  1. If you’re looking for lobster rolls, the I’d recommend the West End cafe in Bar Harbor, right across the street from the tender drop off.  They had a special which we shared with and extra bowl of clam chowder ( also excellent).  Also Dimillos in Portland.  I never had a lobster roll with so much lobster!

  2. We also check daily and if any incorrect charges, find guest services very accommodating.  I’m sure it doesn’t happen often, but I often wonder what’s to prevent someone from just giving a random stateroom number when asked and does this account for the errors?  Much prefer they just ask for our sea pass card.

  3. Have them the check everything.  We were at the airport ( 4 hours from our home) ready to board a plan to Rome and could not find my passport.  After having a meltdown, I looked thru my carryon bag and there it was in a different handbag ( in an inside pocket). I had decided to switch bags last minute.

I agree it would be of little use to steal someone’s passport.

  4. Hi David,

We wore the name tags you had kindly made and sent to us last year at sail-a-way and received many compliments!

I neglected to add that the ship is very light and bright, especially in the public areas since the make over.   And very little to none KH clutter, especially in the cabin. The Party Band, the Seagulls was one of the best we have seen.

  5. Hi everyone.  We just returned from our NE/Canada cruise on the Summit.  There has been so much controversially regarding changes in the main dining room menus I though I would just post our thoughts. Food of course, is very subjective so I’m just providing information and our thoughts and how things compared to our cruise on the Eclispe this past May.  For the most part, everything we ordered was very good to excellent.  Excellent applies to the prime rib and the beef brochette.  I was able to order a baked potato instead of the mashed potatoes.  Yes, I think Celebrity could be a little more creative regarding potatoes as well as the veggie sides which was carrots and geeem beans with almost every dish.  We missed some of our favorites ( branzino, trout, beef tornadoes on the first chic night) but we’re very happy to find duck on the menu the second ice night ( not on the app). Usually the chef added another entree or appetizer that was not on the app.  There is a significant reduction of appetizers, with salads, a soup or two and maybe a real appetizer all grouped together.

Desert choices were very good ( the Sacher torte amazing!). We did go to two speciality restaurants ( and one in Portland) on days when we thought the menu was not to our liking.  The OV Cafe for breakfast and lunch was the same as we have always experienced.  We especially appreciate the variety of Indian foods and love love the chicken salad.  We did not experience any shortage of wait staff in any venue.

We throughly enjoyed our cruise and spent three days in Quebec instead of going to P.E.I. to avoid the hurricane.  The three warm and sunny days in Quebec more than made up for the foggy day in Bar Harbor.

We thought Manual was an excellent cruise director, personable and often seen around the ship.  We went to all but 2 shows and thought they were all excellent.

    Happy to answer any questions.

I hadn't used it at the restaurants either before.     In Denver you show your card at the reception person and she scanned our QR Code and asked what flight number we were on.   She then gave us a little receipt that you present to the waiter when you receive your bill.   He then told us we didn't owe anything since it was under $56.  We gave him a nice tip.

In Atlanta there was no reception so I just asked waiter how it worked and said it covers the first $56 dollar (1 member plus 1 guest).    When we got the bill he scanned our QR code and said it was fully covered so I personally handed him a tip and thanked him.

Thanks Jim.  Does that work in any airport restaurant?

  7. So very much enjoyed your review.  I had a lot of catching up to do as we just returned from the NE/Canada cruise on the Summit.  Your photos were amazing!

I also remember Gimble’s growing up.  And we loved Boston Store when we moved to upstate NY.

Quick question, how did you get the dining credit with your priority pass?  We are often at airports or terminals with no lounges.

    Thanls!
