  1. We sail on the Mariner at the end of the month and received the latest Regent protocols concerning covid. They are simple and after two sailings on the Splendor earlier this year, the new rules are wonderful for us vaccinated folks. Now Regent realized that money talks, so although they state you don't need testing prior to arrival, here is what they require:

Please note: Regent Seven Seas Cruises will only assist with compensation for trip interruption due to a positive COVID-19 test resulting in on-board quarantine, that is not covered by their travel insurance, if the guest provides proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test result from a registered test provider taken within 3 days of embarkation travel date. Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test result taken within 3 days of embarkation date must show guest name, guest date of birth, name of test provider, test provider’s contact details, test result and date the test was taken in order to be eligible.

  2. We have enjoyed 300+ days on the various Regent ships. We have also sailed on Cunard, Silverseas, Oceania, Azamara, HAL, Princess & Seabourn. We look at the itinerary first then see which is sailing to our chosen itinerary.  We have come to the conclusion that Regent is the best of the best with its all inclusive pricing, ship decor, itineraries & crew. Oh the crew are over the top the best.

This year we sailed on the Splendor in Jan. & for the crossing in April. We plan on doing the Mariner in Oct. and the Navigator for 3 back to back in Jan. 2023. And a wow trip next Nov. Istanbul to Dubai.

We sailed Croatia to Rome in Apr/May this yr. on Silverseas Dawn, their new ship and advertised "luxury". But definitely not at all "luxury". Seabourn comes close to Luxury but for us, only Regent Seven Seas knows what luxury means and delivers a Wow every time.

So no more attempts with other companies. We will only sail we Regent now. They are worth every penny.

  3. We were on the QM2 for the 14 day, Caribbean cruise and the Boardwalk Cafe was never open.  We were told, not enough staff.

Tried room service  only once. After a 1 hr. wait, I called to ask how much longer for our breakfast and we were told maybe another 1/2 hr but may be longer.   We went to the dining room.

We also found out that , If you have a balcony, the dripping rust is not conducive to eating, drinking and/or just sitting.  The maintenance of the QM2 is deplorable.

Masks are the least of your worries while onboard.

  4. Enjoyed back to back on the Splendor in January and the hogs were out in full force. Although the ship had only 482 guests, the lounges were all "occupied" by stuff no later then 7:00 a.m. As we had many seas days due to cancelled ports, it got frustrating to not enjoy a lounge chair unless you woke up at sunrise, went to the library, took out a book and put that book on a lounge chair!! Many of those folks made appearances during the day but only played on their iPhones! The book was forgotten!

We took a table for 4 near the pool grill. The 2 of us then took 2 chairs & sat, then took the other 2 chairs, put our feet up and relaxed.  If you are enjoying the cruise you can't let selfish people get under your skin.

They seem to appear on all cruise ships.

  5. Just got back from a 14 day cruise on the QM2 and enjoyed the Grill Terrace, sometimes. Use stairwell D as the easiest access. We saw several wheelchair and scooter folks using the Terrace with no problem.

The main complaint with the Grill Terrace is that all the folks not in the Grills  think they can use it too. So if you arrive at 10:00 a.m. on a sea day, it is crowded.

If you complain, forget it, no one checks to see if you are a Grill guest or an inside cabin guest.

  6. We just returned from New York 14 day round trip Caribbean. We make sure we were vaccinated and got our boosters, not just for the cruise but for ourselves.

That said, we did everything Cunard stated via online forms filled out and PCR & antigen test 2 days prior. We also brought our vaccine cards with us, as demanded by Cunard.

No one, I mean No one at the Brooklyn Terminal or even the QM2 staff asked us for any health documents that their website demanded we bring with us.  Even onboard many of that boarded in NY asked why no

one cared about our health docs, and got a shrug of the shoulders!

I would say that for the rare person with a mask being used as a chin guard all guests wore masks.

  7. We just finished a back to back on the beautiful Splendor. Everyone really did a great job with the masks. And all of us did once or twice forget to put it back on when leaving a dining venue.  Staff usually gently reminded you to put it back on.

At the pool, bars and in restaurants no masked needed.  The Splendor crew go out of their way to insure cleanliness comes first. In the La Veranda buffet dining room a crew member asks you  to actually wash your hands at the entrance to the room. Each entrance has a built in sink area.

After 2 yrs. without cruising this first experience back was wonderful. Regent ships are beautiful, the crew are over the top great and even with the masks, we had a wonderful time.

And can't wait to get back on the Splendor in April for the crossing.

Our flight to and from was 3 hrs. each. We opted for business class to be more comfortable. The mask issue wasn't as annoying as the 2 yr. old whinnying/temper tantrums for the 3 hrs. coming home.

