  1. We also are affected by the Breeze move and were switched to the Splendor. Also the room was not like our corner window room on Breeze but a regular oceanview on riviera. Price was eventually repriced $100 less pp. But never got the $50 pp OBC?

So after 2 calls I was able to get back my corner room on Magic on a similar 8 day for the same price as Splendor price. And got my $100 OBC for 2pp! Feel better now.

  2. Had this happen 2 weeks before cruise in 2011. Woke on a Monday with whole side of face swollen. Called my sis in law who works at dentist and they prescribed antibiotics but when I went in on Thursday thinking they would pull it still wasn't down enough. Sliced my mouth and squeezed (Yuck, I know). Had tooth pulled the next Thursday before flying out Saturday and cruising Sunday. It was a rough two weeks but it worked. Good luck! You're on my cruise. If you're on antibiotics during cruise, be careful in sun. It can do a number on you. Like heat rash.

  3. I asked John Heald awhile back when we were booked on Valor out of SJ for Sept.(has since been changed to Liberty) . He said no plans till maybe mid spring 2016. So, if you see a gap in bookings during that time period while shopping, that might be it.

  4. Enjoyed your review and pics! Have a few questions.

    Did you see any dolphins?

Did you participate in any sailaway or deck parties? No pics so was wondering.

Do you guys not like beach days? You said you did not like your buggy excursion so was going to say, there are some nice beach day excursions there. Nachi-cocom. Was good and parasailing is awesome!

You covered a lot inyour review but you also seemed to miss a lot of things I would love to see such as the crowds on lido and pool area. How was the music on lido? Sunsets and sunrises? Atrium pics?

Did you not join the huge CC roll call or join any of the activities that were planned for this group?

Thanks for the review. Glad you got back home finally!

  5. Enjoying your review! Awesome photos. One quick correction regarding the Conquest class ships. I love this class also for the same reasons you mentioned. However, I don't think Valor has had the 2.0 upgrades. It was scheduled but was continually postponed and they are now saying mid2016. I was scheduled for Valor out of San Juan in September but they switched ships and we got upgraded to Liberty. Yeah. Love those Guy's Burger's.

  6. Splurge- Cheers package. (Don't bring wine because we don't like wine. Saving a few bucks on water or sodas not worth the hassle. Bon Voyage in room also a hassle. Like the choices and availability for Cheers)

Excursions booked outside of Carnival. Usually all inclusive beach days or one time experiences like ziplining, cavetubing etc. Maybe one or two in a week cruise.

    $20 day for casino slots.

extra tips for steward and MDR staff.

Scrimp- No FTTF. (Get there later. Don't have to be first!)

No steakhouse (we've tried it. Hubby is now allergic to meat so kinda pointless)

    No bingo

    Not much shopping

No eating off ship (unless all inclusive)

    Cheap hotel night before

Cheap flights paid down with Delta rewards

    Early saver room- usually OV

    No spa

    No specialty coffees

    No art auction

    Maybe one photo

That about covers it for us. We definitely get what we want out of it!

  7. 1. Live bands

    2. Lays potato chips at deli

    3. Hard tacos and nacho chips at blue iquana to go with all those salsas, also queso.

    4. Use the aft port lounge which is smoking usually and have a musician / guitarists or party music band for smokers -middle age dance club?

    5. Sweet southern tea would be nice, too!

  8. Ya All must be trying on your skinny jeans and sweaters for fall .... [emoji6][emoji5]️

    Because this sure is quiet!

HaHa! Not trying on those skinny jeans just yet!

I have, I think started getting my groove back, though! Took some time to force myself off the carbs but now I'm past the worst of it and have lost around 5 of the 25 I need to get back where I was. Gradually working back up on my Insanity workouts a few times a week, also. It's going pretty good but I am having trouble turning this hyper ketone brain off and sleeping along with feeling a little overheated. Hoping this is a good sign that my metabolism is cranking up? Taking Vitamin D, Magnesium and melatonin at night . Supposedly, this should calm down in a while.

New study out by NIH showing that the low carb group versus low fat group had better heart health risk numbers, less inflammation markers, and more weight loss/ no muscle loss after a year on low carb. Great news! Gives me more confidence that I'm doing right by my body!

My next cruise isn't till Sept 2015, but I am trying to change my mindset and realize that I need to STAY low carb for life for my health! Ain't getting any younger. On a side note, my left side under my ribs was giving me some pain especially after eating and has not bothered me since a few days after sticking to LC. Thinking maybe my pancreas? I have 2 siblings that have had pancreatitis and my sister's is chronic. Also another sibling who we have little contact with is in bad shape from food, past alcohol and drug abuse, and is now diabetic.

Hoping this WOE keeps the doctor at bay for me!

  9. Rats! I was hoping to take advantage of the lower prices on our cruise sept2015! Have done cheers twice at higher price on 7 day cruise and barely made it to break even a few days.

There is one advantage to the new/ higher set price of 49.95. The shorter cruises initially did not offer cheers and when they lowered/staggered the price, the shorter cruises had a higher price per day. Now, their price on shorter cruises will be actually lower in some cases and at least it's still going to be offered on all ships? Right? So, what I'm saying is that all cruises will now have it when they did not originally. Might help some people going on short cruises and maybe that's where Carnival should have offered from the start being those are considered the "party" cruises!

