  1. 1. People with Noro, from what I've read, would rather be in bed, close to a private bathroom. They're not eager to get on the FlowRider or whatever.

    2. If people have noro, would you want them to be walking ahead of you? Holding the handrail and pushing elevator buttons just before you do?

    3. RCCL cannot win in these situations. There will always be something to complain about no matter how they respond.

  2. I have a digestive disorder and have had similar thoughts. After several cruises, I've found that one of the best things we've done is to cruise with another couple. When there's four of us there are many more options available to us. Often times it's a "guys go this way, girls go that way" kind of day. Sometimes it's "I feel awful, you three go on without me" kind of day. In any case, there's plenty for everyone to do without anyone feeling left out or neglected.

    Have a great cruise!

  3. Hi...to those of you that have gone on the excursion to Dunn's River Falls...I read that it is an hour bus ride to and from....but my question is..where do you leave your things (wallet, id, beach bag, etc.) when you are climbing the falls?

    Thanks!

They have lockers there for you to rent. Padlocked with a key you keep with you. The locals have a spare key so they can rifle through your stuff while you're climbing the falls. I'm kidding, of course, but that's what was going through my head at the time.

  4. So, what is it like in the Windjammer at dinner time? I've never done that, but it sounds like the only difference is the atmosphere? Is the format the same as breakfast and lunch? Serve yourself buffet style? Can you order cocktails from the table, or do you have to go over to the bar?

  5. Hello,

There are some pics and comments in a review I did after sailing on Liberty back in 2010...

You'll have to do some scrolling.

I was also there in January of this year, but I didn't do a review that time. Feel free to ask any questions, but I can tell you I don't have pics of the lunch menu or spa services. Our lunch there was one of the best meals we had all week.

We've been there three times and it has been a highlight of our vacation each time. You can't go wrong with Nachi.

  6. I read an interesting article the other day in a travel magazine that says some people's regular medical insurance covers medical emergencies while traveling. I have no idea if mine does--I always assumed it didn't. I'm going to look into it, as my main purpose for getting travel insurance is for medical reasons. I know the chances are so slim that something will happen, but I don't want to risk it!

While you're checking into that, you might want to confirm that your coverage includes emergency transportation. I imagine that helicopter ride costs more than a few dollars.

  7. ALL the cruise lines - and the airlines operate exactly in the same manner.

No matter where this had happened to you, the results would be the same.

Smart travelers get insurance. Did you?

I was about to ask what you were thinking when you left an ipod in an unlocked suitcase.

But it is obvious that you were NOT thinking.

You might consider this loss a "not paying attention tax".

I'd like to nominate BruceMuzz to be a Cruise Critic Ambassador.

He can officially welcome all new members with his charm and wit.

Jeez-o-Pete, it's no wonder people are hesitant to post around here.

  8. Well I hope you people are happy. I've spent a huge chunk of my day working through all 23 pages of this thread :-)

Many thanks to all of you for the valuable info.

I'm going on RCCL's Liberty in three weeks and cruising is the only time I ever get to play Craps, so I'm looking forward to "making my donation" via dice again. With your help, and with a little luck, maybe my donation will be minimized, and my time at the table will be maximized.

Special thanks to Yo Eleven for all the info and for the review of your Liberty cruise. I will drop my expectations for the casino WAY back, so as to avoid disappointment. For all of the info you've given with me, I'm ALMOST prepared to forgive you for being a wrong bettor :->

For the record, I'm a right bettor. Just a basic pass line + odds + place the 6 & 8 guy, with the occasional hard way if I feel I'm not losing fast enough.

I also enjoy toking the crew. It's just fun when they're in the game with you and it seems to elevate the mojo of the table and pep things up a bit. I used to make hard way bets for the crew, but after reading all of this and watching some youtube clips, I think I'll just stick to keeping the tokes on the pass line + odds along side my bet.

I read somewhere today that the dealers income is 50 to 80 percent tips. I hope that's just land based casinos and not cruise ships, because from my observations, there wasn't much tipping going on in the ships casino. Anyone have any info on that?

I live in NC and there are no table games anywhere around here. There's a video based casino on an indian reservation a couple hours away. I went there once. ONCE. It just wasn't fun. It takes real dice, real chips, and real dealers to make it fun, for me at least. The place was packed so obviously others do not agree.

OK I've rambled on long enough I suppose.

    Thanks again everyone!

  9. Why don't people go on cruises between say Savannah, Daytona, Wilmington, Williamsburg? jc

I'd love to go on such a cruise. If I understand correctly, the fees for such a cruise would be much higher for some reason. Cruise ships have to make a stop in a foreign port to avoid some sort of penalty, right? There are many coastal places in the US that I've never seen. I'll get to see Nassau in a few weeks, but honestly I'd rather see New Orleans.

    Just to remain on topic...

I can't understand why the OP hates all people from SJ :->

Obviously I'm kidding, I understood what you meant Suzie, and didn't read too much into it. If people keep getting hassled about their opinions, we'll get less and less honest information here.

    Best regards,

    Michael
