I would avoid using cellular service, as your phone will pick up the strongest signal and as such it will be the ship and not the land cellular towers. You'll end up with roaming charges which will be a lot more expensive than using a chat app on the ship's Wifi.

Otherwise you will need to wait until they dock and then you will have the ability to go onshore and be hooked up to the regular cellular service.

We just use WhatsApp on the ship (thru purchased wifi)

One of the last crew shows I saw had CD David Cole.  This WAS, by far, the best entertainment on the ship.  What a glorious memory on the last night.  Too bad it was only one show...too bad it has gone by the wayside.  And the best part for Princess...was it cost them little to nothing.

We have a crew show on our sailing departing Sunday!

I saw Ron Goodman's name on a thread and it made me laugh as I remembered all the crew shows that I saw him in his pink tutu during the "if I was not upon the sea" song during the crew show.
Used to love seeing all the crew show off their talent. It was always well attended and such a special thing. Great outlet for the crew to have some fun and show off.

Princess, please think about bringing it back!

Haven't seen that in awhile but I did on rccl  with that being said my sailing Sunday shows in journey view. Crew variety show on the last night!

  4. When I travel solo the first night I ask for a table for one. Then after eating tell them I want this table every night and they will confirm either that table or one close by and agree to a time

No more waiting in line just walk right in each night and be greeted by your same wait staff!

So after the Maître called me yesterday about my comments left on the feedback form a out the long waiting lines at one of the dinning rooms the chef called in the late afternoon hours about my feedback of lack of variety at breakfast.

he clearly mention that it’s out of his hands as the menu is done at corporate (which I know) and of course all feedback will be passed on

but love how they take the feedback forms serious, so def fill out the form. Never received any sort of follow up after any feedback form

I have mentioned this in previous post I was on a b2b2b2b same table for all sailings. After the first sailing my waiter in the dining room thanked me for my great review he had already received and read  I told him few more weeks of those to come Lol

Do you have to debark after the first half? If so do they escort you back on board before any others embark?

Or does customs come aboard? (I have never understood why you must go through customs if you are not getting off the ship.)

    Thank you for your help.

Yes we had to get off walk out and then go thru the entrance for embarkation passengers (you will be escorted) you do have an in transit line so it's only a few minutes wait see customs scan anything you may have with you (ladies hand bags) and then reboard or you could choose to skip all that and enjoy your day in port

As @candy4040 said: casino.  If you're looking for low denomination bills like $1 for hand-tipping, the casino cage can be stingy (as in saying "no") if you aren't just cashing in chips or a slot ticket.

I usually just hit up my bank in person and ask for a "wrap" of $1 bills.  That's 100 singles, and lasts me for a few cruises.

Getting cash from the casino charged to the card associated with your cabin has benefits beyond no ATM fees (assuming you pay it off and never carry a balance).  You get points.  It codes as a travel purchase.

I too always go to my bank for $1s and tell the teller it's for the strippers (I am in my 60s) and then have to say KIDDING!

Maybe I don't get it as a male, but if you mean for ironing clothes, they have them in the laundry rooms for free to use there.

I always bring my flat iron for my hair. No problems

That's one reason why my next two Alaska cruises - one in 2024 with ten family members and the Ultimate Alaska in 2025 are both on the Grand Princess. It's a much better ship for Alaska.

As a local I can tell you we are experiencing our first major storm of our rainy season. Lots of wind local ferry all canceled. Should be over by Wednesday

Hilton Gallery One is very nice, a little further from the cruise port, a  short walk over the bridge to the beach (maybe 15 min). The mall is a block away, Bublix and amazing coffee shop with bakery  across the street. water taxi is out the back door, by the pool.

Pool is not welcoming, too small and in busy water taxi stop area. I'll recommend   Bonnet House  Museum, only 10 min walk from the hotel. Amazingly beautiful place!!

if you plannig to stay for few days and spend time at the beach I would really reccomend The Westin Fort Lautardale beach resort. great location, private beach and a great pool

Thanks for your response we can walk everywhere from this hotel shopping restaurants water taxi beach and pool not that important. Quick Uber to Port works for us. Thanks again for your great suggestions!

    Which hotel?
I stay at the Hilton Gallery One on Sunrise pre-cruise.  Friday night is typically more expensive than Thursday night.

Hi just read your post we booked galleria one for our november sailing. Do you like/recommend this hotel. Anything you recommend to do?
