  1. We to had this email recently with a PDF of our account from a cruise we took in May this year. It is legit and is from Princess and like already stated it appears the accounting department has a very large backlog and there are delays in sending out these final accounts.

I got my first notification from the Princess App ever:  "ssss aaaa."  When I tried to open the app, it just is in a continual "loading" phase and can't pull up my boarding QR code.  🤔

I just received the same notification too. I was trying to access the Princess App just before receiving this notification & kept getting a message saying their servers were down. Then straight after this notification I was able to get in and the QR code was still showing on mine. It appears to have been a glitch.

Why am I getting this error message?  I have contacted Princess several times in the last few months, and nothing. Is it because my cruise is not until summer 2024?

As I posted upstream, I am getting the same thing. Our cruise is April 2024 on the new Sun Princess. Which ship are you on? And are you on any sort of special fare not available to the general public? I'm on an interline fare (special fares for guests in or retired from the travel industry - airline in my case) so wondering if that's a factor. I have done online chat and sent an email to the Medallion support people (askoceanmedallion@carnival.com) and while both acknowledged the problem, there has been no fix yet. I also get an error when I try to go to DineMyWay.

EDIT: I just saw from your signature you're also on Sun Princess. I wonder it that's the cause.

We're on the Sun.....and we're getting it, too. They haven't finished building it yet....I'm guessing that might be the issue. But, it's evidence how much we want to sail!!!!

    Cruise on, folks! 🥰

I am sailing on Sky Princess later on this year and I also get the exact same error message.

I have been trying for a few months now and whilst I can access the Medallion app and dining options I cannot get into the Ocean Ready section.

I have also sent off an email and am waiting for a response but nothing received yet and it’s very frustrating and it needs sorting by Princess.

Just booked a cruise for April 2024 last week and deposit is paid. The Medallion App initially shows the cruise but then when I tap "Ocean Ready" to start entering information, I get an error "Unfortunately, there seems to be an issue with the service. Try again later." It's now two days "later" with no change.

I don't know if it's relevant but we have a guarantee booking. And we were first going to go two weeks later (overlaps the current booking which is for 21 nights) and that still shows on courtesy hold per the website Personalizer but does not show on the Medallion App.

This is the exact same issue I am having. We booked a cruise about a month ago and paid the deposit and every time we try to access the Ocean Ready section we get the same error message.
We can access the Medallion app okay and have booked our dining reservations with no problem but just cannot get any further.

We have tried on several different phones, iPads and even tried the web version but it just won’t work.

We phoned Princess and they too couldn’t gain access and so we have had to email all the info & error messages to their IT department.

Fingers crossed they can sort it out as it appears something somewhere is not working or being recognised as it should be.

I can’t sign on and I keep getting a message saying that they are having server problems.  Is anyone else getting this message?

I can sign into the Medallion app but cannot access the OceanReady section and keep getting the error message that they are having server issues.

If you’ve been trying for weeks, then you may have other issues, besides the weekend updates and website issues.

Make sure to clear history and cache. Try delete App and reinstall. Make sure you have updated the App.

You can also do your oceanready on the website, cruise personalizer. Once you checkin doing the website version. Give it a day or two and see if you can get back on the downloaded App.

If you’re still having issues either call in and pick the option for the App team to get ocean ready or email them.

    Askoceanmedallion@carnival.com

    Full name

    Ship and sail date

    Booking number

    Device you are using

Exactly what you are doing and error responses

    Let us know.

Thank you for your response and we have tried the website version but suffer the same issue. It’s strange we can get into the app and can book our dining but cannot do anything else.

I will try your suggestion of clearing the history & cache etc and if no joy I will send the email.

  7. I cruised last year and used the Medallion app with no real issues and I was able to enter all the required pre-cruise info and so having booked a cruise for this year I thought it would be easy but how wrong was I.

I can log in and have been able to book dining reservations but I cannot access the OceanReady section.

I’ve been trying everyday for weeks now to enter details for my upcoming cruise but always get different error messages that either state ‘Unfortunately there seems to be an issue with the service’ or ‘Something went wrong please try again later’ or ‘We’re sorry our servers are having problems, please try again later’.

I have even tried accessing it at different times throughout the day but it’s now getting extremely frustrating!
Does anyone please have any suggestions?

