!!

  3. Southern Caribbean out of San Juan. You would experiences would be more diverse culturally, as well as geologically. French, Dutch, Spanish, English and Caribe cultures. Get a balcony cabin so you can enjoy your early morning entrances into some beautiful islands.

  4. I also live in Maryland and am considering a Breakaway cruise out of Manhattan in March. Just starting my research as I have not sailed from New York in the past. My first inclination is to take Amtrak from BWI to Penn Station, NY. One way cost is $49. Penn Station is 2 1/2 miles from the dock, about a 14 minute taxi ride according to mapquest. I also read some time ago that one of the cruise lines [can't remember which one] arranges for a Greyhound Bus to the dock from downtown Baltimore. Anyone have any info on this possibility?

  5. If you look at a map of Baltimore City, the port is downtown just off of I95 as you enter the north bound entrance to the Harbor Tunnel. I believe the exit signs on I95 say "port of Baltimore. There is nothing within close walking distance but just a short taxi or uber ride to the Inner Harbor.

  6. Just plan as though you are going to the ocean for a week. Casual dining, casual dress. Yes you can take drinks and food from the buffet to your room. Your cabin steward will configure your room so it is best for your family. It will be tight but you'll only be sleeping there. No worry. You will have a great time and your family will never forget it. Remember, take lots of pictures.

  7. Pack n Play offers specifically state that they are not transferable and that the original recipient must sail. Understand that your mother received this deal because of her gambling activity on previous cruises. Without her presence, CAS has no reason to comp you. Sorry.

  8. Firstly, you will take a speed boat over to the mainland and then. Used to Tulum. The last time I was in Tulum there was plenty of shopping right at the ruins. When you return to the Carnival pier in Cozumel the pier is. Dry commercialized. A wide variety of stores right there.

  9. If you spend anytime in the casinos, make sure you show your sign and sales card at the tables and insert it in the machines when you play. The casino is allotted a considerable number of cabins on every cruise for partial or total comps. You might get on their mailing list even though you are not a loser. I sail 2-3 times a year solo for practically nothing.

  10. I was just on an NCL Escape cruise to Tortola. Booked the Rebel Yell Catamaran to Jost Van Dyke. If I were you I would take a boat trip to White Bay on JVD. Beautiful beach with multiple quaint beach bars. Try Soggy Dollar Bar. Free beach chairs and home of the drink, Painkiller. Had a wonderful day in the sun watching the birds, including Pelicans, dive bombing for fish right next to you while you swim.

  11. NEver mind more garbage from carnival. Out of Florida I do not even see a single $200 per room offer. Most 3 and 4 day cruises are $200-$250 each person and are limited at that. Apparently Carnival has no interest in their casino players anymore.

I think you have mis-read the offer. Run a mock booking on their website for one of them and you will find that the $200-$250 is per cabin with the $100 OBC. I just booked Carnival Victory out of Miami for 4 days on May 15. I travel solo and my cost was $200 plus $101 for taxes and port fees. My documents show a $100 OBC. This is a great deal for a solo traveler.

  12. Check your special offers on Carnival's website. Pack N Play is back. Must book by end of March for sailings through August. As low as $200 per cabin with a $100 OBC. The only drawback is that the offer is for 5 day sailings or less. You can, however, string a few for back-to-back longer vacations. I am booked and ready to sail. Just what I needed!!!!

  13. Be patient, good things may still happen for you. The same thing happened to me on a cruise in August 2015. The last night of our family's cruise I received a Bounce Back offer in my mailbox outside my door. So when I arrived at home, I called my Players Club rep at Carnival and asked that he send me an email with all of the cruises that I might select from. I picked out a 5 Day Bermuda Cruise for the end of October. When I called to make the reservation, he checked it out and told me that this cruise was no longer available. He explained that the Players Club was allotted a specific number of cabins for each of the cruises listed and that no cabins were available for this date. I tried several other cruise dates and they also had no cabins available. I was ticked. Had been offered a free cruise but nothing was available of interest. I was not happy with Carnival for getting my hopes up for this quick getaway and then letting me down.

Well, several weeks later, I got a Pack n Play mailer from the Players Club. With this one I was to pay $150 dollars for a cabin and then receive an OBC for $100. Again I called my personal planner at Carnival and had him email me a list of cruises. Low and behold, that same 5 day cruise to Bermuda was on the list for the end of October and I was able to book it. Also, I was told that I was not limited to picking just one cruise, so I also booked a 10 Day Journeys cruise to the Southern Caribbean for the same price at the end of January.

So be patient. You obviously created enough activity in the Casino on your last cruise to get the attention of the Players Club. My guess is that sometime this Summer you will get the Pack n Play offers for the Fall and Winter. I love the Pack n Play offers and look forward to receiving them again this year. I sail solo and pay only $50 net plus taxes and port fees for the entire cabin.

