  1. Are there any updates on the specialty restaurant dining packages? I've read several places that they were being revamped and were supposed to be out in early May. It's now early June and no specialty restaurant packages are available for my cruise in September on Allure. I also notice that there was no Chef's Table option either, does anyone know if it is still offered on Allure?

We love the the specialty restaurants and chef's table, they are worth the extra money......but I also like the discounts too! :p

  2. Looking at this thru royal... Anyone have any opinions?

We did this excursion through RCL in September last year. This is the second time we have done it. My husband and I love it. The beach area is small, sandy, and shallow for a good way out. We loved sitting in the shallow water drinking our rum punch. The hospitality is great as it is a small family owned business. If you are looking for five star accommodations, this is not your excursion. It is more of a deserted island-type day. The chairs and umbrellas are not the newest, but in all honesty most people weren't lounging. Most people were in the water or snorkeling. The food was good local fair. There are limited people and it is not crowded.

I would suggest booking through the cruise line as it will get you to and from the location where the boat picks you up and drops you off. You will be taken to a deserted, half-completed resort. The developers ran out of money before completion. You will be thinking "what the hell" when you get there but you can see the little island from the shore.

This is one of our favorite excursions and we have been on a bunch of cruises, but again, it's all about what you like to do. We will definitely choose to do this again when we are in Antigua. If you like a nice day on a white calm sandy beach, this is for you.

    Hope this helps.

  3. We contacted Calabaz to schedule a catamaran tour when we would be in port, but they do not have availability. They provided us with some recommendations and I've already been getting responses that most have openings. So, does anyone have experience with the following companies:

    Silver Moon Barbados

    Shasa Catamaran Cruises

    Action Charters

    Small Cat Cruises

    Bolador Tours

    Calypso Cruises

We too found ourselves having to find a different catamaran tour due to others being booked up this past September. I can highly recommend R&R cruises http://www.randrcruisingbarbados.com They take no more than 12 passengers, includes all of your drinks, exceptional food, swimming with the turtles, snorkeling, transportation round trip, and great hospitality. They did not require a credit card to hold the trip, just an email confirmation and a phone number where they can contact you in port (if needed), you pay cash or credit card at the end of the trip.

It is well worth looking into and Rebecca and Ryan have a heartwarming story as to how they got to where they are today, they are a great couple. I highly recommend R&R and will use them again on our next trip to Barbados!

  4. I was also looking at booking with R & R. Can you tell me what time you got back to the ship? I want to make sure we have plenty of time.

I don't remember the exact time we got back to the ship but they will definitely have you back to port in plenty of time, they will make sure of that. The day we were there was stormy and rainy which can take longer driving, (it's about a 30 minute drive to the marina they are docked in), but we had no issues. Even with the rain and storms, we really enjoyed the trip. You won't regret booking it.

The excursion will pretty much take up the majority of your port time, so you won't have time to do much more than walk around the shops at the port if you are looking at doing anything else.

  5. We just got back from our So Caribbean cruise on Jewel. I tried booking Calabaza and Elegance and both were already full. So we ended up booking with R&R Cruises and it was WONDERFUL! Like the others, the max number they take out is 12, beautiful boat, premium food and drinks, transportation to pier, excellent snorkeling and swimming with turtles. Not to mention Ryan and Rebecca were such wonderful hosts and bent over backwards to make everyone's trip so memorable. We will definitely book with R&R when we go back! Very intimate and not a party atmosphere.

  7. Kauai is the best island for a helicopter ride in my opinion, it was amazing. We have also done a catamaran sail up the Na Pali coast......also amazing!!

  8. We did this tour about a year and a half ago and we loved it. It was a great relaxing beach day. The water was shallow so you could wade out and sit in the water and relax and visit. We had no problems with jelly fish either. Planning on doing this again on our cruise in September.

  9. We just booked Maya Chan. This will be our 5th trip to Costa Maya and our 1st time to Maya Chan. Most all of the reviews have been very positive and it is owned by frequent cruisers who were originally from San Diego. Looking forward to it!!:o