Who did you use for your pre cruise covid test please we are thinking of Lloyds chemists.

I am booked in at Lloyds chemist for my covid test before I board the Sky Princess soon and my parents also used them 2 weeks ago and were very impressed with the service and the speed of the certificate produced and they are accepted by Princess.

That is so good to hear as there is a live from at the moment which does not sound too good as the ship is 95% full and there are few staff so long lines the OP says

It’s currently half term here in the UK and so the kids are off school for a week so maybe this might be a reason why the ship is almost full. My parents were on Sky Princess 2 weeks ago and they said although they sometimes had to wait & there were occasionally queues they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and said the food was lovely. I’m due to board Sky Princess myself on 11 June so I will see first hand myself what it’s like.

  10. We sail this Saturday and up until now the medallion app was kind of working fine for us as we were able to get our dining options we wanted, upload our passport info & photos and we had selected our embarkation time - we had Group A so the first available time slot.

All was good yesterday but checking it again today our embarkation slot has disappeared along with the QR code - the only available embarkation slot left was the very last option.

The issue we have is that we have pre-booked our travel arrangements to get to the port for the early embarkation time slot we originally had and this cannot be amended.

I am Elite and so would usually get priority boarding and don’t want to be sat around for hours on end after getting dropped off earlier due to our slot that disappeared.

Has anyone else had this issue or know whether we can maybe still board early?

I've only done about 5 cruises ( celebrity, Royal carribean) . I'm going to book my first ever prince's cruise ( norway).

I'm confused by cabin type... so many are listed with seemingly little difference between them (looking at balcony, Premier balcony and mini suite) is a lot based on location rather than difference in amenities / service?

Are there kettles in the room for uk sailings?

Some are based on location and in a mini suite you will have a sofa and a slightly larger cabin. If you do a mock booking and click on a cabin it will tell you the size and show you a diagram of the layout etc.
Yes you will have a kettle and teabags/coffee sachets & milk when sailing from the UK.

  12. We watched the program and really enjoyed it and Susan Calman is brilliant and enjoyable to watch. We love her presenting style and can’t wait for the next episode. It’s making me very excited for my Princess cruise coming up in June.

There are various reports regarding booking with Lloyds - although you can make a booking on line, apparently not all the pharmacies actually perform the test. Also, those that can are having issues sourcing the kits! It is advised to call the one you are interested in and check out if they can actually do it or not.

Boots offer the tests but only seem to have bookings until the end of the month. Not sure if they only open up slots a few weeks at a time.

Also Dam Healthcare also offer testing on site and results in ~ 4 hours I believe.

Thanks @downsmead for the info and heads up and I’ll contact my local Lloyds pharmacy to check if they do the tests and if they have some. I hope they do as it’s only about 2 miles away from where I live although I have some time to sort it as I don’t sail until June 😁

  14. I was just wondering if anyone has used the Lloyds Pharmacy lateral flow test for a UK sailing (they call it a Fit to Fly test suitable for travel). They offer a lateral flow that is done & supervised by a pharmacist (healthcare professional) and you are then given a certificate to prove a negative result all within about 15 minutes and I was wondering if this would be accepted by Princess? I know you can get a test done at the port for $60 but the Lloyds test is cheaper plus I would like the peace of mind that I have that negative result the day before sailing rather than get to the port and then find out I’ve tested positive and have to return home.

  15. I totally agree & I would be so annoyed too. It’s bad service from Princess to just cancel bookings because some super rich person/company wants to take over the whole cruise. It’s clearly a money spinner for Princess but they are not thinking about their regular customers who they rely on when there are no charters. What Princess should do is to say that whoever this rich person/company is then they can book the remaining cabins that are left and leave the regular customers with their bookings (although there is the possibility that this charter may then take over all the activities on board).

What do you have to do if the app doesn't recognize your booking number?  I get the red message "Your booking information does not match our records."

I have checked and rechecked the booking number and what I am entering is correct.

I had the same situation a few days ago & like yourself I was using the correct information and so I just left it for an hour & when I tried again it worked perfectly fine. So maybe leave it a while then try again.

I was able to make reservations for our July 2022 cruise but get the same message as you for our April 2023 cruise.