Just got off the Glory a week ago and on the last night a received a certificate for a free inside room for select sailings. I called Carnival today and tried to use it. I am not picky about my ship or where it sails out of. I am very flexible and cruise just to go and get away.

Boy, was I surprised when the representative said none of my sailing where available in Sept 2017 out of Florida or New Orleans. So I asked her to find me anything from September thu December and she said nothing was available.

In other words the certificate is basically useless. Funny thing is that I cruise the most in September thru November because school is back and most people do not want to cruise during hurricane season. I can always get a last minute unreal deal during this time frame.

So if you get one of these certificates, don't get too excited. Mine was worthless.

  14. I have been on Pride five times and, while I haven't been on BA, I have sailed the Epic and Escape a total of four times. The NCL larger ships have Great Entertainment venues and acts/broadway and Las Vegas style shows. Carnival has nothing even close to this if entertainment is important to you. Having said that, The Pride is a great ship about half the size of BA. I live near Baltimore and this is so convenient for me I will continue to sail the Pride at least once a year. I don't enjoy the added travel time and expense of sailing out of Florida, but the itineraries and added entertainment on the larger NCL ships compensates for those drawbacks. I usually get offers from CAS and the Players Club each year, so I sail solo with very low cost complimentary cabins on both Carnival and NCL each year. It is great though to avoid the added expense and travel time by sailing out of Baltimore.

I've been on the BA to bermuda and bahamas

now looking at ports other than NY that are within my driving distance and i see royal and carnival out of baltimore

I'm looking to travel this coming sept-december. ideal scenario is bermuda but that is of course a lot more $ no matter what line you are on. and i do see royal has short trips but unsure id be happy with shorter trip.

so can you compare the BA balconies with the Pride's balconies? yes i am one to spend time in my room or else i'd get an inside.

is there any comparison with the ocean/junior suites on pride vs haven on BA? from my brief research, it's just priority embark/reservations etc. not an entire separate area which would explain the more reasonable prices for suites.

another comparison if possible, would be an ocean or JR suite on pride vs balcony on BA

any and all comparisons would be appreciated. the things on BA i dont not use (ie dont need on pride) are : rock wall. ropes course. not a nightclub person. i am curious the hot tub situation on pride as i enjoyed those late nites on BA. Also which ship do you think has more indoor stuff for bad weather or cold weather days?

    thank you

  15. I understand about the premier cruises. It was very easy and no problem.

I'm having problems getting info on the available cruises for our bounceback. It's a free interior cabin, but we pay the taxes/port fees. We would most likely upgrade our cabin to a balcony.

As it stands now we're being told that we have to look for a cruise that we're interested in, and then call to see if that cruise is on the list of available bouncebacks.

We already have a cruise booked in a suite. We're considering cancelling it to schedule the bounceback. The casino rep said we can only use a bounceback on a new booking.

Our PVP said our current booking date on the Miracle isn't available for using the bounceback and there's nothing available at all for the Miracle. I've called two other times to check a couple itineraries, but so far neither available. Just seems crazy, difficult and time consuming.

Shouldn't we be able to at least call and get a list of the cruises that we can choose from?

Our PVP said no, we have to call as described above. We're frustrated and we now have less than 2 weeks to book the bounceback or lose it.

Does what were being told sound correct?

Any input would be much appreciated!

My PVP always emails me a spreadsheet with list of all available sailing dates for each debarkation port and ship.

  16. Does anyone know if NCL Casino at Seas program offer "free cabin" deals on a scheduled basis or just after cruising? I had received a few in the beginning of the year and am cruising on one in August. I am new to NCL - usually cruise on Carnival on Bounce Back offers and I just got one but the only NCL cruise I did I found the comps were better or at least easier to understand.

I guess what I am asking is for any information regarding the Casino at Seas and how often they extend offers, ect. I realize it is based on play but I seemed to get offers in Jan and then April but nothing since then. I am not complaining just curious.

I just received a complimentary cabin offer in the mail from Casinos at Sea last week. When I called to book the Getaway for November, I found that the complimentary cabin was really not free. In addition to the Port Charges and Taxes of about $150(which I expected to pay) they added a PROCESSING fee of $200 plus another fee of 20 something. I have sailed three other times with NCL in a complimentary cabin through CAS and never paid those additional fees. It seems that NCL is being not so honest in how they present these offers ever since they started all of these pick up to five free offer deals. This really rubbed me the wrong way, I felt like my intelligence had been insulted.

Around the same time, I received a Pack n Play offer from Carnival. They tell you exactly what your offer is without any hidden fees. I booked a cabin (I sail solo) for $200 plus Port charges and taxes and I will receive $100 back in OBC. This is the fifth time I have gone with Carnival in the past two years.

I do enjoy NCLs ships but Carnival has become my go to Line.
