  1. Yeah....but I'm sure we'll go there once or twice since we're coming with kids (I.e. for the variety). Definitely want to try Park Cafe. Sounds like it's a good one.

    Is Solarium good for kids?

Answer to this depends on who you ask. Some people say no since the Solarium is for adults only and others (like myself) do not mind the children if they are well behaved. If you think they are going to be loud you might avoid it for lunch.

  2. We are currently booked for a balcony cabin on deck 6. But I am thinking of moving to a D5 balcony on deck 12. Does anyone have any thoughts on which deck would be better.

I was thinking 12 would be more convenient since we will spend most of our time on 15. TIA

I love balcony cabins on decks 6-8 on Oasis Class because the Promenade is on deck 5, Boardwalk on deck 6 and Central Park is on deck 8 so you are close to three main areas of the ship.

On my last Freedom cruise we were just a few decks below the pool deck and it was nice to be able to walk up to the pools.

Either way, you cannot go wrong!!

  3. I have cruised quite a few times on ships in the fleet, but I disagree. It doesn't matter the size of the ship, as to whether you will see the CD and AM a lot -- it depends upon the way they view their job and do it, and where you as the cruiser find your interests.

On our Allure cruise we had Allan Brooks (CD) and Zach Stratford (AM) and we saw one of them at MANY many things and at times just walking around the ship....it seems they took the more public hallways/walkways to go from venue to venue, rather than the crew walkway called "I95" in the belly of the ship.

We were on Indy recently and the CD wasn't very visible, except when he hosted an event -- and he did a very good job as host. But Amy Tripp (AM) was popping up all over the place, besides the events she hosted.

I have had Allan Brooks twice. Once on the Freedom and then again on the Allure. I saw him FAR less on the Allure. At the same time, Ken Rush on the Allure was everywhere. But I still do not see them on the Oasis class nearly as much as on other classes.

  4. Perhaps someone who was on the Oasis either with Tennessee_Cruiser or on a cruise on Oasis can let me know who the Activity Manager was/is onboard.

Glad to hear that she was good.

Sometimes the Activity Manager co-hosts the Morning Show with the CD, so if someone has a Cruise Compass they might see it listed there.

    Thanks

I think I saw her co-hosting the morning show, but lately I have not been watching the morning show. I see you have sailed on the Allure, so you know the CD and the AD on Oasis class ships are not seen nearly as much as on the other classes. If I did not go to the Quest, I would have barely seen the CD.

  5. Interesting about 150 Central Park changing their menu. The portions were very small when we dined there in 2012 & our 17 yr old nephew was starving!! Went for the experience but the portions were soooooo small.

I am in the process of booking shows & dining times for my time( hope we get our table for 2!) for our July trip . From what I can see the 70's street party is on night 5 - the second formal night. Is that correct?? Many thanks for all your info!!

150 CP was one of my favorite meals all week. Everything was so fresh and delicious!

On our western Oasis cruise the 70's street party was at 10:00 pm on night 5 (second for night).

Here are pictures from our 150 CP dinner...

  6. My wife and I were on this cruise and it was great.

At no time did I feel the ship was over crowded. We've been on Allure twice, and I couldn't tell any difference in crowding.

Sometimes at breakfast there was a line to get into the Windjammer, but the staff was quickly clearing off tables and seating people from the line. We also ate breakfast at the Wipeout Cafe and the Solarium Bistro. There are many breakfast options.

We ate at 5 different specialty restaurants and the service at all of them was exceptional. Izumi did have our reservation wrong, my email confirmation and stateroom tv said 7:00, but the restaurant had 6:00. We had to reschedule our meal, but they comp'ed us $60 for our hibachi meal, and comp'ed us Johnny Rockets for the night we missed. I asked for the Johnny Rockets meal, they probably would have comp'ed us any restaurant, but my wife and I didn't feel like dressing up.

The pool was busy, but no busier than any other cruise. The bar staff was great to me and I tipped an extra $1 every time; I had the premium package. After a while they started offering me bottles of water I didn't ask for, and shots of Patron tequila. Also, if one pool bar was too busy I just went to another one, there are 5. I found the bars on deck 16 often had no wait. People either didn't know they were there, or didn't want to walk up the stairs.

The only time we had a problem was disembarkation. This was a mess. We had luggage tag number 18 for a 9:15 disembarkation, and we 'might' have been off the ship at 11:00. We pulled away from the port at 11:45. This might have been a customs thing, but I was not happy. But I guess you're never happy when vacations over!

We enjoyed this cruise so much we booked Harmony of the Seas for December of 2016 while on board.

Disembarkation was a diaster! We have never had to wait that long to get off the ship. Glad we had a late flight.

I agree that the bar staff did a great job keeping the drinks flowing, and like you I was tipping $1 for every drink at the pool. (My personal rule is if I get the drink I do not tip extra, but if they bring the drink to me I give $1.)
