  1. Have you thought about calling the '"UPSELL NUMBER" 800-625-4309 (call on Monday). Some people get an upsell to the Haven for $500 or $750 per person. It is a bargain. On your sailing there are 9 H9 Haven cabins available (2 bedroom Family Villa--normally $9200 for 2 people) and 8 H5 Haven cabins available (Courtyard Penthouse--normally $7195 for 2 people). Check it out. It will be the best cruise EVER! Perhaps you can get everyone in one Haven cabin.

So, I am seeing 11/13 of the H9 (Spa Haven Suites) still available for the July 2nd sailing of this year. My wife and I would LOVE to be in those but I'm not about to spend 4k pp for them. My arm could be twisted to see me fork over about 2k pp for them though...

Do you think it is too far out to call the upsell number to see if we can get one for a cheaper upsell rate? Should I wait until late May/Early June?

    Thanks!

  2. We did this on another line last week and one of the nicest parts was being able to shave, shower, do my hair in the large showers and not have to do it in the small room shower (with three other people vying for time in there)

Was there a "shaving bar" for women to shave their legs? My wife's biggest gripe about showers on boats other than the Reflection is the lack of a bar to make shaving her legs easier.

  3. I am going on my first cruise with a friend next month. We are trying to stay on budget and were surprised at the price of drink packages. I was thinking of having one of us buy unlimited drink package and share drinks. Is this feasible? Do they watch for guests doing this?

that would be unethical, don't you think?

  4. Well, they have cruised several times and the older ones are just short of Platinum. The last time I sprang for two Grand Suites for 6 of us - the boys, their parents, and me. The 13-year-old LOVED the Suite perks and will be disappointed at a measely OV. But I figure getting his own room with his brother might make up for having to sail with the "lower classes". And I'm retiring in a couple of years so he needs to start resetting his expectations.

The other 2 kids could care less about room size, balconies, specialty restaurants, etc. Just give them a pool, plenty of food, and let them stay up late and they're in heaven.

I would just like to say that I like basketball and I like pools. I will be 35 in May.

Do you want another grandson? I am not asking for a friend. I am asking for myself.

  5. The pastries are included (and fabulous) also. On our latest Reflection cruise they would usually have 3 different types of cookies, and if you want to take some back to your room, they would place whatever you chose in a little sack.

My skinny husband would load up on the Macadamia Nut ones, but I have to warn you - he gained 17 pounds on this cruise!

That's some good work, right there.

  6. Kudos to the Cruise Critic staff for asking the questions and getting the article written. Well done, indeed.

I think RCI also deserves minimal credit for at least admitting (finally) on the record to a media source that there was a current problem on the ship.

As for the customer service people... they give us the wrong information quite often, I feel (said as a guy that has only been booked on RCI for a few months now.) They told me, not once, twice, or even three times, but on 5 different phone calls with 5 different CustServ reps, that the Premium Beverage Package included the Freestyle machine on the Allure. They see that the PBP includes "fountain sodas" and think that includes the Freestyle, because they aren't trained/educated to know otherwise, when in reality it doesn't. There is even a specific FAQ on the RCI website that says that it doesn't.

Basically, I'm just saying that I don't think the CustServ reps are lying to anybody for nefarious reasons; I just think they are grossly under-informed about their own company. And that is a whole different issue that isn't much better if you think about it...

  7. My husband and I just sailed on the RC Allure of the Seas Oct 20-27 for our honeymoon...it was the best vacation! Food and service was outstanding! Shows were great..what a gorgeous ship! Would do it again in a heartbeat! Can't wait to sail again one day with Royal Carribean :)

First and foremost, congratulations on your nuptials! Glad you had a great honeymoon.

Did you two do any specialty dining? If so, any comments (positive or negative) about those venues? Thanks in advance!
