We loved the Majesty . Your best booking a " plus" cabin as the standard cabins on Majesty are a bit snug but still fine if you just want a base to change etc.
We had a plus cabin on deck 7 , prom deck , which was fantastic.
Shows were all very good, show lounge is smaller than on the Dream but it's fine.
Food was great , we used MDR The Four Seasons for breakfast and evening meal every day and we thought food and service was excellent.
All the bars were good, we liked the Polo lounge best but we used them all and there's lots going on day and night or quiet spots if you prefer that.
There are two Self service restaurants up near the pools, one you can take your food down to the lounge below which we often did at lunch, the other at the back of the ship is open but great in good weather.
The pools are great but the pool deck can get busy at peak times like all ships. On majesty there are no loungers near the pools but they are just above, there are tables and chairs near the pools which we liked better and more loungers on the prom deck and several other spots.
All in all we thought it was a great little ship and we would def book on her again :-)

Thanks, we've been on a few where the pools were so deep even very tall people couldn't touch the bottom anywhere, always seem so dangerous especially when children are aboard .
That's cheered me up about Arcadia , thanks will be able to relax and have a swim
-
Can anyone tell me if either pool on Arcadia has a shallow end?
I like to swim but not very confident so like to be able to touch the bottom.
We had originally booked on Aurora as it has shallow pools but since amended to Arcadia, on P&O's info page it says both of Arcadia's pools are 1.9 mts deep but on a couple of photos I've seen of the neptune pool it looks like people are standing in it at one end.
On another photo where it looks half full there appears to be a wide ledge about a metre wide all round with the pool deeper in the middle but may have been an optical illusion .
Can't seem to find anyone who knows this as most don't seem to use the pools.

Thanks that's great, we have booked E 97 which is exactly opposite yours so really happy if it will have a bath. E98 and E 97 have the clearest view when you look on p&o site info where it shows you each obstructed cabin on E deck and the exact view from each window. Must be ok if you have booked one again! Thanks :-)

Good review Geo, we really liked the Maj but I agree the self service areas are not the best. Also the main show lounge needs clearing between shows as we had to miss a couple as just no room as some people sit through the same show twice.
On the whole though we loved the ship, the crew as you say are very helpful, ship seems more modern, we had a huge cabin on prom deck (a plus) which we liked very much, loved the food in MDR always used 4seasons as made very welcome and is smaller, used it everyday for breakfast too. Liked the pools as I could stand up in them find the ones on celebration/spirit far too deep so don't use them and I love a swim.
We are deserting to p&o next year but will miss the Thomson atmosphere hope the majesty stays in the fleet for 2015 as would happily book on her again.

Great review , enjoyed reading it, we loved the Majesty

It would seem that Thomson are finally updating its website. Just done a search on the 'Holidays' part of the site, and once you get to the holiday options, a new website appears!!! Hopefully the full site will be updated soon. Showing progress at least anyway.
Sounds good, hope cruises are updated soon too will keep looking

Did I mention that I look at the P and O website to determine what is the dress code for each night in advance then I plan my wardrobe in my head so I know what I am wearing each night
Then I pack the rest if my wardrobe just incase, and end up wearing nothing I planned to :D
Seriously though I only recently discovered the wealth of information on the P and O site, it really is worth checking out the questions section
I looked at the dress code info on p&o 's site yesterday as someone kindly pointed me in the right direction , I'd added a post asking about dress codes as although this will be our 5th cruise it's first with p&o , didn't realise it showed each cruise and details of every night and what to wear , very handy.
Only had one reply to my post though , was very helpful but was hoping some fellow females would reply with a bit of dress info ;-)
I added a post about cabins too but not many replies (again one i think :-( )

Just thought I would bump this up again as I think this is a great thread and a lot of work gone into it. It's a pity it still has not had the recognition it deserves. Go on Cruise Crutic give it a sticky status.
Here here !!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks Dreamgirl - just dreaming myself really; don't think we could stretch to 2 cruises this year lol. Did suggest to the kids that me & my husband went on this on our own for a week but it didn't go down too well;)
Shame, I like the sound of the itinerary!!!!
Yes does sound really nice. My friend found it just as they were about to book another one and couldnt resist it. :)
-
Hope you don't mind me asking what dates is it dong this itinerary please? I have just looked online & couldn't find it at all - sounds nice!
Hi Jules, my friends are doing it 8th Nov with a stay the week before but it also goes 22nd
-
If it's the same one my friend is doing and def sounds like it it's Nov on spirit but there are two or three with sim names .

Hi, there is a team called Thomson cares, have you contacted them ?
They may be able to help, please dont give up if you get a negative response, keep writing in, they have recently sorted out a problem for me and were really helpful.
(I did have to persist and it took three emails as the first two just had an "im sorry...." reply but i emailed a third time and stressed how upset i was, they phoned and couldnt have been more helpful.)
I think with being such a huge company they get lots of complaints and they have to be strict but keep going and im sure they will help.

Nothing so much wrong with her Vicki than the others, apart from the the informal bit. She was the largest ship of the Thomson fleet until Dream came along in 2010. She just needs a bloody good upgrade. Please excuse the language. We have had 2 good cruises on her.
Berwyn
Haha I don't mind the language being as its you Berwyn ;);)

hi Vicki and all, coming in a bit late on this. But if you've done several cruises do not bother with Island Escape. She is fine as a starter ship for 1st time cruisers. And Ross Roberts the C. D. is great. But unless you are into totally informal cruising I would not go on her. We were on her for our 1st and 3rd cruise and the boys loved her. But we have outgrown her and moved on.
Berwyn
Thanks Berwyn, was wondering why it was such a bargain, some dates you can get two weeks on IE for same as one week cruise and one week stay on the Dream.
Never mind I never get a bargain lol :rolleyes:
