If they follow Disney science, all guests 18 and over *must* be vaccinated, and all guests over the age of 10 must wear masks at all times except only when actively eating and drinking. All guests 10 and under only need to show a negative covid tests, and it is recommended 10 and under wear masks but not required. Why do vaccinated adults need to wear masks and unvaccinated children not need to wear masks? Disney science!

Good on Disney for no masks 10 and under

The US had a peak of about 313,310 new cases in one day and has a population of 330,000,000. India has a population of 1,400,000,000. On a per-100,000 basis, India has a long, long way to go before it gets to the craziness level the US had back in January.

Looking at it another way, 313,310 cases in one day in the US represents 0.0949% of the population. The current level in India of 350,000 cases represents 0.025% of the population. That would, in the US, represent a daily new case rate of 82,500.

The US had a daily new case rate of at least 82,500 every single day between October 28, 2020 and February 13, 2021.

When India has 1,328,600 new cases in one day, it will have reached the peak the US reached in its population.

The more you test , the more you will find.  How much is India testing?  Around 200,000 per 1 million... Their numbers are way higher than what is being reported (much like ours) - you aren't catching asymptomatic folks.

The graph seems to suggest that mask mandates may have had some beneficial effect until late March.  Of course there are other possible explanations.

But why the crossover? It's possible that Biden's statement caused states/counties/cities to either remove or add mandates.  Are the states/counties in the January data the same as the ones in the April data?

Or are the states/counties shifted to the other pot when they change their mandate?

Other possible explanations of the crossover are differences in the success of the vaccine program in different states, or the relative number of old people in each state.

Just not in other countries who have figured it out. The most advanced country is not quite there, but a third world port like Jamaica will host cruising come this summer.

    That is pure fantasy.

Covid is a reality that we can deal with (hopefully smartly), or stay in the closet and worry about all the what if’s.

Frankly I personally don’t care either way at this point. I love cruising but I have been to multiple destinations recently and I have been able to relax and enjoy. The ships can rust and wait - it won’t slow me down.

Pretty much what I’ve been doing for the last year.  Plenty of trips !

Experts/Scientists don't always get it right - and that's fine.

Michael Osterholm for example... Just a tad off.

He is part of Biden's Covid19 team.

TVs are cheap these days. Find a phone store with 5G phones. That's what I need.

I sure wish we could just cruise. Show our vaccination card or not. Whatever it takes. Just get on with it.

That first adult beverage is going to be fantastic.  Everyone is going to be singing zippiddy do da out of their rear ends - not arguing about face masks, mandates, police officers, etc.  You know, getting back to living life.

Something we can agree on completely.

Those who seek to only minimize the risk of covid by ignoring mask and health mandates are the ones who are wallowing in risk unaware.

And for the record, I absolutely believe that cruises could and should start up safely with the caveat of the first cruises going out fully vaccinated, much like NCL's proposal. Then, as things reach herd immunity, start opening them up for the children and the unvaccinated. But get cruises started for the vaccinated who want to cruise.

I won't ever accept masking has accomplished anything because the real world data proves otherwise.  I wore mine like a good soldier but not so much anymore now that I am fully vaccinated.  Honest question - if you have accepted some risk with being on an airplane and saw my two year old twins the row in front of you without masks on would you be scared, angry, nervous, all the above?  I am considering canceling our flight to Florida in June  (they will be just over 2 years old at time of flight ) because they will be required to wear masks, and they just won't no matter how much we try.   I think it's dumb, but rules are rules.

Cruises should be sailing with those of us who are vaccinated (assuming crew too) .  Kids/teens not sure what to do?  If masks work so well then they should be allowed on too right?  (just playing devils advocate).

When given the green light for kids to be vaccinated, my 3 kids will get the shots.  Not sure when that will be!  We all get flu shots, and this one will be no different.

Vaccines and boosters are definitely cool.

Human derived bio solid manure spraying = fecal aersol spread.  Parts of India where rice & tea are farmed aren’t experiencing nearly the increase....compared to crops that are fed w/ manure/fecal matter in other parts of the country - cases exploding

US corn counties experienced something similar last year....

Covid aerosols can stay lofted for days if not weeks in certain conditions.  Homes, LTC, farms, prisons, dense vertical housing, diamond princess lower decks(crew), etc .

(aerosolized fecal moisture could be the primary vector )

Don’t shoot the messenger - just regurgitating what my smart friends at the club are talking about.

Stay away from public bathrooms !

Countries can actively predict surges from waste samples in the sewers.

Interesting stuff... hope they get shots in arms over there soon.

Anyone ready to put the mask debate to bed?

I have many friends in India.  They are experiencing an awful surge.  Two friends, in their 30’s, were in ICU.  My friend’s 40ish uncle just died from covid there. Less than 2% of their population is vaccinated. I struggle to not see a correlation between covid cases and the vaccine?  I am cool with boosters.
