  1. Now that you have been approved do you need to reapply in the UK which isn't necessary in the US. :)

Yes you do need you reapply for every cruise booked in the UK.

Unfortunately that is how it is in the UK, hopefully one day it will fall in line with the US, there is no reason why it shouldn't.

  2. The restriction is for someone counting number of days rather than number of cruise credits. If you pass the requisite number of days during a cruise you don't get the benefit until the next cruise. If the cruise is booked as a single sailing but could be booked as two segments then, at the completion of the first segment, you are definitely eligible for the increased benefits. This has been the case for quite a while. Unless there has been a recent change this is how it works.

All I can say is that was not our experience.

As the poster has never said if they are passing from Ruby to Platinum on cruise credits or days, probably the best advice would be to telephone Princess Captains Circle and ask them the question, as it appears people have had different experiences and no one is clear on the correct answer!

  3. The answer is "yes" even if booked as a single cruise.

That's not what we were told.

    Quote Captains Circle Q&A;

Question: What happens when I hit a cruise day milestone in the middle of my cruise?

Answer: Completing 30 cruise days to become Ruby, 50 cruise days to become Platinum or 150 cruise days to become Elite is certainly a milestone to be celebrated. However, we cannot change your tier status mid-cruise. Upon completion of that cruise you will receive your new Member Pack welcoming you to the new tier. On your next Princess voyage we'll look forward to welcoming you back at your new tier level!

So I would make sure that you book it as two cruises ;)

  4. I know that booking conditions differ for US cruisers but has any one in the UK managed to get a new lower price from Princess after they have paid the final balance? We booked and paid the full amount last week as it was less than 90 days before the start of the cruise and have just notice that the price has dropped even further. Just wondered if it was worth telephoning my TA.

    Hi Marmaduke

I have had reductions but never after the 90 days, that's not to say that you might.

Yesterday I looked at the new deals being offered and on the cruise that we have booked, the actual price on the category of cabin had reduced a bit but we would of lost the obc and we would of been worse off.

As Pia said, it is always worth a phone call, but check the deal.

  5. Sorry for the confusion. I'm Ruby status and I wanted to know if I only need one more cruise to get to the next level ( which I now know is Platinum not Elite) and I booked a B2B would my Platinum status kick in on the 2nd cruise?

    Thanks

As long as you have booked them as separate cruises then the answer is yes.

It happened to us last Oct and we went form Platinum to Elite.

    Carry On Cruising:)

  6. Are you on the Ruby or are you Ruby status?

I think Colo Cruiser's question needs to be answered 1st.....otherwise this thread is likely to distract from the original question, which happens quite a lot!

  7. Georherb.....Princess and it's parent company CCL are pretty sophisticated. I don't believe they would offer these discounts if they did not make financial sense. Just like they wouldn't offer OBC to shareholders or the free perks to elite passengers or those who use the casino frequently. By the way I am a shareholder and have no objection to any of these promos.

    Well said.

I too am a shareholder and totally agree with you.

  8. I thought they stopped this last year. Because the reason I say this is because I was on PO Acardia last year in March and the Future Cruise Consultant said they were phasing this out.

Recently we were wondering what the benefit would be in trying a P&O cruise as we live close to Southampton, so I asked our Princess Rep in Southampton and she told me that's how it works.

Who knows what they may do in the future, there was talk recently that benefits would be good right across the Carnival Group.

  9. Do you receive Princess credit for a cruise on a P&O ship? Or vice versa - do my Princess cruises count for anything on P&O? The Britannia looks beautiful and I might have to consider a cruise on her.

I love the idea of the Crows nest and wish Princess would consider that. I used to enjoy Crooners but with Princess' insistence on loud entertainment in the Piazza, Crooners is no longer a bar to go to for conversation and a drink unless you like to shout.

You do get Princess credits if go on P&O but your Princess status ie; Elite\Platinum etc is not recognised, you have to start at the bottom of their Reward Scheme.

  10. For anyone interested It has just been announced that Britannia is to be named in Southampton on 10th March by H.M. Queen Elizabeth. Guess it was obvious but anyway now official. Hope all goes well.

This had been muted around this week, good news now it has been confirmed, should be a great occasion.

We have been invited to go on board and have a look around with a 3 course lunch on the 8th March, looking forward to that.:)

  11. We got a letter about a month ago asking us if we wanted to enter a draw for a visit on either 5th Match or 13th March and asking our preference. I put 13th and luckily got the visit. We got a letter early last week telling us. Loads of other must have got the letter the same day for these two dates judging by the exited posts on Facebook.

    Thank you for the reply.

I had an email last week asking the same about the dates.

Will sit and wait with fingers crossed:)

  12. Will be staying over in London for 5 nights following Princess TA. Considering a day trip to Paris and looking for possible suggestions on tour companies etc. Will be in London May 9th - 14th.

You could get the early Eurostar from St Pancras London 05.40 - arrive 09.32 Paris Gare De Nord and get the last train back 21.10 arrive London 22.39....cost approx. £92/person, based on the 11th May departure.

Use the Hop on Hop off Bus in Paris - online cost 26.10 Euros/person.

Long day but would be worth it.

  13. ALoha CruzwithDC.....we were on your last cruise on the Star before you went on leave. It was our first time to Hawaii, you and your team were brilliant, as well as all the Staff from the Captain down.

Hope that you have a good break and perhaps might see you on another ship sometime.

  14. Just booked for the Sept. Mexican out of LA. Anyone have pictures of this cabin or has stayed in this cabin. I am curious about the balcony....I know it wraps around the side but is that part big enough for chairs to? Are there balconies above it and is it all open? Thanks for all your replies.

    Hi Cormike1

We stayed in R746 on the Crown in Sept 2013.

The cabin is similar to all others in the category.

The balcony is larger, it is at an angle looking straight down the ship with 3 steel walls.

It is in a good position for the Rear Adult pool and Horizon Court.

As others have said it appears to be an add on cabin.

There are no cabins above only the Horizon Court.

    Sorry I haven't any photos

  15. For all those who get sea sick, I would recommend a 'Relief Band', it is good for all types of motion sickness.

If you do go for one get the Blue one, you can change the battery. They cost about £110 but worth every penny, better still, I do not take any pills, therefore I do not have that cost

I used to get terrible sickness and took pills with me on every cruise. We were on a 30 day cruise to South America when I got sick, some American friends that we met loaned me one, within 10 minutes I was standing up and within one hour I was having lunch in the Horizon Court. They let me keep it until the end of the cruise, as soon as I got home I bought one and now take it every where. :)
