  1. Looks like Dorian turned a bit more northerly overnight and slowed down. Miami might only get the far reaches of Dorian's bands and it might not even happen until Saturday evening/Sunday morning. So Seaside letting off their passengers from this week and getting next weeks passengers on shouldn't be a problem.

San Juan and Nassau might be in doubt but I'd be surprised if either are scrapped unless the storm unexpectedly intensifies.

  2. Why would the YC Deck Party be the night of San Juan on the Seaside? That would seem to make the least sense of any of the 7 nights since you are actually still docked in port when the party would occur.

What is their rationale there, I wonder?

What kind of dog in picture?

    Half English Bulldog.

    Half Hound of the Baskervilles.

My friend rescued this boy's mama from the wild and found out a few weeks later she had some pups growing inside her. Fast forward a few months and 2 of the litter of 6 survived (😥) and I got the boy and she kept the girl.

He's the best with my new daughter tho, so I think I'll keep him!

  4. Man. Tough life, bruh.

In the meantime, anymore yummy pics of the actual dishes you guys decide to order would be amazing!

Will be in YC Seaside end of August and I'm apparently one that loves to tease my stomach.

It's here but this was before the October changes, some will now match one level lower.

Someone just reported on the NCL forum that Platinum Plus only matched to gold, Platinum used to be enough for black, but now not even Platinum Plus is good enough.

Interesting - I'm Gold with HH and got matched to Gold on MSC in November

    Definitely not complaining!

  6. I got the beef welly and it was pretty good. The sauce was the standout.

Candice got the steak frites. Cooked just probably two mins over a true medium rare but seasoned very well and still quite tasty.

For apps she got the scallops (a big bowl of "meh") and I got the prosciutto salad. More "meh"-ness. Not bad just not anything special in our opinions.

  7. Hey. Crashing your review again. We did the "Ultimate Adventure and Jost van Dyke" excursion today. It was a lot of fun. We got about 45 minutes at Jost van Dyke - enough time for a couple Painkillers. Then we completed a circumnavigtion of Tortola on a very fast and bumpy -but fun ride in a RIB (rigid inflatable boat). What a beautiful island!

If the "Escape to Jost van Dyke" tour is booked. This is a great second choice.

I tried several times to add a picture. Timed out every stinkin' time.

Don't forget Martini night at The Haven bar tonight!

Glad the weather held off for you guys! We will be down there -- Sylvia and Emir have been duly warned already.

  8. We went back and forth on a few options to eat after the sushi but settled on the scallops to try next. They were good but nothing that made me go "wow" like the crab roll earlier. Even the crispy salmon roll was better.

The scallops weren't bad at all but I just thought they were too busy with a seemingly mountain of crispy breading on top of them.

Next up was the pork belly and scallions dumplings.

Go to Food Republic and order these. This is not a suggestion. This is a command. They were that good.

Then we got my 2nd favorite corn dish in my entire life (Best is the creamed corn at Opus 9 in Williamsburg, VA) -- anyway this corn on the cob on a stick with cojito cheese and some kind of butter infused with what I can only assume were an angel's happy tears was just superb. It was such a unique taste and I would highly recommend trying it.

Next to the corn are the beef antichuchos. Came with a delicious wet rub in them that you squeeze key lime over and the flavor is extraordinary! Hell of a way to end our lunch.

Moral of the story:. Everyone is right. Don't delay in coming here. We will be going back to try other things we wanted to try today but ran out of space! So very good

Service was excellent as well and even if you have TECHNO-FEAR the tablets are so easy to use that my grandfather could order what he wanted without a problem.

  9. DRANKS!

We got two drinks each to try new things

And also because drinking is fun.

First, we got a toro toro for me with the spicy salt edge and a very good drink with ginger beer in it. She can chime in on the drinks name when she gets back on here.

Candice got a rum frozen drink of sorts. She didn't care for it but I thought it was good. Almost like a rum and coke slushy with hints of coconut.

I got a spritzy drink with that Italian liquor that I won't attempt to spell with pineapple and lemon juices. It wasn't for me but candice enjoyed it so we just switched our drinks. Easy enough.

  10. Food Republic lunch.

    Started with sushi.

Both very good but the crab roll was particularly special. As candice commented, it's basically like getting all the meat out of two crab legs without putting in the effort. And you still get drawn butter to dip it into. Just superb.

  11. INTERNET!!!

Oh, how I missed you so. Was probably out for guests (and crew according to some of them and guests services) for about 18 hours since last night. The iConcierge app never stopped working though, so the intranet was stable, they just couldn't get anything from off the boat for some reason. We've been told they will refund at least 1 day's worth of the package for both of us (and presumably any others that have the unlimited internet package.)

Went to Food Republic today for lunch while never getting off the ship in Tortola. Food pics to come in a few...

  12. Oh and I am a bartender and want to know more about these smoke cocktails. They were not making them in the haven on Getaway in May. Are they on the Tobacco Road cocktail list? What are they...

I was mistaken earlier. They don't do the smoke cocktails in TR. A "smokey" old fashioned but not truly smoke infused. This from Sylvia in the Haven Lounge.

  13. Went to La Cucina tonight. So very very good

Apps we had the buffalo mozzarella caprese salad and veal stuffed eggplant

    f3c6e340e3afbfbdf7873d3c14d0fe8e.jpg

For the 2nd course we had spinach and ricotta tortellini with a sage butter sauce and veal meatballs with rigatoni

    525778062ee310cd9f0f86e61031b91c.jpg

Main course we had lobster Fettuccini in a spicy marinara sauce and gorgonzola crusted filet mignon (perfectly cooked medium rare as you'll see)

    b50608b438d28c4d843fffe7cca992a6.jpg

And finally for dessert we had the ricotta cheesecake and blackberry marsala sauced panacotta (sp?)

We were very impressed with the food and service. If we cared much about the presentation I would say it was lacking a bit -- sloppy-ish -- but the taste was so good that it made up for it.

  14. LOL! You guys are so funny!!! Thanks for your posts.

Did you get a Wi-Fi package? And are you sharing?

Hoping sharing will work for me and my daughter when we sail 8/20.

    Thanks!

We got the "package" but that was just for 250 mins total for us to "share" and we couldn't both be on at the same time.

What we ended up doing is buying the unlimited package for her day 1 and had me use the 250 minutes that day and buy the unlimited package day 2 for 30 dollars less. Would have done it even later but you can't buy the unlimited package after 10pm on the 2nd day.

  15. Adding to Candice's note about the noise from above...

The deck chair noise is a nuisance at around 8/830 in the morning, at least for our cabin. I remember reading other reviews from people on deck 18 where they didn't have this issue and our friends farther forward on 18 have no issues at all, so it could just be a location thing.

It isn't the worst thing in the world, but it can be an irritating noise to wake you up about 30 minutes before the dreaded alarm clock is supposed to be the one waking you up.

    --------------

I will be downloading the Tapatalk app tomorrow in St. Thomas once in the range of some decent WiFi and will start uploading pictures in earnest once that happens. Thanks for the tip!

    Happy 4th, everyone!
