  1. Same crap happened to me. I called immediately and was told I had to wait 24hrs. No way, how about a simple room change? No problem, got my old room back and requested no room upgrades. BTW if you can grab room R-747. Same balcony, better view. You will thank me when pulling out of Cabo!

  2. Jonathan, I had no idea you were doing a live from the Regal. It gives me another chance to thank you for organizing that wonderful balcony sail away and slot pull. We had a great time and are going to do it again some day. Also, thanks for the advice,(Carmel). Worked out great! Your pictures are torture. I can't get myself to look at mine yet. Too soon. Still in the FOG. You know, the was it a dream fog. Thanks!

  3. At the risk of being redundant*: It's Here! Just brought it in from the mailbox.

    * In another thread someone posted a very short comment. The entire text of the post was, "Thrak = redundant"

Just trying to be a buddy. You know Thrak, its like walking around all day with your fly open, everyone sees it, but nobody says anything. Then somebody finally has the nerve to say, "Hey Thrak, barn doors open". Your thankful, but left wondering, why the hell didn't somebody say something sooner. Just saying...

  4. I heard that there is root beer available for purchase by the can in the bars, is this true? The soda that I see as available leaves a lot to be deserved with only coke available and no dr pepper options. So I am hoping that what I was told about root beer being available is correct.

Also, does anyone have a coffee menu for the international cafe? Do they have any blended coffees?

    Thanks.

Barq's root beer in cans at all bars.

  5. Last year I booked a Canada & New England cruise on the Regal Princess. Just a regular BC category balcony. The fare was a whopping $1719.00 pp, but that included the coveted AIBP, so I figured that this itinerary was just more expensive than a similer Caribbean cruise. Well it sure pays to watch your fare! Under the current "Red,White+Blue sale,my fare has been reduced to a more palatable $1174.00 pp! but no AIBP! That's a $545.00 savings pp! Worst case scenario, repurchase the AIPB on board at $400.00 pp.and pocket $290.00! WOW!

  6. This just happened last month on the Regal for my mother. After 30 years of cruising, our next cruise we will become elite. My mother on the other hand, became elite on her third cruise. The year before she dropped 2 grand at the spa on the Regal. I thought it must have been a mistake but maybe they felt sorry she blew a ton of dough on acupuncture for a sprained ankle!

  7. What ever you do, do not use Yellow Cab. They are ripoffs. It normally takes 30 min.to go from Long Beach Airport to San Pedro. On our last cruise the cab driver headed out on 405 west and instead of going south on the 710 to the Seaside Fwy.which drops you right at the port, he drove all the way to the 110 south which doubled the miles. That cab ride cost us $70.00! Took UBER back after the cruise. $18.00!

  8. First cruise, honeymoon, 1987, Fairsea. They were giving away free drinks before sail away. I was able to take 2 drinks off the ship over the gangway to my sister and her boyfriend, this was in LA, and walk back on the ship. No security, no buffet, no TV's, streamers, skeet shooting, real formal dining. Hooked for life!

  9. I'm going to go reserve my specialty restaurants immediately, since I couldn't do it online in advance and I heard they get booked up super fast.

Same here. Before I even drop off my gear I hit the Crown Grill to make my reservation. In the past it has been booked full and I never have any luck with the dine line.

  10. We will be on the Ruby in July and will absolutely try it. Sounds way better than MDR fare, another $80 is not a huge deal when one looks at cost of cruise an airfare. We are from NYC, it is a bargain

You will not be disappointed. We tried it after the menu change and feel it was the best meal ever eaten on any cruise we have taken-

  11. Most comments on Share have been negative. On our last cruise on the Ruby, I had to try it for myself. Had to force wife to go after looking at the menu. (Why waste our money she cried!) Well guess what? It turned out to be probably the best meal we have ever had on any cruise we have been on. Table for 2 was no problem. The menu had just been changed and the server knew it inside and out. The food and its presentation were simply amazing! Flavors were mind blowing! The decor of the restaurant is fresh and modern. Don't let the $39 cover turn you off. It's worth every penny.

  12. Booked L-311 (other side of ship) last year on the Ruby. My biggest concern was heavy traffic from the elevators which was not a problem. My only complaint would be the heavy footed walkers from above. That got old fast. Other than that the room is in a great spot to grab a quick snack or drink! Never smelled smoke.

  13. pro76. Thanks! I've reserved the Stone Island Beach Break excursion through Princess. It includes lunch at Puesta del Sol restaurant. Is this just a burger and beer shack or a full menu restaurant? Ala Carte or buffet? Do beach vendors accept US dollars or just Mexican pesos?

Vendors in Mexcio love dollars and love to give change in pesos. The restaurant is just a small grill that served menu items like a carne asada plate that I thought I had to pay for. This was a long time ago, so things my have changed. It was very good and so was the ice cold cerveza's!

  14. I've done the Stone Island beach break, and its a great way to spend the day. You do board a water taxi right at the port for a short ride across the harbor where you board a tractor pulled trailer that takes you up the coast line a couple of miles. You arrive at a palm tree forest where they have a beach front site that have lounge chairs, first come first serve, grab one with shade! Also a small grill that serves Mexican food and burgers, not included. They have horseback riding, and horse buggy rides on the beach. The beach is nice and kid safe. Check it out!

  15. I call these two rooms the dream rooms. They are hard to book because they sell first. I have booked both rooms on the Regal. The bar is only 50 paces away, I've counted. The balcony projects out so if you place your lounge chair facing forward you get the feeling of flying on air. Never could hear MUTS or smell pizza nor hear noise from above @ retreat pool entrance. There is a service entrance across the hall, but no big deal. Also no noise from sliding doors from other side of wall. The balcony and the location make these rooms a must for me.