As a lot have already mentioned, I got tired of trying to make the break even point after a few days!

  10. hmmmm well i read we shouldn't go over about 30g (or lil higher) of protein per meal or every 3-4 hours, but I had never heard about the protein to glucose thing  But after some googling(lol) I found this term gluconeogenesis grrrr now you have added to my stress and raised my cortisol levels 21 days from my cruise ugggg lol. Thanks for the info, did you find out about this evil conversion in this book "Ketoclarity by Jimmy Moore" ???

I already knew about it from other books. This book just put it all together with his own body experiment. And has a lot of other experts chiming in with tips.

I'm thinking 25-30g of protein per meal is about right as long as you can get in ketosis. Helped me understand what I could tweak to make it work, maybe. We'll see. Don't stress over it. Reading and studying this stuff is the way I try to reaffirm what I already know with my keto brain but my carb brain keeps arguing for the wrong ways and instilling doubts. I have issues.LOL

  11. Hi everyone! OMG, I could not make it stick after my cruise. Tried and tried and ended up eating candy or some other garbage after two days. This is the way it is with me- I can only go low carb once or twice a year, max. So I tried Paleo-ing again and all of the bad habits I picked up on the cruise would come back. Always. Cruising. Kills me.

So I went on the Dukan Diet, which is basically Atkins but I got a shiny new book :) to give me strength. Five days, protein only. For some reason it was easier, probably because of the book and reading the million success stories and resources on line. Now I'm alternating pure protein and protein and veggie days. Honestly it's Atkins. You also get yogurt.

We shall see. Afraid to step on the scale- I hate the scale.

I haven't posted in quite a while but your post hits home with me. I lost 22 lbs thruout last year (2013) and between a 7 day Sept 2013 and a 5 day Oct/Nov 2013 and a 7 day in may 2014 plus holidays I wound up gaining it all back! Kept trying to lose but kept falling off the wagon after 2 or 3 days. My carb addiction got the best of me and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working as well. Sooooo- read a new book- Ketoclarity by Jimmy Moore! Got me inspired again and am showing great ketones after 4 or 5 days! Have lost 3 or 4 lbs. Here's. What I learned. Gotta stay in ketosis. Yeah its hard to get past that first 2 or 3 days but then it's easy. Low, low carbs. No grains. Lots of fat and I mean lots! And moderate protein. Overdoing on protein just makes your body turn it into glucose which hinders ketosis /weight loss. Basically I'm eating egg salad and sausage for breakfast, tuna salad and tomato for lunch, and some meat and vegetables for dinner. No peanuts or peanut butter cause that is my weakness and I'm trying to see if that helps. Not starving myself at all and trying to eat enough calories to keep metabolism up. Basically eating to satiety twice to three times a day. Will let you guys know how it goes but I think this book has some great advice and results from new studies that show just how much ketosis helps your body in lots of ways! Keep telling myself "my brain is fueled by ketones-and it likes it". Good luck!

P.S.-that thing you keep saying about not being able to do low carb but once or twice per year is training yourself to fail. Once you get past the 2 or 3 day mark, you will be fine. Maybe you should not keep telling yourself that and come up with something else like- that's. Just my brain trying to get fed. It will get fed best with ketones.I will perform better with ketones. Etc.

  12. I agree. This looks fine, although I'd want to see how it is tied off. The ironwork that frames in the balconies is extremely heavy-duty, so as long as it isn't tied off on a hinge or something, I can't see how it would be a problem. Plus the bottom looks to be about a foot off the ground, even with no one in it, so safety is not an issue. I agree with the subsequent post that you'd probably need to take it down in port.

These type of hammocks are super easy to put up or take down. Won't be a problem as long as attachment point is strong. Straps on these are safe.

  13. Yeah, now I want to try it too. Already found a hammock on Amazon. LOL

Looks like there should be an easy/safe way to do it.

Get an ENO double. And don't forget to order the straps. I think they come separate. Might have paid around 60 or 70$ few years back. They have not let me down!

  14. Sorry to go off topic but I can't figure out how to send a private message. Was 7439 bookable online? If so then it is not available for our sailing. Or maybe not available for 3 guests?

They only show 10 rooms at a time so it could be available if you call. I booked more than a year in advance so thought they might be available. When are you going and what ship? Might not work with 3 guests.

  15. Fortunately, my husband and I converted to e-cigs in Jan 2014! We went on Conquest in May and had OV room where we were basically given the OK by our room steward to vape in room, which we did with no problems. We otherwise followed rules and contained our vaping to smoking areas. Casino bar was so overcrowded with smokers two and three deep while non-smoking bar area was empty! Also was like this on Paradise in October.

My take on this is that the smoking areas are overfull even though less people smoke nowadays. Maybe a greater percentage of smoking population chooses cruising because they can still smoke? This may change things for them and affect Carnival's bottom line differently than expected. What about all those cartons of cigarettes they are selling?

Anyway, vaping should be allowed on balconies and in room. Kinda knew this was coming down the pipe soon and am glad I quit smoking/switched as I am able to do in Airports and such without having to go outside and back thru security or to the nastiest glass smoking cage ever at the Atlanta airport!

Have a balcony room booked on Valor Sept 2015! If we were still smoking, I would be upset.