  8. Thank you mrlevin for all your comments. We arrive next week, Jan 6th for a back to back on the Splendor. It’s been almost 2 yrs. since we got one of the first FCCs due to Covid. We love Regent and even with all the unusual issues & unplanned changes we still want to enjoy getting away on Regent.  Sea days on Regent are always wonderful.  Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

  9. We can’t wait till January 6th to begin our back to back on the Splendor. Two yrs. of our retirement lost here at home and not traveling the world with Regent.

Thanks to all for your comments, especially BNguy for your details of what to expect at the Port in Miami.  Even before Covid, the Port staff were slow and sometimes arrogant. Let us hope that when the cruise ends the Port staff allow us clearance to disembark on time. For some reason, Regent always gets a late clearance.

  10. Our last trip with Regent, on the Explorer was a back to back in Jan. 2020. So it's been 2 yrs. since we cruised (or traveled for that matter, as we cancelled 3 other cruises). We even missed the second sailing of the Splendor. We are looking forward to enjoying  a back to back on the Splendor this January.  Although we booked excursions, if they cancel so be it.

We have come to enjoy everything Regent. On port days and if you don't have an excursion, the ships are like your personal yachts. You even get your personal lounge chair at the pool without leaving a hard cover book (from the library) on the chair at 7:00 a.m. !!! You may go into town, on your own just, for the walk or just enjoy the leisure of being pampered onboard.

We have missed 2 yrs. of our retirement, not traveling. We are so looking forward to getting  back to normal and enjoying Regent, no matter what excursions are available.

Happy & safe travels to all!

  11. What a shame to cancel a vacation/cruise just because of a mask requirement.  We have cancelled 4 cruises due to the pandemic and we can't wait till be can again travel.   We plan to start cruises with the Regent Splendor in January and again in April.  And 2 others during the year.  After 18 months of being at home do to Covid, we have reorganized the house, got rid of tons of stuff,  painted inside and outside, removed old furniture and bought new, our gardens never looked better & and the lawn looks gold course green.  There is nothing left for us to do but travel!  Think positive. As the saying goes: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

  12. If I have this correct, Regent begins air booking 210 prior to the cruise. My TA always calls Regent at that time requesting non-stop only for the air.  There is a one time fee for the deviation and we always arrive a day or two earlier and maybe a day or two after.  We have never had a problem with the Regent air with our deviations. We have always had to wait for confirmation but Regent has always been good with these arrangements.  But this was before Covid.  The airlines alone have not resumed all flights schedules yet.

  13. Please let us all think positive and look forward to cruising again.  I envy those already on the Splendor and look forward to my 18 day sailing with her in January. And the other 3 bookings we have for sailings in 2022.

Thank you Daisy UK for your post.

  14. We love Regent and have sailed on all but the Splendor due to COVID.

    1. Overall, Regent is oh so better.

2.Never asked for a full lobster but over the past 14 yrs. no one ever said No to

    any of our requests.

    3. Trivia is played on sea days only, just like other ships.

    4. So many games are played only on sea days.

    5. Depending on the port and the local companies, we have had an early a.m. excursion and the  afternoon excursion but we have missed onboard lunch a few times running from bus too bus!

    6. We have done several private excursions with Regent. All were outstanding but pricey.

We found that booking private excursions with Viatar online much cheaper. Also out TA has booked tours cheaper too. But remember, if you are in a remote area the ship won’t wait for you if you have private travel problems!

    7. You pay the difference but business class domestic isn’t oh so expensive if you use points and/or do your research. We only fly business class. But be careful with international air with Regent or other cruise companies. Unless you insist and have a diligent TA they book you on connecting flights. So; Rome to NY flight might take 14 hrs because you have a 5 hr. layover in Munich.

    8. Check with your agent for details.

For us, Regent is our go to cruise company. We research itinerary first. So there may be other companies with better offers.   But we 267 nights sailing with Regent we love the service, quality, luxury and just plain outstanding crew service.

    Enjoy your trip!

  15.

We had 2 cruises with Regent cancelled in 2020. The April 2020 NYC crossing on the new Splendor, in a suite, was fully paid and so we only got a FCC. On this cruise we had 3 cancellations and the FCC forwarded now to January 2022. The other Regent cruise we got our money back except that $100 each

    admin fee.

We had 1 cruise with Silverseas cancelled and fully refunded.

We has 2 cruises with Cunard transatlantic crossing cancelled and got fully refunded.

We now have 4 cruises booked for 2022. 2 with Regent.

  16. We cruise at least 3 months a year and had 3 cruises canceled due to covid.  We miss our retirement travels and want to get back traveling only when it is safe/healthy to do so.  Vaccinations should be mandatory just like other vaccinations you must take if traveling to other countries. Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Tetanus and Typhoid, Yellow Fever, just to name a few.  They are demanded before you get on a ship so this new vaccine should be added to the list. We have all required vaccinations done through Passport Health here in the USA & we carry the Health Card in our passports.

Personally I don't trust others to just say they got vaccinated.
