1. Heard that the ship has an Abba Tribute Show, i don't see it at the booking show reservations link, so if you have any information as to where and when this show runs, would appreciate it. Also, do you have to pick up reservation tickets, or just show up...? Just love Abba!

ABBA tribute band was on last week. This week we have Moasic (seen before, good show). You book these shows as HEADLINER in your scheduler, and they vary by week.

  2. This may sound odd, but I read a review that mentioned getting coffee the morning of debarkation was difficult. Is it possible to order room service the night before and have coffee delivered to your room at like 5-6am the morning of debarkation? Or does room service stop the day of debarkation? Also, when you order room service coffee, are you able to order like a pot of coffee? Or do they just bring you a cup? I booked a Thanksgiving cruise on Oasis, my first RC cruise, and can't wait! Thank you!

No room service on debarkation day. They want you OFF the ship! :-/

It is just a cup of coffee.

First Oasis cruise? Exciting! Great ship. About to get off, but here is my view...

  3. Yum! Can you get the cucumber martini any where else on the ship? How much are pay per view movies and what is the selection like? Is there a good variety of beer available besides at the pub ( I know their menu is extensive)?

Sadly, the aforementioned martinis are only available at 150 CP, but they will give you the recipe! (Can post picture later.)

Not in my room, but I will check the price of the movies when I get back.

I don't drink beer, but I asked my brother (mpoole3), and he said, "not extensive, just standard selection outside of the pub."

  4. Hello cruise critic!! Thought about doing a live review, but I knew myself well enough to know I would not keep up with the review.

Few helpful tips about the Oasis...

-we bought the internet package for two devices at $140, but C&A discounts brought that down a bit. The speeds are great!!

-night one 150 Central Park was half off of $30--not $40 as advertised on the website. It is $30 all week, so if you are booked at 150, you will probably want to cancel and book on board.

-the Britto store isn't a true Britto store. It's more of a Park West store with mostly high-end Britto paintings, which tend to be 3-D.

-we weren't allowed to book a cabana in Labadee. They had what looked like a mattress on the beach for rent at $220, but we said "no thanks."

-reports of people leaving Cats early are true.. 45 minutes into the show, we left. I love musicals; was a music major in college! But this musical does not fit on a cruise ship in my opinion.

    Any other questions?? :)

  5. We go to the informal ones that the Roll call organizes at a bar usually on embarkation day. I find them more fun than the ship sponsored ones.

Not so much anymore to the ship organized ones.

Same here. On my upcoming Oasis cruise the M&M is scheduled for day 2 at 10:00 am. I do not want to miss out on my first sea day by going to the M&M, because I have been to more than a few dull meetings.

We are meeting informally as a group after muster drill, and I am looking forward to that gathering... it is near a bar! :D

  6. I also want to say. They usually have a watch sale one evening. No you won't find the higher end watches there. You need to go in the shop on the ship to find that and yes they will usually price match

And I'll add make sure they actually scan the watch! They told me the Tag I wanted was 20% off and I said, "no thanks." Because I thought it was too high. Went in the next night--after a few glasses of wine --to look at the watch again and I said to a different salesperson, "I love that watch, but at 20% off it's just too high." She said, "I think we are running a better sale than 20% off." She scanned it and it was somewhere around 38% off! I was worried it was a mistake so I said, "I'll take it!" I'm sure the wine had nothing to do with it! :D

  7. I bought a TAG Carrera Automatic Chronograph on the Navigator at a very good price, and it was tax free! I had the internet package so I checked a few online sites and emailed a friend who called two local store and the ship had the best deal.

I ended up having to pay duty on it when I came back into port, but it was only $15 or so (couldn't believe it was that cheap!) and I was able cut to the front of the customs line since I had to be escorted to a customs officer.

The watch came with the stamped international warranty card and I double checked the serial number on the watch with the serial number on the warranty card just in case.

It was fun buying the watch on the ship because it adds to the story of the timepiece.

