Freedom has Starlink. We were just on it back in August and we had the surf & stream internet and was using starlink. Pretty decent speeds and we even streamed Netflix.

Do you think its fast enough to check emails in morning?  Don't really need to stream it.

    Also, Go Noles!

  2. Just curious what kind of discount on balcony rooms can I expect now that I am platinum?

Would it be for every room in my party or just my room?

Example... looking at early january for a family cruise.  We would need 3 rooms ( and my parents will be on so they would get the 55+ discount)  Do these discounts all work together and does everyone in the party get it?

  3. Is there a way to see which ships have starlink as their internet provider?

I just got off Freedom this past Friday and didn't get internet cause they were still showing VOOM however I heard that Liberty of the Seas (out of Ft Laud) has starlink on ship.

Looking into taking a cruise early January with family but switching to Liberty so we could get internet and make it more of a work remote week.

I have bid and won 3 times this year.  What I cannot stress enough is for you to go to the Royal Up page and read ALL the rules and fine print.  Once you bid, you can modify and cancel, but once you win or they move you to a 'pending' pool of bids, there is no going back. Your bid will be charged to your card and your old room is now gone.  So if you love your room now and/or need it to be in a specific location such as close to the elevators, or other area, then DO NOT BID.  You should also look at the deck plans to see if any Jr suites are in areas where there might be something that bothers you--such as over a loud nightclub or under the pool deck where they start moving chairs around.  If you can live with whatever the worst possible location is for the category you are bidding on, then go for it  Also, keep in mind that since you're in a balcony now, you'll still just get a single point per night towards your C&A status, you won't get the 2 points per night that you get when you originally book a Jr Suite or above.

Yea I checked and it seems all the available JR suites right now are 8th, 9th, or 10th floor it would be nice for the bigger bathroom and bigger room but I am not banking on getting it seeing how we only bid an extra $100/pp haha

  5. Has anyone successfully used this service?

Wife and I are currently in a Balcony room and saw we could "bid" to upgrade to a Junior Stuite or others above.  Curious if anyone has done this and been successful and if so, and you feel comfortable, what you bid?  I know it is going to vary by cruise but just curious.  I see about 15 junior suites left if I go to make a booking and we are roughly 2-ish weeks away from the cruise.

  6. Quick question as its been a while since I have been on a cruise... I know you can either prepay your gratuities before you sail or you can have them added on your folio during your cruise.  If I wanted to pay the cruise with one card, the gratuties/extras (like dinners, drink packages, etc) before the cruise with another card, and then have a different card connected to my on board folio, could I do that?

To sum it up, can I pay the gratuties and extras with a different card after final payment but before the cruise?

  7. Good Afternoon Cruisers!

Just had a couple questions about our "possible" upcoming Mariner cruise in April.  Have been checking prices and seeing them fluctuate between $400 pp - $520 pp.  I know this is primetime because of spring break.  Just curious if the current price of $440 pp for a guarunteed interior (or $1086 for cabin) is reasonable price for this cruise, ship, time of year?  It shows no available 4 person rooms left, for interior, ov, or balcony, but i see TONS of promenade staterooms available.  Of course want to get best price but want to know if anyone know what the boards think in here.

    Thanks!  Happy Cruising!

  8. Hey Everyone!

So I am possibly looking at a cruise in April during my wifes spring break (shes a teacher so finding time to go on a cruise other then summer is hard)

Some of the ones we are looking at go to CocoCay.  I know it is supposed to be all ready to go with the refurbishments May 2019.  So if we go in April, any idea what may be open and what won't be ready?  We went back in December 2012, haven't been to Coco since.  Any advice or reviews of recent cruises would be great!

  9. I have participated in several ship tours and one of them on Princess showed us the laundry area with the washing machines and the automated linen folding machines. These are large front loading, industrial grade washing units, at least four times the size of a home unit. The soap appeared to be in concentrated power form, and was held in a large storage bay in the machine, needing to be filled only when it got close to empty. The soap dispensert fed the machine the appropriate amount each time the unit was started. Uniforms or guest clothing items were washed in smaller machines, or were processed through dry cleaning equipment much like you would see at your local dry cleaners.

So looked like it was powder not liquid? Thats interesting cause i wouldve thought liquid is easier?

  10. Any and all cruise lines. I have just always been curious. obivously most have self service machines but wondering what they spend and stuff to clean uniforms and sheets daily. Pods maybe more for self service area but for the commercial loads they do just curious

  11. Good Morning CC!

I have a rather interesting question. Does anyone know what kind of washers cruiselines use onboard to wash all the linens, cruise uniforms, etc? Also if anyone knows if they use liquid detergent vs powder vs pods?

If anyone know that would be amazing trying to hopefully figure out their processes onboard as well as what they use.

  12. Trying to pick a place to stay near Denali. Seeing mixed reviews of almost everything so not too sure and was hoping a couple people on here had opinions/reviews of Denali hotels and resorts. I have looked at Denali Bluffs, Denali Park Village, etc. Most of the places we are looking at are a pick up location for Husky Homestead tour.

  13. this may be bad but we still havent booked airfare from anchorage back to florida after our cruise. we are taking a cruise june 16-23 northbound. then spending another 6 days or so in alaska by ourselves. dropping off rental car and flying out. cant find a decent priced flight without connecting 2 or more times. any help is greatly appreciated. or even flying somewhere staying overnight and flying to florida in morning.
