  1. I called Royal. No size limit on the bottle.

for quite a few people, (myself included) they prefer certain wines. Most of our favorites, for instance are boutique wines only sold by the vintner or through local resellers( such as Taste of Monterey.. oh how I miss being stationed there)

did I find some nice bottles on board? absosmurfly. don't regret one bottle choice we made on the package. But the two bottle of Bernardus Marinus I have been hoarding for 5 years are special to us and I want to enjoy it while watching the sunset over the water one night.

as for 3 glasses per bottle.. damn you must either have REALLY big glasses, or really small bottles. we routinely get 4-6 glasses pb and I am in no way stingy with my pour. and some bartenders can squeeze 8 per bottle. I have seen it often.

  2. Hi, Policy just went into effect today. It's for real.

    The website still says this:

    Onboard Policies

Q: Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) onboard?A: Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports-of-call or from Shops On Board will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqSubjectName=Onboard+Policies&faqId=260&faqSubjectId=333&faqType=faq

So don't be surprised if it is confiscated.

  3. Thanks for the reply...Looks like you did exactly what we want to...

You book a three hour tour. Total cost is $95. You pay a $50 deposit when you book it.

At the end of the tour, you pay what you owe. We booked the 3 hours, wound up taking a total of 4 hours, paid it and tipped our driver Alberto.

Very simple to do. When we got off the ship, he was waiting, got into his cab, left the port area, parked, and he went over a map with us and made recommendations, such as Mayan ruins, tequilla factory, etc.

All we wanted to do was hit the east side, hit a couple of bars, have lunch, and then a beach for about an hour, which is what we did.

Fantastic time, just do your research, know what you want to do, and it is smooth as that.

  4. Thank you for the info..Would you mind saying how long of a tour you took ? We have been all over Cozumel, but want to go to the east side, and that is really all we want to do . other than maybe shop a little at El Centro. Thanks

We usually visit Cozumel by cruise ship but recently went to Cozumel for a week and had a fantastic time. The highlight of the trip was the day we hired a driver for the day with Eduardo Esquer at the website http://www.toursplaza.com/categorias/info/hiring_a_driver.

When I emailed Eduardo he was very prompt. I told him the day and what we would like to see and do on the island. He sent me a confirmation and we paid the deposit. The day of our trip Luis picked us up at our hotel right on time. He had the list of places and made sure we used our time wisely. We went to Punta Sur, El Mirador, Coconuts for a margarita or two, Senior Iguanas for lunch (great suggestion by Luis!) and the tequila factory. It was a perfect day and we loved not being on a big tour. It was just my husband and I. Luis gave us great information about the island. If you plan on being in Cozumel for a day or a week, contact Eduardo and you won't be disappointed. Well worth the time and money.
