  1. I totally agree with this. For us cruising is less about the food, the entertainment and socializing than it is about relaxation. When we do land-based vacations they are invariably busy, involve extended family and sight-seeing because we are interested in things.

This is our 5th X cruise coming up. I hope we will do more.

I agree with you. My sister and I cruise together to just get away and relax. I see you are sailing Equinox just before us. We sailed on her inaugural transatlantic, she's a favorite. Wishing you calm seas and blue skies.

  2. Starfish Island was a lot of fun!! It was just a small little island, maybe a 15 minute boat ride from our ship? There were a LOT of starfish in the grasses around one area of the island, near a playground and a dock you could walk out to see more fish and starfish. There were kayaks to rent - we did and paddled around mangrove trees with cool looking birds in them. The beach itself was beautiful! I was very thankful, though, that our kids had their water shoes on as there was probably a 4-5 foot section of shells to walk through before getting to the sandy bottom of the ocean. We didn't have our water shoes so we walked slowly out with just minor pain ;) but I'd wear them next time. :) My kids absolutely LOVED collecting all the shells, and we brought back enough for each of their classmates. They did include lunch (it was rice & beans, chicken, & potato salad) and I think they had a bar (with an Elvis impersonator for part of our stay, ha!). Restrooms were fine, and there was a small gift shop.

    I hope that helps :)

Thanks for info on this excursion. Celebrity has no info on its site just a name and amount. Was the water clear?

  3. Congrads Ashley & Tyler! You will be celebrating your first wedding anniversary soon if not already. Loved your wedding pics and I too love Andrea Bocelli and actually teared up watching your wedding dance video, nicely done. Been married 45 years to my Bill, and one tidbit I would pass on to you and Tyler is remember to tell each other "I love you", as many times during the day as you can. I will be sailing Equinox for the 4th time with my sister in February. Looking forward to the rest of your review.

  4. We usually fly in the day before the cruise. Sleep in a bit (I usually wake up early I'm so excited), checkout of the hotel and leave our bags with the concierge, go have a leisurely breakfast at some little sidewalk café, stroll a bit, people watch, and then go and get a taxi and our bags and off to the terminal. We usually arrive around 12:30p and are on in 30 mins. We like to lunch at Bistro on 5 and wait for a while after they announce cabins are ready, avoids the elevator crush. Perhaps we'll stroll a little longer and enjoy that there is no snow on the ground and the sun is shining (hopefully) and I don't have to wear my ear muffs. That should put us closer to our appointed boarding time. Chill out, we're going on a cruise!!!:D

  5. Thanks Diane...as we head into another brutal winter, I look forward to this cruise in February more & more. Are you in an area that already got hit with snow yesterday? Our temperature here in Chicago has dropped almost 20 degrees since I left for work this morning. Can't believe I have never cruised in the winter before!

Enjoy your trip...maybe I'll see you at the doc on 2/13

Only snow flurries so far, but temp took a big dip overnight from 55 F to 34 F this morning. Winter is definitely arriving.

My sister and I usually try to cruise in February. This is the fourth time we have cruised on Equinox. We were on her first transatlantic home to Ft Lauderdale in '09, so she has a special place in our hearts.

  6. Another vote for Nachi! It was one of the highlights of our cruise. Take care of your personal waiter (tips) and he will make sure you never get hungry or thirsty. If you want to rent any sailboats, snorkels, etc....always ask your waiter and he will make it happen.

About 30 minutes before you are ready to leave....tell your waiter and he will summon a taxi....and come and get you when it arrives.

Thanks for the taxi info. Just booked Nachi for February cruise.

  7. Also, the price quoted for the service was $10 less than what the brochure stated....the brochure was emailed to me from Celebrity

    Thank you for the link.

They mention the aqua tx pass, does anyone know what this consists of on the Solstice class ships?