I am Elite & was able to select my dining reservations a while back for my June 2022 cruise & I saw they were still there yesterday but I have just checked now and my reservations have all disappeared and I too get the message ‘sorry we cannot find any reservations at this time, please check back later’ when I try to rebook them. I’m hoping this is just a glitch & I haven’t lost my reservations as we prefer a table for 2.

  18. I was due to cruise on the Regal Princess in June but due to the extended pause this cruise was cancelled and I opted for the booking to be moved over to the equivalent cruise in 2022 with the same price & perks etc as this year which was great as the price for the new cruise in 2022 is a lot more.

My booking has now been updated & moved over to 2022 & I was given the exact same cabin which I am really happy with but when I checked the payments section it stated I needed to pay the deposit and it had to be done by today or the cruise would be cancelled.

I promptly called Princess & it turns out the deposit I had originally paid was £7 short as the deposit for the moved over cruise was slightly more.
The person I spoke to at Princess was very helpful and to ensure my booking wasn’t cancelled & for my peace of mind I did pay the additional £7 as it was such a small amount and my booking now shows it’s all updated and the final payment isn’t due until March 2022.

My concern is that if I hadn’t checked my booking then I may have missed the small additional cost and my cruise would of then been cancelled.....but I’m unsure if it would of been cancelled as it was moved over by Princess with all the same cost & perks etc.

The reason for this post is that I wouldn’t want anyone else to have their cruise cancelled due to this.

  19. I returned from sailing on Ventura only a week ago and have to say I had a wonderful 2 weeks. I loved everything about this ship and it’s very much like Azura which I also love. The Beach House was very popular and was often fully booked & we ate there twice and each time the food was amazing so I would definitely recommend going there. The Glasshouse was also very good and very busy each evening although during the day it was fairly empty. I liked the main pool with the retractable roof so if the weather is a bit iffy you can still use it but the pool by the spa was nice & quiet which I enjoyed. Also the theatre had recent movies playing daily & I enjoyed going along to watch them occasionally. I can’t wait to go back on Ventura & I’m sure you will have a great time.

  20. I understand that when on Anytime dining on Sapphire, there are a number of different restaurants you can use. I was just wondering if there is a preferred dining room that people tend to use for better service etc although I know it's the same menu in each.

The reason why I ask is that when I previously sailed on Celebrity Eclipse, I was advised to use the left hand entrance so you were seated on the left as the service was better...after trying both sides this certainly was true & the service was wonderful.

  21. Have just returned from a cruise on Azura and disappointed with the coffee shop and surrounding area.

I have cruised many other cruise lines and this area has always been a hub of activity.

My main gripe is the fact that you cannot get any food without buying a drink and there were notices on the tables that stated you could only sit there if purchasing a drink from the coffee shop.

Most of the time during the cruise this area was empty and I heard a number of people commentating that they also didn't like the fact they couldn't eat anything without making a purchase.

I feel the International Cafe on Princess is far better as you can grab a quick bite to eat or have something light for lunch without having to purchase a drink and the area is always bustling with people.

I understand paying for alternative dining options such as Seventeen or Sindhu and did partake in the use of these but begrudge not being able to have a quick bite to eat from the coffee shop rather than join the masses in the buffet without buying a drink.

Maybe its a contract they have with the Costa brand but I would expect the cakes etc are all made on board.

  22. I have cruised on both the Ventura & the Azura as well as the Crown & the Grand with Princess.

Both are very similar and as someone else posted, there are little things that are better on each cruise line - I personally prefer the food on Princess.

My mum recently cruised on one of these short cruises to Bruges and she has previously sailed on both Azura & Ventura as well as Princess ships and she also commented that it was not at all up to standard to what she would expect.

It was basically full of hen and stag parties and she commented that the stag parties were fine but the hen parties were extremely loud and rude.

I know the shorter cruises you would expect these type parties but she said that there were a lot of first time cruisers who commented they would not be booking another cruise as this really put them off although my mum did advise them the longer cruises are not like this and to not be put off.

Also, there were a number of items that were not available such as smoked salmon at breakfast and the pastries were not replenished at all.

I understand that the prices are a lot less for the shorter cruise but you have paid your money and so should expect the same standard.

A friend of ours works on the P&O ships and she commentated that the staff do not like these shorter cruises because of the rowdy passengers and its very hard work for them in such a short time.
