  1. I did a quick look at that report. It actually looks like there is some interesting information in there about Bermuda.

On the news stories, it only looks like they have secured contractors to work on the South Basin so far and not dredging the channel. It was determined it would be better to import the fill and not use the spoils from dredging the channels. So I guess now the 2 projects are completely separate of each other.

If they have been separated the spoils from the channel widening project would be dumped at sea beyond the 1000 fathom level which would mean there will be no delay to the channel dredging. Less expensive for both projects if the spoils can be used as fill in the South Basin.

  2. Keeping an eye on this as I know all of us here are :) I have no idea how long dredging of the north channel would take to accommodate Anthem.

The contract for the dredging will stipulate that the work must be done by a date certain to allow for the passage of the Anthem.

It appears that they have the contractors lined up. So there's that.

  3. Maybe they will keep the outdoor parking as well for the Summit, which is only there over the late spring, summer, and early fall.

I think they will have to keep it. They also have to provide parking for full sized vans and pickups which don't meet the height restrictions on most parking decks, When we sailed on the Summit in July there were cars parked in three different locations. Still within walking distance but pretty spread out.

  4. You forgot the quotes around the word pleasure :-).

So have they torn down the old terminal building, or is it just going in the open space between it and the new terminal? Didn't seem like there's enough space there if it's just the open space, although using the measurement tool in Google Maps, it seems to be a little under 200 by 300 feet, so a 55,000 square foot building, times some number of floors. so I guess that is big enough.

The new parking deck is to the left of the new terminal as you enter the building between the new building and the old building, nothing was torn down to make room for the parking deck. . It probably has enough parking for the Anthem but doesn't look big enough (to me) to handle parking for both Anthem and Summit. Looks like it will be complete around the end of September.

  5. Carol or any other Cape Liberty guru:

We'll be driving in from the west, specifically from northeast PA via I-80. I know this question has probably been answered, but I can't seem to find the answer.

Ye Olde Google Maps is suggesting the following route:

    1. I-80 East to I-287 South
    2. I-287 South to NJ Route 24 East
    3. NJ Route 24 East to I-78 East
    4. I-78 East to Exit 14A

From Exit 14A, we would follow your excellent directions.

Is this route correct, or do you suggest something else?

That is the route we take to get to the port. You'll be fine with those directions.

  6. Hi Phoenix1949,

Thanks for the info, how did you like the classes, were they good or just basic? RC customer service gave me pricing at $12/class which seemed a little low.

    Cheers,

    Aaron

We liked the classes. It's definitely not basic, accelerations, jumps, sprints, there's a weight bar for some upper body work. On the left side of the bike is a small display that shows your level of exertion and a big screen next to the instructor showing your level of exertion compared to the rest of the class. Sign up early the classes filled up quickly on our cruise.

There is also TRX suspension training and if you are going to labadee they had a boot camp on the beach that looked like a killer workout.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  7. I had a conversation with one of the restaurant managers about the difficulty we had in making reservations on line pre cruise yet it appeared that there were always empty tables. His response was that he holds back a certain number of tables so there are tables available to those who haven't or couldn't make reservations ahead of time. I suspect all the managers do the same. When we showed up for our reservation at American Icon we were informed that they had overbooked but the manager there made a few calls and set us up at Coastal Kitchen. An up grade in my opinion.

If you can't reserve on line you should be able to make your reservations on the ship or just show up at the restaurant of your choice and they should be able to accommodate you.