  8.
In other flat fee speciality restaurants you can order as many appetizers as desired but only one entrée. Does anyone know if that is the case at Sabor and what are considered appetizers on this menu?
When we ate at Sabor on the Navigator we ordered one appetizer, and the server said, "that's all?" and suggested a few others and brought them out to us (at no additional charge).
  9. I have never seen it half full or more so not really sure you could call that "Having customers". I know that land based restaurants would go out of business with that.

From what Ive gathered, its about 30 - 40% full at most any given time now and never a problem to get a desired time.

Ill have my filet at Giovannis and buy more drinks with the 14.00 pp i saved by not going to Chops. :D

It is usually fairly full to packed when I go. I'll send pictures! :D

They would not raise the price if they did not think they could. The market has spoken.

  10. Booked Chops when it was $35 and went to change the date/time of my reservation, but it would not let me do it. I called C&A and the first rep told me I owed $4 extra per person, because of the recent price increase. She transferred me to her supervisor and he said the system would not let him change the date/time, but he is going to look into it and call me on Monday. He thinks it is an IT problem, and not a policy problem.

    Just FYI! :)

  11. Did the eligible price per glass go up on the select package? When I was on the Oasis in November, it was a maximum of $8 per glass.

    http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/shared_assets/pdf/menus/beverage_packages.pdf

Select package includes wine up to $8 a glass.

Premium package includes wine up to $12 a glass.

My guess is that there will be an 18% gratuity on the $2.

This is true from past experience. (It was 15%, but I think gratuities are now 18%.)

  12. Heck no, while the specialty restaurants do pretty good with bar service I always do this in the MDR (where bar service is typically slower).

Just don't bring a bucket of beer to dinner......

Not at all. Most bartenders offered another glass or refill for the road (or for the walk??) when they knew we were leaving. Lots of people had a bottle in hand on the way to dinner, especially on formal night.

I'm not my little brother (mpoole3), so I wouldn't try to bring a bucket of beer to dinner!!! :p

Thank you for the tips!! I like the idea of bottle of wine in the MDR, because like you, the bar service has been average at best.

  13. What if the OP actually likes Sonic tater tots? :)

I dont mind tater tots. Ive even been known to eat Sonic tater tots with cheese and chili

I dont think the word tater tot belongs on a menu of a fine steakhouse that is often compared to high end land based steakhouses but I was under the impression that there is similarity at all between the Gruyere tater tots and frozen tater tots found in the frozen section of a grocery store.

Peoples tastes are so different and food is so subjective.

Very true. How rude of me!

What I should have said was, "if you want Sonic tater tots with your meal these are perfect! If not, you might want to try another side."

  14. Has anyone on here actually had those tater tots yet???

I ordered the tater tots on the Navigator and they tasted like tater tots from Sonic, just larger. I ate two bites to make sure I did not like it... the second bite was just as bad as the first!

It's popular to hate on Chop's, but we always enjoy it! Just do not order the tater tots!

  15. I understand the practical argument but enjoy wearing my Rolex every day. The service part is just something we have to accept.

Sort of like driving a Cadillac when a Chevy will get you to where you want to go just as well. There's something to be said for driving a nice car.

Well said! Bought an Omega last year and I love wearing it every day. Already wanting another...

  16. If you're buying a Rolex, ONLY buy from an authorized dealer.

It would also make sense to buy it locally, so you can bring it to the authorized dealer for maintenance on a regular basis.

I agree with only buying from an authorized dealer 100%!! I have bought two nice watches recently and one of them was a TAG on the Navigator. I looked over it very throughly and made sure it came with the proper warranty cards. (Only AD will provide stamped/signed warranty cards.) Tip: make sure the warranty card serial number matches the serial number on the watch.

I know they might look nice, but who want's to buy a watch that "needs" regular maintenance. Isn't the goal of paying a premium price for a watch is to get something dependable that doesn't require maintenance ?

Every automatic watch that I know of has to be serviced a regular intervals to make sure the watch stays in tip top shape. If you do not understand why this is, I suggest using google. :)
